    I am SOOO GRATEFUL for these videos. I am a teacher myself (not currently an IT teacher) and I fascinated by his teaching style. His simplicity and energy make his classes very engaging, I really enjoy watching these lessons , let alone the fact that I am learning A LOT! (I have a whole library on more "modern" lessons on networking , but nobody beats this guy!) Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us!

    Thank you much for sharing your teachings Nicholas.. sad to see you have stopped making videos .. and I can see that you are a good man by the way you relate your teachings and topics to ethical and moral values... I wish I could have learned and been educated from you in person. .sadly it might not be possible as I'm located on the other half of the planet from you...so kindly make more videos and make dumb people like me understand better ..love and respect from India.

    in your example, shouldn't the name be more like the physical addresses (MAC addresses) instead of "logical" as you mention since it is given to you at birth, and can hardly be changed, while your location being the logical address (IP address), as a certain name, can sit anywhere, thereof changing it's row/seat while maintaining its name ?

    • @anglojojo
      @anglojojo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jasmin Ouellet It was just an example, and a good one if you ask me.
      However, a name can be changed as it is not hard coded onto your physical body. The seat represents the physical location of the person (Network Device).
      I wouldn't go too specific into this example, as it is just a conceptual example.
      Either way IP and MAC addresses are used for the same purpose which is locating a device and each operates on a different layer. (also even a MAC address can be changed, more accurately spoofing it)

      100% right.

    • @dirkdeklerk325
      @dirkdeklerk325 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      From year to year or even lecture to lecture, names within a seat can change. But that seat will always be R1S1, but the person with in the seat can change from Chad to . Rather think of the seat as a physical device with a burnt in MAC address, then the analogy makes perfect sense. The individual occupying the seat is simply the IP address assigned to that seat. In the real world an ISP assigns IP address to your device via dynamic IP address. Thus the lecturer will be the ISP if he assigned students to particular seats.
