She is one of the most staunch exponent of the Jaipur Gharana and she ensured that her students learnt the distinctive features of the Gharana. 'Babuji' as we called Ustad Fakir Mohammad, her father trained us on understanding the bols on the pakhavaj. This clip is nothing but sheer nostalgia!

Roshan jee taught Saira Bano as well, and she too has those chakkar that looks like they´ve sped up digitally. I wish somebody would do an in-depth interview with Roshan ji. She´s still alive mash´Allah, I heard. It´s a pity that no one seems to be interviewing her, Kumudini Lakhia jee and other really old dance maestros. They are such undisputable artists but also, they could share so much about a gone era that soon...nobody might be alive to tell us about. I´d love to know about what India looked like during the times of the last nawabs etc.

Many of her disciples including mukta joshi, aditi bhagwat belong to her style and have done many programmes, so lucky that the newest generation Sehajpreet Singh ji is following her legacy hope he propagates it well , roshan kumari is legend🙂😇

She’s one of the very few Kathak dancers whom I have seen perform with such speed and grace. I know it’s the speciality of Jaipur Gharana but still.
