It's exactly what happened here. Erwin started questioning his own choices, so Levi made the decision for Erwin, and all that's left is for Erwin to die.
The thing I love about Armin temporarily turning command over to Jean is he realizes he’s brain-locked at the moment and incapable of coming up with the next plan. This allows him to mentally check out, get his head on straight, and come up with the next plan while Jean worries about the here and now.

They obliviously had to translate the joke and went with eavesdropping to make a similar sonority joke this one being "Heaves dropping" because Bertholdt heaved the houses before "dropping" them.
This is what a lot of people don't understand about translating from Japanese to English. It's not just an issue for Dubs. Even Subs have these issues. Japanese is not even close to a similar language on top of how context heavy Japanese is. A lot of things can have multiple meanings based on context. The fact is that there was no way to translate what Connie said in a way that would satisfy a viewer. No matter what the pun was lost.

In most cases translations between Japanese and English are conceptual, not direct, which means certain things, such as puns and jokes, are impossible to translate to retain meaning. little fun fact about me: i have played a little bit of DnD before but by far my crowning moment was when i needed to summon an army to help support my friends in battle. our DM told me to make a speech in order to rally troops, and he said he would give more or less troops based on how well i did. i chose to give Erwin's Speech, because every sane person has it memorized. I impressed everyone so much that the enemy soldiers simply began to cower in fear, some even fainting outright when i led the charge. EASILY one of my proudest moments in my whole life Erwin's Speech is a master work of manipulation, and i DARESAY that the English Dub is BETTER than the Japanese. i know it's hotly debated because both are absolutely stellar performances, but hearing the words of a man leading a suicide charge in my own native language will always hit me harder.

The dub pulls it off even better, just knowing they’re charging to death and screaming their hearts out for the ones who survive to remember them. Erwin was a real one. He went out blazing. 😔✊

Erwin charges in front of the group, shouting loudly, pretty much singleling himself out as the leader, and gets one shot on first volley Me: "Yep, not surprised that happened." Alicia: *Surprised Pikachu face* Me: "Not surprised at that either."

I don't know what exactly Connie said, but it's clearly some gallow's humour between whatever he said and Eren's family name, rather than him going entirely hysterical. ;) I love the little detail of the quadrupal titan rolling in more rocks to explain why the Beast isn't running out of ammo. The animators were playing a bit fast and loose with scale here. The Colossal is 60 and a bit meters, while Eren's titan is 15 meters. Eren should at least go up to the Colossal's knee, where here he doesn't even reach the middle of the shin... If you say that Erwin is expandable, because they have Armin, then Levi is also expandeble, because they now have Mikasa... The only one they can not replace is Eren. Erwin's voice actor is phenomenal. This heroic last cry, full of charisma and conviction, with just a small hint of fear and desperation on top. Brilliant.
I would honestly love a video of you reacting to just the Erwin speech in english dub. The sub is generally better, but the Dub speech is my favorite scene in the entire shows run bar nothing, and the voice actor for english made the passion in the speech just send adrenaline soaring through the veins of every viewer

At this point it was either, everyone dies and you lose, or 99% of them die and they had a chance at winning. It's not an easy choice. But it had to be made or it would be made for them. It was a monstrous choice that only a monster could make.
Even if you knew it's coming... Even when you see the destination, the journey gives it weight. Whether we like it or not, the show has perfectly executed the gravity of it all. A story could throw a curveball at you to hit you. Or it could throw a straight one and still doesn't miss because you were mesmerized by the sight of it. Either way is cool. But I think it's more impressive if it still hits you hard even when you knew it was coming. Also, Erwin could have told them to run into a wall and they prolly would have followed, after hearing that speech. I know I would've. P.S. Do you have a source for this? I tried to look for one but they all say Isayama instructed the people doing the adaptation to keep their gender ambiguous. Was back in 2014, so maybe he changed his mind, but I can’t find it if he did.
I watch both Sub and Dub but I honestly think the Dub is better for to his episode. With the Dub, you don't need to understand Japanese to get Connie's joke and Erwin's Dub voice actor absolutely popped off during his speach

I haven't read this chapter of manga so I don't know how Isayama drew it but in here the height difference between Eren and Bertholt seems out of scale. Eren's titan is 14 meters and Bertholt's titan is 60 meters long. So Eren should bwe as tall as a quarter of Bertholt and should be reaching at least to his knees but here Eren barely passes Bertholt's ankles.

