- Neil Young at the ROXY, where he played when Lou Adler and Elmer Valentine, with help from original partners, David Geffen, Elliot Roberts and Peter Asher, opened the club exactly 50 years before this show.
Billy Talbot on bass, Ralph Molina on drums, Nils Lofgren on guitar and keys, joined by Micah Nelson (Willie's son) on guitar. Close to the 1973 lineup. Only Ben Keith is missing. They called themselves the Santa Monica Flyers in 1973.
Dig the high heeled platform boot hanging down from the piano on the left!
I got my ticket at 3 pm the day of the show. A pinch me production!
I have no ownership interest in this video. I'm sharing because I was very fortunate to be there, and to be in a spot where I had a great view. The Roxy has a capacity of 500, and there are zillions of Neil Young fans out there.
If you have a legal objection, please let me know, and I'll take it down. If you object because you don't like Neil Young, what is wrong with you??? 😹
He turns 78 in Nov 2023. Good job Neil, his vocals still sound good.
fabulous...this is one who never sold out...thank you
Many years ago, I saw him at the Greek Theater. He had a piece of paper wrapped around his beer bottle. (Everybody drank on stage back in the day. ) Binoculars were employed. It said Sponsored by Nobody - though that tour was sponsored by Budweiser. An early lesson in corporate sponsorships? He wrote This Note's for You around that time.
Saw him at the Greek two months ago, and he had banned sales of Pepsi products for the evening. 🙄😂 Very Neil. I'm sure there's a story.
Neil Young is never a disappointment… Legendary
❤❤❤. Magical Neil . You have given us some beautiful , magnificent music , with memories attached the last few days . We love you Mr Neil. ❤❤❤
We do revere him. 🙏💛
God who can feel old with these continuing gems keep in rocking in the free world
Definitely not something I could imagine in the early 70's!
Thank you, I feel 54 years younger ✘
Hard to believe we're still seeing musicians from our school years. 💙
Neil is just Neil. And with Crazy Horse, who could possibly ask for more? Long may he run..
@@RockandRollWoman
Thank you soooo much. The master Crazy Horse raises its magnificent raging glory iconic head again. Tears cake to my eyes in sadness I missed it and mostly gratitude it happened. Please Neil please tour crazy horse again. Your music rages our darkness and sadness in this world. And burns it away. We adore you. We ate forever grateful for your tenacious full hearted message of love unity and the miracle of true Rock N Roll.
Please play again. We miss you with all our hearts and souls. We are with you, Mother Earth and all her children. On big dysfunctional family we are.
Long live Crazy Horse
Destroyer of darkness and misunderstanding
Revealers of light and love

I felt like I had been transported back to the 1970s, which was quite unexpected and emotional..
Would have been so cool to be there....Thanks for sharing!!!!
It was, and I'm happy to share.
One of my rock heroes.. 😎👍
Man, Neil, Billy and Ralpj, after all these years. Amazing
Legendary.
Thank you!
You're welcome. Still can't believe I got a ticket - at 3 that afternoon, following nearly two days of repeatedly refreshing the web page, figuring somebody wouldn't be able to go at the last minute, or would test positive for covid. The video is a little repayment for that good fortune. 💛
Unlike most of our contemporaries, this old curmudgeon still has it {like Mark Farner!}. You've grabbed a serious piece of history here - THANK YOU!
@@Mark-bw1wx
👏🏻Here here, agreed.
I like his curmudgeon streak.
Just get's better and better and better awesome thank you so much

Always loved Neil, but really was in awe after watching that Massey Hall concert which I have on my IPad….great sound, amazing playing, masterful….

