I can already predict all the comments commending Harry for doing what he is doing, and rightly so! But can I also give a shout out to Mark here.... I wish I had an instructor as good as him. Well done, guys. This is awesome.
Yeah dude, my instructor forcefully put my head on the water suddenly, I was drowning but he wasn't doing anything. He said you body will adapt. I left swimming since then but now coming forward again
for lots of people not only swimming is scary, they have no aerobic base. but the more difficult part is the fear. the psychological factor of fear is more challenging than the activity itself. i experienced this and i heard a lot of similar experiences with my friends and co-workers.
Love the methodical and incremental way Mark is presenting the various aspects of swimming, building it brick by brick. And huge props to Harry of course. The drop in his anxiety levels from episode 1 was very obvious. Way to go Harry!
I can barely swim and the things I find it difficult to further my development is the fear of drowning and breathlessness. Well done to the instructor to successfully alleviate those fear from the learner
Amazing progress in just 2 sessions, Harry was clearly more relaxed in this one which must feel like a big step for him. Mark is also a great instructor, breaking it down in small steps, keep it up Harry, looking forward to the next video!
Get in the water at least a couple of times a week, consistent practice of all the new things he is learning will make a big difference to his confidence and skill level. Stay in a pool where he can touch the bottom with his feet if swimming alone though.
Amazing! The calmness from this session compared to the first! You can see he’s ready to swim now whereas before it was a mental battle to get in the water! We’ll make a fish out of him yet!
Awesome! I had to go through this myself a few years ago when I wanted to start doing tri. I found starting with a front mount snorkel to figure out the stroke first helped a ton. Then after getting stroke down with it I slowly learned to breath without it.
Way to go Harry and Mark! I'm inspired to pursue adult swimming lessons...something that I've been a bit embarrassed about but realize there is no shame.
Amazing progress by Harry, and as well amazing coaching by Mark. It is one thing to be able to explain the drills, it is much more difficult to make it understandable and accessible to someone. Helping overcome the fear of water is an achievement in itself.
Loving this series! I feel so fortunate that I was taught to swim as a young child, it’s so much harder as an adult. However, Harry is doing brilliantly!
A patient and knowledgeable instructor Mark is. Making it fun for Harry to learn is the way to go. Soon Harry can work on little details to improve more. Just to conquer the anxiety is something I still struggle with but I am getting better. I know now what triggers it and how to calm and settle down. I like Harry have a long way to go and much to learn. Cheers to you both.
Superb, I bet Harry couldn't have conceived of being in a pool trying to swim down to the bottom to do a handstand underwater back in the day. Such good achievements every time.
Thank you for your videos! I have a question: why are you starting with front crawl as opposed to breast stroke? I am a beginner swimmer and I was told that it was best to start with breast stroke. Much appreciated!
When you learn swimming you have to learn treading water & deadman float to stay afloat. Also learn while swimming, how to stand properly to come out of water.
Very impressive! And even though I learned breast stroke as a little kid, with that video I feel kind of seen with my struggles to swim freestyle once I tried to teach it myself about a year ago.
Harry is doing an awesome job! I never learned to swim and want to but I'm afraid my anxiety will get the best of me. What are some tips on helping someone get use to their head being underwater? It makes me feel like I'm suffocating.
I can swim but I'm not a strong swimmer. Would love to do adult lessons one day and get stronger. and maybe do a tri one day. Hoping next year to attempt my first Duathlon. Well done to him.
I’ve never known how to swim but harry is giving me the confidence to move on I’ll try these strategies but one question how do you get your feet of the ground without being scared of sinking ?
Thanks this helped now I can get my feet of the ground without fear but when I start swimming I don’t now how to move my hands I will try the technique harry used in this video
The way to revolutionise teaching new swimmers is to get them straight on the centre snorkel. Unfortunately that will never happen in mass though, I believe due to snorkels not being a shareable item and the outright cost. The body possition (head down, bum up, correct kick) is therefore taught before the breathing. Freestyle kick with the kickboard and the head up and not using a snorkel is mistake taught all the way up into the advanced ranks. I'm not talking about trying to learn the arms and breathing. Just the completive kick should be done with a snorkel for natural freestyle possition.
Hey, I was wondering about starting swimming, from someone who swam as a kid, hasn’t got trauma and has done some occasional swimming since. I used to swim a lot as a kid until teen. But came out as transgender in my late teens. Swimming became terrifying and embarrassing (it is honestly terrifying existing especially early in transition) so I stopped. Until last year I was running 30km 5* week and cycling 80km a day for work. Had a bowel perforation followed by a broke. Collarbone (and snapped bike) this year sk have had little to no exercise for 6months including 2 months in a hospital bed. My fitness recovery plan is to do a triathlon next year!
we think too much as an adult. for us, not easy to swim. sometime the head, hand and leg movement is not coordinate. For children, its easy peasy for them and they dont afraid in water :)
Interesting, isn't it that you should teach him how to float first and on both sides, I feel like the lessons are reversed, his legs are always sinking ;)
What more tips have you got for Harry? 🏊
Just keep at it, mate. Trust the process, appreciate the progress you make.
I can already predict all the comments commending Harry for doing what he is doing, and rightly so! But can I also give a shout out to Mark here.... I wish I had an instructor as good as him. Well done, guys. This is awesome.
Both smashing the challenge! 👌

