It makes me think a lot of Rosso the Crimson from Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus. When she is beaten she says that she has lost and Vincent will not get the honor of her death. She then kill’s herself by jumping off like the 60th floor of a building before saying she won.

I'm a Psychologist and an amateur writer. And one of the reasons why we say Isaac is the goat is bc of his growth. While Hector and Him end up reaching the same conclusions, Hector goes through the path of repent, he feels he deserves all the bad. Isaac goes through the route of acceptance and growth. He doesn't feel he failed Dracula, or that he need to redeem himself. At the end he kills Carmilla because he believes that will be better for the world. And to me, the fact that we learn maturity and acceptance from a former radicalist and genocide advocate is peak art

Don't forget that it was a conversation with a Pirate Captain that taught him the value of Human kindness and ultimately set him on his path. Which is quite funny, since it's the last person you'd expect to advocate for the good traits of humanity, or even be a good person. Isaac really found good advice in a place where you least expect it and precisely when he needed it too.

And now you understand why I love Isaac.
It is a rare occurrence to see such a deep character that reach a form of redemption and get more and more dimensions along the progress of a season. He is now good in some ways, but not in a moral way, he is beyond morality, he has became good in the most primitive humane way, just wanting to create something for the future, just wanting to help people to live, like what he did by rebuilding the city of the mad magician he defeated to left it as a gift for anyone to inhabit.
    Also Striga and Morana

6:14 Hector asked Isaac for his knife specifically, because he couldn't do it with any knife (or he would have done it already). I believe Isaac's knife contains powerful magic that was able to break the ring's spell. And I love how Isaac cauterized Hector's wound afterwards, such a tender moment. Overall, this episode gave a satisfying resolution for these two, and Isaac's speech in the end was very touching and wise.

Yeah, Forge magic is also living human exclusive so it likely counters the vampire magic on the binding spell of the ring. By using Isaac's he could bypass the rule that didn't allow him to remove it by himself.

It sneaks by, but back in Season 3, the Mad Forgemaster who told Isaac about the magician doing mind control, she mentioned he had a “particularly large and wide” transmission mirror. It’s part of why Isaac ultimately fights the Magician; the mirror probably saved a march of a few hundred miles.

    • @no1guy825
      @no1guy825 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

sneaks by? There's a scene of him finding the mirror and clapping it together and looking back at the Old Magician. And then at the end of last episode he USED it to do this right here. I'm baffled how they forgot and didn't notice it again

I kind of like that the designated heroes (Trevor, Sypha, Alucard) not only never fight Carmilla, they never even become *aware* of her. She has her whole little betrayal scheme upended by them entirely by a fluke of timing, and the repercussions of that end up getting her killed before they can ever come into conflict.

For myself personally, this is one of my favourite episodes, and I am glad that you both really liked the episode as well.
Isaac and Carmilla, have a lot in common. Both have been wronged by others, and lashed back with violence, and in doing so, proven themselves powerful and competent. Vampires in this show, though are often shown to almost become stunted in growth, perhaps to their long lives, and they sort of seem vulnerable to stagnation. Which is why Isaacs thoughts about growth and change, new possibilities versus the idea of a long continuous night... So whilst both characters were impressively cool, competent, powerful, Carmilla sort of got lost in her ambition, rage, anger, revenge. Isaac got moments of reflection, introspection, and conversation with a few different side characters, notably the Captain and Miranda. He took such opportunities, and grew, and it was slow and subtle at times, but the pay off and resolution was satisfying.
I have noticed that some other peoples reaction to this show, thoughts, views, feelings towards Hector, compared to my own, can be a little... harsh. Its not that I do not understand them or see where they are coming from, Hector is not perfect, but i do view him, as a somewhat naive and sheltered person, who had a tough and traumatic childhood, and so easy to manipulate. Not even really just manipulate, but lacking the experience, and foundations to understand better. Which is why Dracula was direct with Issac but didn't have that same relationship with Hector.
Which also makes this episodes reunion between Issac and Hector satisfying to myself as well, because as well as symbolising both characters growth, resilience, it examines the differences and similarities, and strengths of the characters. They do not need to be rivals or in competition. Issac is cool, and badass, but perhaps more importantly he is now wise, understanding, reflective, and that, I think is quite special.

How he went from a jaded person who didn’t care about people or the world to a warm and wise person who wants to nurture people and the world is the best thing to watch. Isaac is easily the best character in the show, and there's a strong cast. I connect with his arc, and his final scene still hits me.
"They convince us there is no future. There's only an eternal now, and the best we can do is survive until dawn and do it all again.
That's no way to live, and I've discovered to some surprise that I am in interested in living.
I am interested in building a way to live.
And I think I will start here.
    [...]
I will instead build something new on all these old bones.
Something where people can live for a future.
    I'm going to live."
Isaac's story is that of a pure and loving child, tortured and betrayed, losing his soul to hate, and then finding his soul again. It's my favorite character arc in this show.

