People watching for sure is a lot of fun! The vendors are great, they have stuff you can't get in the big box stores. Love going to dog shows and meeting different breeds and talking to their owners or the handlers. I met a xoloitzcuintli (mexican hairless dog) at the last Dallas dog show, so fun! Love watching the dobes, they're so elegant. Thanks for sharing, another great video!
Yeah it's amazing seeing so many different breeds all under one roof!!! I got to see one of those dogs too but I missed the show!!! I can't wait to edit the rally video, I thought of you because there was a Frenchie competing for the first time!
I actually live close to the Atlanta Expo Center South like 5 minutes away and one time last year I passed by it and there was a dog show going on. There was RV's there too.
I have watched a lot of videos of best of breed for various breeds, of the actual show ring part. But I've never seen the rest of it; the vendors and all the supplies people bring with them, and the space in general/atmosphere, so that was really interesting!
Wow, the handlers were moving so precisely! Incredible art form of keeping their dogs attention, very strategic movement of the 'treat baiting', almost like dances! I did notice the handlers often putting things in their mouth, or taking things out of their mouth, which was very strange for me - could you explain what they were doing with that?
They are putting the dog treats that they're using to bait the dog as they call it and keep his attention in their mouth for when they don't need it. So I'm not sure which kind of bait they're using but I assume it's some sort of meat. I have been trying to get Chevy to do what they're doing in the ring for months and it's so much harder than you'd imagine to get your talk to stay still as a puppy in a specific stance lol. If you Google dog show bait you will see what some of the things are but I find it's typically dehydrated organ meat.
Hope you feel better it's no fun being sick. These were American Dobermans? Interesting for sure the gentleman in the gray sports coat put the rear legs towards the side and forward just a hair to show rear angulation, probably also to have the back at the right angle. (Not very sure on Doberman breed standards, may do a bit of research to fully understand what I am looking at.) Watched a second time and none of the other handlers did this, but seeing some of the other dogs I saw that they had their rear legs in position naturally. I hope when you learn more about the dog show world you can give us more videos I really would have liked to see the corso's as then you could have explained why a certain dog was chosen over another.
Yes these were Dobermans. Yeah I know movement is very important so the angulation when moving is most important. I think that's why he made them run around the ring so much? But yes the male handler got 3rd! It's so much to learn so I definitely will have more videos on it. I filmed the entire Corso events so I will be posting that one as well. I was actually very surprised with the winner so that's why I think people get frustrated? The same kennel swept the entire day for Corsos. They had a good handler though so I have heard the handler can be more important than how your dog is. It will be very interesting!!!
@@Dogdayshomestead Awesome can't wait for that video, I am not familiar with dog shows at all, I'm literally a person who watches the Westminster Dog Show on TV and that's it. Although it's something I'd like to learn about. I heard from a friend, who did shows that people if they go to enough dog shows they can get a dog championed. So yeah I just took it at face value and an unhealthy dose of salt, but perhaps with people being frustrated it could be true. I think you are spot on that the handler is an integral part, this also was relayed to me and they had a specific handler who shows all the dogs. It often see them adjusting the dog to show the best of that particular dog. I looked up the breed standard on both European and American Doberman's and re-watched to get some further insights as to how the judging took place, not 100% sure but they were checking the chest for sure at least from what we saw.. unsure I am sure trained eyes would be more discerning.
I don’t remember, but if I can find it I will reply with the information. I know Legion Cane Corsos and Hierarchy Cane Corsos were there but I didn’t know some of the others.
That was interesting! I never knew there was a specific type of lead required for shows like that, but I always was impressed by how tiny some of the choke chains used, especially on the large/giant breeds! Those Dobermans were gorgeous, and stacked out beautifully, especially the chocolate/red coloured ones (my personal favourite). Did you find going to the show and witnessing how many people make a lifestyle of it, kind of intimidating? Makes me want to watch that comedy film Best In Show! (Great flick if you havent checked it out yet) hahaha
I have not seen that movie and now I have to watch it lol! Yeah I find it a bit interesting of how into the show world some people are. I know I can't afford an RV never mind the vacation time to travel all over the US. It will be be interesting to learn how much that can impact you or not as I learn more. It is definitely true that not every dog can be in the ring, some temperaments and definitely some owners would not put in the work needed to show. But yes everyone had the chain or a larger rope slip lead! So much to learn!!!
You are just showing symptoms of a cold today? Then you were exposed to the cold, or bacterial / viruses a week to to 2 weeks ago. Incubation period, you'll probably start feeling crappy. ( I'm an epidemologist ) Take care, FLUIDS!! Rest if you can, hope you feel better!!
Yeah my guess is I got it last Thursday visiting a possible school for our daughter? She got it first though and I got it 2 days later. And yesss I have just recently upped my fluid intake from 6 cups to 10+ cups a day and I cannot believe how much better I feel. Love water! Thanks so much for the info and health recommendation 😊
😂😂😂 you can be our stylist. I'm pretty sure people are dressing for the age and style of the judges. I didn't see anybody in there with a modern professional dress style that was handling in the ring!!! 🤷
The dress needs to complement the dog and you need to be able to run. You need to be able to bend over without revealing your underwear or cleavage. It's the dogs which are on show ;)
@@alisonwoolley4815 😂😂😂 good point it should be the dogs that stand out. I did decide I am definitely wearing a pant suit as I am not in the slender side.
There are fashionable, professional and conservative suits that can be worn. Yes the dog is on show but the owner needs to compliment the dog! Dress for the win, not the loss 😂🤣😂
Be careful videoing because I lot of people don’t want their dogs on camera and will really go off on you for not asking permission. Not trying to be rude, just trying to help you.
Yeah I checked in with the AKC coordinator and they said it's fine as when you register for the event you sign that you're okay being in video or photos. However they did warn me very sternly that I am not interfere in any way with the events and to be far back from the ring.
Cane Corso Chronicles Ok awesome! I’m glad you didn’t run into that problem, one thing about the show world is there are very snooty people so you just gotta watch out for them 😂

I purchased a dog trailer from Germany for when we attend dog shows and events definitely a lifestyle
Yes! I may be joining the lifestyle soon depending on how things go!
Ultimately vans and trailers are cheaper than booking hotels for shows
Welcome to the dog show world!

Ohh too bad we missed you! Yes I believe they have at least one a year in that location.
@@Dogdayshomestead After college I might move back here for a few years to see a dog show here and see the National and Westminster Dog Shows.

Yes this is one of the only ones along the perimeter. However, I think one is coming up in Lawrenceville??? I will have to look it up!
Oh wow, I don’t live far from there

@@Dogdayshomestead sometimes just gross dog treats they like. Ive done this with chicken, string cheese, and yep gross dog treats.
How do you find a mentor?
If you join the CCAA they should have a mentor program coming out that’s finally helpful. Otherwise you can try Facebook
