Overenginering; another part what can cause trouble and potentialy can reduce the vital function of the oilpump. Is makes the motor more vulnerable to maintenance wich I as a user of older used cars don't like........

Manufacturing tolerances are a lot better nowadays so it should last long enough. Also having loads of oil pressure on cold-start is a huge advantage to keep the engine wear down. Changing the oil pump is not that big of a deal either: drain the oil, drop the oil pan/sump, there's your oil pump.

It appear engine driven likely through some gears and pulleys probably connected to the geartrain. The more demand for power the higher oil pump output. But since this comments 2 years old you probably already figured that out. I guess this ones for the next guy

Don't use any flush, ever. Just do more often oil changes. Fresh oil has cleaning agents and with time they get used up.

Garbage engineering.... When the oil drops below the pump and drains out... the vanes cannot produce enough suction using air alone and therefore... Total Engine failure!!! TERRIBLE DESIGN