I TRULY detest Carmilla! BUT her story is one of the most beautiful, tragic, and enthralling parts of this tale to me! She lost herself so much in her relentless pursuit of vengeance, that in the end she died having lived EXACTLY as the crazy old mad men she hated so much! Lost so deep in a pursuit for power, greed and brutality that after she finally tipped over the edge, or at least couldn't hide her true intentions any further, she was put down for trying to drink up more than she could ever help to take in. Truly what an incredible show this is!

And thus the Isaac character arc reaches its climax, in a phenomenal episode! The battle against Carmilla was amazing, from so many angles. She was far superior, and he knew that. He knew better than to try to beat her 1v1, so he made sure it *wasn't* 1v1. It wasn't a fair fight, nor could it have been. He brought everything he had against her to make sure he won. For her part, she refused to bow to him, and didn't give him the satisfaction of the kill, taking herself out. Both were badass in their own way. In the end, the maturation of Isaac, and his bond with Hector, was one of the best arcs I've seen in TV. Such a damn good show! Thank you for reacting to this wonderful series! ❤🐺

One thing I like about Carmilla vs Isaac is how it puts Carmilla's "plan" in perspective (powerscaling-wise); she was worn out after fighting Isaac's night creatures, not even other vampires, and then Isaac, a human, backed by some monsters, took her out. Sypha, Trevor and Alucard wiped the floor with Dracula's generals, who are supposed to be top-tier vampires, and still when they fought a blood-starved Dracula, they got whooped and only won because Dracula let Alucard stake him. So how exactly did she think it was gonna go? Was she gonna fight Dracula and take him out by herself?

@SuperDecimator Maybe, but we don't even know if Holy Water would kill Dracula. The Morning Star didn't, and it oneshotted every vampire until then. Only staking, beheading and burning him worked

Dracula has been on peace-mode for a very long time. Almost nobody knew how truly powerful he really was.
She probably knew he was stronger than her, but I doubt she understood the enormity of the difference. Dracula is almost god-like in Castlevania, with even Death working for him, but few people know that.
She also knew he had been starving himself for a while.
I would say it is reasonably to guess that she used herself as a measure and put Dracula just a bit above her, with her ego. So she was justified in thinking that she could just throw her men at Dracula until he was too tired and finished him off herself.
Obviously, she didn't know that even starved, Dracula was still more powerful than anyone around.

    • @pabloc8808
      @pabloc8808 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

I rather doubt that Sigia and Morana(sorry about the spelling) would have risked a rescue mission for Lenoir. They had already decided that they didn't need her, which was probably why they were so quick to decide that she was dead.
The final battle between Isaac and Camila was quite something. He was cold, intelligent, and disciplined, using his creatures to help while she was lashing out with sheer ferocity

The great thing about Carmilla in this show is that she is loosely based on the novel Carmilla, which predates Bram Stoker's Dracula by more than 30 years. One of the many reasons it has not become so culturally popular is because it's about a woman, but it also very clearly portrays a lesbian relationship. Editors have gone back to research the author LeFanu and his source of inspiration. Turns out there was a series of letters between two women who were having a romantic affair. Of course, in 1872, when LeFanu wrote the novel, he was never going to tell that story. Thankfully, it can now be retold or edited to reflect the original story. It's quite good and not very long. Highly recommend it.

I absolutely love how Issac was absolutely going into this battle looking to kill Hector but when he had the chance he decided to spare and forgive him because as he said “You and I Hector, we have been children. Revenge is for children. It is our duty to grow up, don’t you think?” But what I REALLY love is how in the end Issac decides to take The Captain’s words to heart and rule so he can teach people how to be kind, and that with peace and serenity in his heart the last words we hear him say in the series is *“I’m going to live.”*

"she'd win the 1vs1" well yeah he knew that lol. Its why he brought a whole army. Another point in isaac's growth. He went there to just kill her, not prove he was better, not get revenge for dracula, not enslaving hector. Just to kill her because he honestly ( and rightly) felt she'd be too big of a threat to the world. It always reminds me how you never meet someone who is both hateful and traveled the world. The more isaac travel the more people he met and the more rounded his view became. Yeah hes not a "good guy", but if you think back to what he said after killing the city magician. It felt good to kill him because it set something in the world right, well hey how many places in the world we actually live in could use that sort of treatment.

Carmilla became what she hated in the end and had a similar death to Dracula in that someone has to intervene to kill them because they thought it would make the world a better place.

I think Hector does have feelings for lonore and a bit of which made him easy to be manipulated which in turn led him to have a bit of Stockholm syndrome, and I think lenor did have feelings for him but the loyalty to her sisters outweighed it, hector situation wasn't very desirable but it was his fault and it could have been worse in my opinion

Never liked Isaac 😁 I agree he's got a great arc, but I never ever saw him in trouble (maybe 5 seconds with the evil wizard? nah). His arc of growth was all in his mind, and that was amazing nonetheless, but I'd have preferred to see him struggle a bit more in the pursue of his plans, or being overwhelmed by an opposing force if only for one episode. Being so powerful and relentless and getting to these conclusions makes him very wise for sure, but doesn't help me to empathize with him that much. Just my 2 cents, of course...
