I have been wanting to get myself on another 757 for a while now and with the very uncertain time that we live in I was worried they could be retired from service with little to no warning. So with that in my mind I decided to book this trip down to the beautiful island of Corfu in order to do some spotting while there and to get myself on a 757 and return back to Manchester on a 767!
Now out of the 757's left with Jet2 this one, G-LSAB is the oldest. At 32 years old, started flying in 1988!
A beautiful morning in Manchester surprisingly, departure time was 7:30am, so the low golden sunlight really makes the RB211 engines glow during the initial climb out of RWY05L at Manchester. We turned right slightly during the climb and headed east passing over Doncaster & Sheffield airport and out over the north sea. Crossing into mainland Europe just to the south of Amsterdam, the city and airport visible in the video. Continuing south east over Germany, the Dolomite Mountains and down the Adriatic coastline. Some nice views of Tivat before starting our descent. During the approach on the northerly runway we pretty much circled around the entire island offering some spectacular views so I've not cut it short or edited much of the approach out as the views of the island are incredible. Golden beaches and turquoise sea all around the coast.
My only complaint about the 757 and I've noticed this before is the deafening air con. Which seems to get louder as the engines spool up. It almost drowns out the beautiful RB211 roar during take off.

I love it when you hit 10000ft and you hear the dong and the 250 knot restriction is lifted then the aircraft pitches down a bit and you start to accelerate. Usually that is when the sound of the airstream starts to drown out the engines.
Loved the shot of Emley Moor TV mast. Has to be one of the most imposing structures in the UK.

What an aircraft !!!!! My wife and i loved and looked forwrd to flying over to Kos twice a year on the 757 , in the 90's.

I’ll always have find memories of the 757….. jet2 can’t quite retire them yet as they haven’t started deliveries of the 321NX… but, like all airlines, they gotta modernise to keep the bottom line healthy.
Personally I was concerned whether LS would survive the shutdown, but I’m glad they did as the U.K. airline scene is severely short of non BA carriers!

I’m so glad that you got yourself on G-LSAB, my favourite aircraft of all time! I flew her last year LBA-CFU, and she’s still going strong at 32 years old!
G-LSAB is my favourite out of the 757s G-LSAC also used to have the red livery but it got repainted for some reason

They are indeed. G-LSAI and G-LSAA will probably be next. G-LSAJ is slightly younger, so I suspect she will be retired after G-LSAB and G-LSAE.
G-LSAK is the youngest think it’s only around 22years old
Been to Corfu 5 years ago, albeit by ferry from the Italian port of Bari. I definitely want to return to the island at some point, hopefully by air.
Like the 757 not so many flying now , love Corfu too been there many times

There’s a mistake in the video… G-LSAI is the oldest
G-LSAI retired in 2019 at 31 years old. This was filmed in 2020, when G-LSAB was 32 years old & still in service.
@@TrainPlaneHub G-LSAI is still in the Jet2 fleet as of the 14th August 2021, you must be getting confused with G-LSAG.

Hi mate! I just wanted to ask you if jet2 are still flying to corfu and tui are flying back because i’ve always wanted to get on a 767-300 and I would love to get on another 757
Not right now they’re not, as it’s a seasonal route. So flights will start again next April / May for the summer season hopefully. Covid depending

this makes me sad, i used to fly on the b757 from leeds to antalya in turkey and to see the 757's not coming to leeds anymore makes me utterly sad and disappointed
I’m with you bud. Over the years, I flew on most of Jet2’s 757 fleet to Corfu and Lanzarote, and I miss seeing them at Leeds dearly.

Not yet! Only some have gone for scrap :)
Nope, Jet2 still operate eight out of their original eleven 757-200s. Unfortunately, G-LSAD, G-LSAG, and G-LSAH have already been retired.

G-LSAB is still in service because 757s are very reliable, robust, and powerful. All 757 pilots agree. Jet2 also do a fantastic job at maintaining their aircraft. Unfortunately, G-LSAB is probably nearing retirement.
As it is still air worthy, making money and a very reliable aircraft :D
