If a team is offering up a 2nd round pick for George Pickens, you definitely take it. Draft a WR this year in round 1 - some really nice players that are expected to be available around that 20th pick. Draft DL with your first pick in round 2 and CB with the other 2nd round pick. That's WR, DL, and CB addressed right away. Then, sign a free agent WR such as Slayton or Kirk (I think he's expected to be cut), maybe bring back Mike Williams to give you a big body. I like Skowronek for special teams and he plays so hard. Your WR room would be 1st Round Rookie, Slayton/Kirk, CAIII, Roman Wilson, Mike Williams, and Skowronek. It should be an upgrade and it's all entirely realistic. I am not a fan of Pickens being on this team next year. Precedent says that the Steelers move on from problem WRs if the talent doesn't equal the headache.

Everyone talked about needing a #2 WR all year long. George was the #2. Calvin was the #3. We needed a #1. Diontae wasnt it, either. ❤️🔥🍻

You didn't seem to be listening. Pickens was ranked #32 at the end of the season. Which means that with 32 NFL teams, he was a low tier WR1 talent. And some teams have 2 legit WRs, a WR1A and a WR1B.

    I mean…I’m already fantasizing about
    1. Cooper Kupp
    2. Emeka Ebuka
    3. Garett Wilson
Interestingly enough..Justin Fields and Garett Wilson were teammates in college
Garett Wilson was Fields WR1 at Ohio State.
    Something to think about…

How do you get Garett Wilson though? You have to trade the Jets something? I doubt they trade Pickens for Wilson - Wilson is the better player. I don't see Khan giving up high end draft capital for a big name WR. I can see the Kupp trade (maybe a 3rd round pick).
Love Ebuka! My ideal scenario is to trade GP for a 2nd, draft a WR in round 1 (Ebuka or Burden III if he falls, maybe Tre Harris but at 20 it's a bit of a reach), then add one in free agency/via trade. That gives you a room of Ebuka, (Kupp, Slayton, Kirk), CAIII, Roman Wilson, (re-sign Miek Williams), (re-sign Skowronek for STeams). Could splurge on a big name like Higgins, but I don't think they'll do that, but I'd love it.

It may have come out after this recording, but it was mentioned that after the Cincinnati game, Russ was forced by Arthur Smith to no longer audible and change plays. The reduction in production really makes sense now, as does the story that the two didn't get along. There was a steep offensive fall-off after that point. Not that I'm a Russ fan, but maybe there was more to it than him just wanting to be the old Russ... he wasn't allowed.

I agree with much of your stance on GP. I don't on his stats and where he ranks among other WRs. 2 big reasons. The QB throwing him the ball and scheme run. GP has showed he can turn seem rts into 76 yard TDs. The D only focuses on him in our WR room. AB had Ben throwing the ball to him with other respectable WRs on the team, hell of a OL and running game. Not a fair comparison

I totally agree with you regarding Justin being pulled out to give Russ the pole position that was promised to him. I wish Justin would have been in at least until their by week. I agree that Tomlin took advantage of the part of the schedule that seemed really easy (Giants & Jets) and set Russ up for a good run. Those last for regular season games and wildcard game certainly didn't make Tomlin worth those big pays!!!

People will disagree.....I don't care anymore if they do. I've been involved with the game of football for 30 consecutive seasons between playing youth through college and entering coaching immediately after.....you simply don't win with guys like #14. Ever......at any level. Cut your losses. Get a draft pick. Learn from it in future evals of the position.
Adding to this....yes he's uber talented, but the excuses he gets for having just 12 TDs is wild. Ward caught 12 TDs in a season in which he caught passes from Tommy freaking Maddox. Ward also had 12ish TDs in a separate year in which the team ran the ball 60% of the time.

He was intercepted by WR coach Bones Taylor who talked Joe into staying and getting everything off his chest in a players meeting. Joe was that fed up with losing and inconsistency by the offense. The Steelers should have ran Joe out of town? GP14 is a symptom, NOT the problem. There is simply now way to compare George’s statistics to AB’s. When you look at the O-line, QB, and RB that AB had you create a huge dilemma for defenses. The current Steelers have George… and a young O-line in flux, a QB by committee and a 1st round RB who wasn’t retained… don’t get me wrong, I’d trade him if I could get good value, but not because his numbers aren’t what AB’s were.

That's kind of how I feel.
28+ other NFL teams would understand his immense talent & personality. Get him early targets, tie hefty incentives to stuff like being on time, 3rd party blocking grades, communicate the gameplan & make him feel like he's involved.
It's bad behavior that comes from a place of wanting success.

I bet in the right offense George could be great. He needs a good QB behind a line that buys time, with a decent 2nd receiver and another capable 3rd/RB/TE to pull attention from him. With barely any of that he’s pretty pedestrian.

If I can get tee higgins for 28mill a year im doing that and trading pickens for like new England's second or third and 2026 3rd, still bring in an early draft pick

Hey DK are you going to talk about/address the Gerry Dulac report the Arthur Smith handcuffed Russell Wilson after his 400 performance against Cincinnati because he didn’t like how Wilson was adjusting and calling audibles and not running the play Arthur sent in? Seems like it could be legit, first 7 games Russ was 6-1 255YPG 28.4 Points per game and a 103.88 passer rating. After of course we played stronger teams but his YPG went down to 193 passer rating 88.93 and last 5 games only 14.2 points per game. We all saw something different.

I don’t like how George acts out but I understand it. He knows if he were in a very good system (not a dismal one in Pbgh), he would be totally killing it in his rookie contract setting up a massive payday in his second contract. Instead he’s miserable here bc it will cost him millions in his second contract elsewhere. Can you really blame him???

How can he be compared to JJ if he gets 1/3 of JJ’s targets?

Right off the bat (and I’m sure you love comments like this). Without even watching it, yes, keep George. The dude has had to deal with Pickett for 2 years. This year was the only real chance at progress and good QB play. A lot of the issues that has occurred are out of his hands. Now, I don’t like quitting or easing up on plays in games. But I think that it’s coachable. And I think if we have even better QB play, we can see some real progress with him. Otherwise, everything he’s done has been very reasonable. I don’t think he’s AB2 despite how some folks feel. I just hope Fields can progress in a way that he builds on the foundation he built last year. Low on turnovers and hopefully can be trusted to read defenses and take complete control of the offense and can thrive.