What Harry has achieved in just two sessions is amazing! And Mark is so good teaching. Top content GTN 👍
So amazing to see how Harry is growing into swimming 👌
Amazing progress in just 2 sessions, Harry was clearly more relaxed in this one which must feel like a big step for him. Mark is also a great instructor, breaking it down in small steps, keep it up Harry, looking forward to the next video!
Harry is smashing it 💥 Any tips for him?

No shame I'm having lessons at the age of 52 n I was terrified x
Awesome! We love inspiring people to try new things! 🙌

Both Harry and Mark are smashing it 🙌 So great to see Harry come such a long way!
Loving this series! I feel so fortunate that I was taught to swim as a young child, it’s so much harder as an adult. However, Harry is doing brilliantly!
It can be a very intimidating thing to do! Harry is smashing it 🙌
As someone who was taught when younger in group settings at school and now learning 1 on 1 with a tutor and I find it much easier now than then.
A patient and knowledgeable instructor Mark is. Making it fun for Harry to learn is the way to go. Soon Harry can work on little details to improve more. Let’s go Harry!!
how many days does it takes?
I can swim but I'm not a strong swimmer. Would love to do adult lessons one day and get stronger. and maybe do a tri one day. Hoping next year to attempt my first Duathlon. Well done to him.
Give it a go! Sounds like a great idea 🙌
Thanks let see what I can do in the next couple of years
I’ve never known how to swim but harry is giving me the confidence to move on I’ll try these strategies but one question how do you get your feet of the ground without being scared of sinking ?
Try using lots of floats and maybe take a swimming buddy with you, having a friend can really boost your confidence
Thanks this helped now I can get my feet of the ground without fear but when I start swimming I don’t now how to move my hands I will try the technique harry used in this video
Do you have any tips to how to get rid of the kick board and get confidence by yourself
I want this kind of teacher he is so patient, i cant swim and i dream if surfing😩 in too anxious to get lessons 🙁
I can swim in the sea but I get tired easily after 30 secs ? I wonder what al I doing wrong, am I too stiff? The breathing technique is wrong?

fabulous
Unfortunately I’m stuck in this stage for a while now 😔
When my head tilted and the water got in my ear, I felt a sting in my ear and was startled. And then a panic and drowned. Please help
Did he ever manage to do a handstand?
Gilette!
Go Harry go Harry go….

Keep it up Harry, you are doing fantastic.
I started swimming 5 months ago at the age of 29, I'm still not great but I can swim now.
You can do it.🦾
That's awesome! Well done on learning - it's no easy thing 👌
