If you're overweight and at the gym the most people will think of you is "well done mate for taking the first step". So don't be afraid, just do your thing, be healthy and if you need/want help just ask for it, 99/100 people there will happily help you with your technique or recommend routines. But don't bother people with massive headphones, they wear them for a reason.