From what I understand about Hange is that their gender plays no significance to the story, and that's why they're technically undefined in terms of gender. I don't think it has necessarily anything to do with gender identity. Very few if any characters have a gender that directly impacts the story. Japan does not necessarily have the same kinds of gender identity culture as what exists in the west, and japanese does not specifically have gender pronouns either. Hange's gender is not trans, it is not nonbinary, but it is purposely left ambiguous. It's unknown. Doesn't exist. It's shrodinger's gender. So I believe it's fine to use whatever pronouns for them. Whether it's she/her, he/him, or they/them, all of them can be applicable, it's just a matter of what is easiest for you. It serves no impact in the story, it's not important to Hange in any of her scenes, (sorry if that's a spoiler), so it just doesn't matter. This is also a personal view but I believe there are inherent differences between fictional characters and real people. For one, real people have thoughts, opinions, and feelings. But more so than that real people can be multifaceted, they can exist in a larger variety. Fictional characters are only capable of being what is shown, or portrayed. I can be a fan of broccoli even if you never see me eat it. Eren cannot. Eren cannot exist beyond what is portrayed in the medium he exists in. And as such, although I do believe that gender identity can exist in many forms and they don't have to fit any certain stereotypes, when it comes to fictional characters, if it's not explicitly portratyed, it doesn't exist. And when it comes to Hange, what has been portrayed, is that her/their gender is irrelevant. And as such it's my belief that fussing over her/their pronouns is also irrelevant. Hange is portrayed with feminine features, so for english speakers it's easiest to attribute that to her being biologically female. And biological females are most commonly associated with women. I'm not saying men or nonbinary people cannot exist if they have feminine traits, but when portraying a female fictional character, you give them feminine traits. When portraying a nonbinary or trans character, you put in the effort to portray them in that way to a capacity that makes it understood by the audience. I understand that for trans and nonbinary people there isn't enough representation in media, but what irks me personally is when people go out of their way to attribute something, like a gender identity, where it simply does not exist within the bounds of the story that's being told.
I don’t think it really matters all that much what pronouns you use for hange. Especially since they’re a fictional character who, as far as I’m aware, hasn’t had their gender identity confirmed yet.

Anyone who tries to make a big deal out of it saying she's definitely Non-binary, is just some narrow minded toxic person.

Even if you knew it's coming... Even when you see the destination, the journey gives it weight. Whether we like it or not, the show has perfectly executed the gravity of it all.
A story could throw a curveball at you to hit you. Or it could throw a straight one and still doesn't miss because you were mesmerized by the sight of it. Either way is cool. But I think it's more impressive if it still hits you hard even when you knew it was coming.
Also, Erwin could have told them to run into a wall and they prolly would have followed, after hearing that speech. I know I would've.
P.S. I saw a different reaction video that used English dub and I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked it.

Erwin's final speech was done really good in the english dub too. Its one of the few times in my opinion that the dub surpassed the sub.

Do you have a source for this? I tried to look for one but they all say Isayama instructed the people doing the adaptation to keep their gender ambiguous. Was back in 2014, so maybe he changed his mind, but I can’t find it if he did.

I watch both Sub and Dub but I honestly think the Dub is better for to his episode. With the Dub, you don't need to understand Japanese to get Connie's joke and Erwin's Dub voice actor absolutely popped off during his speach

I haven't read this chapter of manga so I don't know how Isayama drew it but in here the height difference between Eren and Bertholt seems out of scale. Eren's titan is 14 meters and Bertholt's titan is 60 meters long. So Eren should bwe as tall as a quarter of Bertholt and should be reaching at least to his knees but here Eren barely passes Bertholt's ankles.

From what I understand about Hange is that their gender plays no significance to the story, and that's why they're technically undefined in terms of gender. I don't think it has necessarily anything to do with gender identity. Very few if any characters have a gender that directly impacts the story. Japan does not necessarily have the same kinds of gender identity culture as what exists in the west, and japanese does not specifically have gender pronouns either. Hange's gender is not trans, it is not nonbinary, but it is purposely left ambiguous. It's unknown. Doesn't exist. It's shrodinger's gender. So I believe it's fine to use whatever pronouns for them. Whether it's she/her, he/him, or they/them, all of them can be applicable, it's just a matter of what is easiest for you. It serves no impact in the story, it's not important to Hange in any of her scenes, (sorry if that's a spoiler), so it just doesn't matter.
This is also a personal view but I believe there are inherent differences between fictional characters and real people. For one, real people have thoughts, opinions, and feelings. But more so than that real people can be multifaceted, they can exist in a larger variety. Fictional characters are only capable of being what is shown, or portrayed. I can be a fan of broccoli even if you never see me eat it. Eren cannot. Eren cannot exist beyond what is portrayed in the medium he exists in. And as such, although I do believe that gender identity can exist in many forms and they don't have to fit any certain stereotypes, when it comes to fictional characters, if it's not explicitly portratyed, it doesn't exist. And when it comes to Hange, what has been portrayed, is that her/their gender is irrelevant. And as such it's my belief that fussing over her/their pronouns is also irrelevant. Hange is portrayed with feminine features, so for english speakers it's easiest to attribute that to her being biologically female. And biological females are most commonly associated with women. I'm not saying men or nonbinary people cannot exist if they have feminine traits, but when portraying a female fictional character, you give them feminine traits. When portraying a nonbinary or trans character, you put in the effort to portray them in that way to a capacity that makes it understood by the audience. I understand that for trans and nonbinary people there isn't enough representation in media, but what irks me personally is when people go out of their way to attribute something, like a gender identity, where it simply does not exist within the bounds of the story that's being told.