My pleasure!
Mamma mia sempre fortissimo!
I was wondering if that was Micah, thanks for the detailed description and upload. Ol black still has that unmistakable and excellent tone. Mike Mcready was listening 😉
Still fantastic!!!!
Much respect to Neil, he still rocks! I wish I could’ve been there!
This is epic! Not quite the 26 minute version in Memphis with POTR years ago 😂, but still the best song from EKTIN album (1969)
they're all great on that album amongst others
Fantastic ,,Thanks for sharing ,,,, Seen Neil tree times in Ahoy ROTTERDAM ,,,,

No perderé la esperanza de que venga a Colombia 😢

I've been a fan since 1969 , Thanks
I'd say anytime, but I don't think there will be another time like it. Glad I found a spot where I could see! So many Neil lovers out there... it's wonderful. 💛

Still a mainstay of my history .... despite fact that his site wudn't allow me to sign up. Nice one. That tells me a lot.
Great intimate capture. Well done!
Good birthday present on my 69th ..thank you
MR. SOUL... RE LOADED LONG LIFE...!!!
Nice to see they dressed up for the gig.
I don't think Neil understood that ZZ Top tune "Sharp Dressed Man." 🤣🤣🤣
marvelous
A very great moment - You were very lucky
My old guitar has played that for decades...
With your help, I assume? 😂
Neil n old black grudging it up.. Long may you run
NEIL I WANNA JAM THIS SONG WITH YOU!! Is it true Berry Gibbs wrote this.
There's an indy artist in Connecticut that just started doing a Neil Young solo tribute show and it's absolutely amazing how much he sounds like Neil, even on his own original music. I've never heard anyone whose voice is this close to Neil's. He just posted a video of a full performance of the show (he calls it "The Loner: The Music of Neil Young") he did at a small club in Bridgeport, CT. See what you think. th-cam.com/video/GKktfL-ThKo/w-d-xo.html
Following your link was the best evah! He starts his set with Sugar Mountain, absolutely fave. Warp speed, to a 54 year time warp back. Thank you!
Still going strong. Be my wife rock n roll woman x
WHERES THE LEGENDARY ARTURO VALEJOS
Wow, where did you hear about this concert ?
I am a paid subscriber to Neil Young Archives, his awful app which has excellent content, but constantly crashes and freezes. I knew about the show before I got the NYA email with the specifics of ticket sales. The Roxy was publicizing their 50th anniversary plans, and both the music press and the main stream media picked up the story.
Actually getting a ticket was a challenge! I succeeded five hours before show time. 🍀
How did you snag that ticket?
Fair value exchange on AXS, about 5 hours before show time.
I would love to include this song on my channel!
Feel free to share! I don't own this or profit financially from any of the music I upload. I get the joy of making people happy. You could say my reward is a heart of gold. 💛💛💛
In an interview in 1971, Duane Allman was asked about Neil Young. He responded: that guy can't play guitar!
Hello Debra!

Thank you again for posting these; the audio quality is quite good 👍
That young’n don’t screw around!!!
Neil looks my mate Robby, it's uncanny.
That’s very interesting
NEIL
Playing covers of his own material.
What do you mean? There's no age limit to masterpieces and they mean different things at different times, are you dead inside? Who forces you to listen to anything twice airhead?
I hope you grow up soon, sometimes it's best not to reply at all.
@@rinalore 👍😉
When I see the band that calls itself Yes these days, I think of it as the world's best Yes cover band, featuring Steve Howe. Otherwise, I'd miss Jon Anderson and Chris Squire too much to enjoy it. I love watching Steve Howe play Yessongs. 🙏💛🙏
Still a guitar fest all these years later.
Oy vey izmir.....😮
Antiestablishment turned into the establishment Neil young…..2023
I don't believe you understand Mr. Young or the establishment, tbh.
@@rinalore A vaccine zealot
@@Mark-bw1wx That’s that’s fine if he wants to put that in his body, that’s OK but to force other people to do it I totally disagree with, and that’s what he did with his band force them to take it…
@@Fender73472cheap shot,...Mr
@@Fender73472are you personally on par, with his activism ? ,....highly doubtful !
I worry for Neil, he needs to lose some pounds.
He was a little bigger a couple years ago Lol. I think now it's just a bit of sagging skin. The joys of old age He's handling it like a champ though
