Hi ladies and Happy New Year! I use my grandmother’s rosary daily. It has clear round beads with a silver crucifix. She has been gone for almost 18 years, but It holds such a special place in my heart. I remember as a child hearing her pray with it in bed in the early mornings. I have many other rosaries, but this is the one I cannot live without. It’s so great that we can all have such beautiful and different rosaries with wonderful memories attached to them. Thank you for sharing yours 🙂
We loved hearing about your grandmother's rosary- what a special and beautiful way to stay connected with her. We are sure she is so happy you are using it 😊
So beautiful ladies! I have my grandmother’s rosary. She was my only Catholic family member and when I converted in my 20’s she had already declined a lot. I was photographed with her rosary on my wedding day ❤ Before I had her rosary I found a very striking one at a flea market and had to rescue it. I absolutely loved it so only God knows why, I gave it to a young man that was anti Catholic. I gave him a note along with it explaining how to use it. That man is now a very devout Catholic and my husband - my treasured rosary came back to me as well. ❤
I think the multi-colored one is a World Missionary Rosary. According to their website Green symbolizes the forests and grasslands of Africa Blue is the oceans surrounding the islands of the Pacific White symbolizes Europe, home of the Holy Father, shepherd of the world Red recalls the fire of faith that brought the first missionaries to the America Yellow is for the morning light of the East, symbolizing Asia and the Middle East
I have a plastic glow in the dark rosary that sits on my night table. I found it while cleaning out my parents' home after they passed...I believe it is from the 70s. It is so wonderful to see it glowing by the bed at night and sometimes I wrap it around my wrist as I fall asleep. Another great rosary is just the fingers on your hands...just using your fingers is a great way to pray the rosary while out walking or while on a walking pilgrimage.
I love rosaries so much! I collect them and have at least 35 or 40. Ive lost count so i plan to catalog them. I keep one next to my favorite chair, one in my car and one in my purse. One hangs on a Blessed Mother statue made for that purpose. I have a wall rack that hold the rest. I switch them out frequently according to the month, holiday or my mood. Starting my day every day with the rosary has added so many blessings to my life. I dont think i could ever pick a favorite.
For a green rosary, you might want to try Ghirelli rosaries. They have several green rosaries, including a Saint Patrick and a Our Lady of Knock. I have one of their rosaries, and they are very well made and nice to hold in the hand.
Thanks for sharing these. They're all beautiful. I have a plain white one that is getting a little rusty/tarnished. And a red one that I keep in my purse when I travel to the big city. We've had 2 priests in our village since last week! One has been here a few weeks because the church's water/sewer lines froze in the village he serves on the Kuskokwin river. The other one is new & going to be our regular priest for our village & 2 other villages he'll serve. We got to have rosary with both of them last week. I appreciate you so, so much !
That's fantastic news, Lena! (not the frozen lines, but having two priests). It is so great that your village will have a regular priest :) What a blessing for the New Year!
I have only one rosary that I have bought for myself and many that I have made for myself. I guess my favourite one would be one of those self-made cord rosaries with wooden beads. Not that my self-made rosaries are that great, but I have learned that I like smaller and corded rosaries. I have also made a few rosaries of metal wire, but I probably chose too heavy beads (stone) for those, and they are quite fragile and the one I've bought (metal wire with wooden beads) just feels too long in my hands when I like to pray the rosary in bed. It just feels so tangled and long.😂 I also find making of rosaries super relaxing and comforting. Most of those rosaries that I've made have been made in a stressful season, like the time before losing my grandmother or when my pet had respiratory issues. I guess it's my way of coping with difficult situations and keeping Mary close to me in those hard times.
Hello fellow rosary maker😇. I agree, making Rosaries is very soothing. I love giving them away as gifts and to the Church (who in turn gives them away to the funeral homes for the rosary group prayer before the funeral.)
A friend from Church bought me a rosary that smells like roses. I use that at my Church Rosary group. I haven't yet found an everyday favourite yet. I hope to. One time I had a fall and hurt myself. I was taken to A and E. My rosary (the one that smells) was in my handbag at the bottom of the trolley I was on while waiting to see the Dr. I wanted to do the Rosary while waiting (mostly because it's so calming!) But it was too painful to move. I used my fingers. (I was OK!) As soon as I got home I got online and ordered a rosary bracelet!
My favorite rosary (which I always use) has white beads, and after every decade the bead on which to pray the Our Father is replaced by a small image of Bernadette Soubirous. Which I love. And one that I also cherish is a red beaded Ghirelli rosary of Padre Pio, where the Our Father-beads are replaced by a silver colored hand with stigmata. But I never use it - it is just draped over an image of Padre Pio. Although I grew up Catholic in the seventies, I never learned the rosary or saw anyone do that. So I started on my own on October (rosary-month!) 2023. And an interesting book by the way, I´ll look that up!
Your St. Bernadette rosary sounds lovely. And the Ghirelli rosaries- wow! Just looked at their website, and the rosaries there are just so beautiful. We would love to pray with any one of those. Thanks for sharing!
Like another subscriber wrote, I LOVE Ghirelli Rosaries. They're hand made, very beautiful, & not very pricey. They're definitely heirloom items. I have two, one for St. Joseph & the other Our Lady of Fatima. Another one I frequently use was gifted to me on St. Patrick's Day. It's a long, gorgeous green Connemara Rosary with the Celtic cross & Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal as the centerpiece. My other favorite Rosary is a lovely blue Rosary handmade & gifted to me by a friend who died recently. That one is so long I can wear it comfortably around my neck & has Our Lady of Grace as the centerpiece. Praying the Rosary calms, soothes, & strengthens me. I really feel Our Blessed Mother is near & protecting me 💙
I love rosaries but it was not like that in the past. 😂 I remember my grandma (rip) praying with a ring rosary. She also had an Iridescent one that captivated me. When she passed, I found that she left an empty purse at home. When I checked it out it had the Iridescent rosary inside. It touched my heart. I kept it. But never was I ever a rosary praying gal. Until my 40's. Our lady called me to more. To know her son through the rosary and let it guide me through the sorrow I was living. I have never looked back. Now I have too many. But each with a special story to them. I have them everywhere. Purse, car, adoration bag, office, praying chair, night stand, you name it. My kids have grown to love it as I do. They always carry one in their necks and are very jealous with them. My oldest is not keen to use it in his neck (except for october that I make him use it all month long😂😂), so he has a ring one that he carries in his purse. I have favorites. BIS one is made such that you cant wear it but just to pray, they are sturdy. I have Our Lady's one, but would love to have them all😂😂😂 I bought 2 at JP2 shrine in DC, a pearl one that reminds me of my grandma, and a crystal one that make me feel JP2 directing me. The one in my room is very special as it was the first one I bought, so it feels like home. I also have a turquouse one in my adoration bag, a clear one in my office and a deep blue one that I need to fix that is in my car along with a ring one. I also have ring one to gift and I always carry a rosary bracelet with me that I have a collection too😅😅 Omgsh... I know is too much... but I have no excuse not to use them. I love that everywhere I have one to pray with❤
It's beautiful that you are surrounded by them, just as we are surrounded by the love of Jesus and his mother. Mother Teresa always gave away rosaries; she would approve
This is a great reminder to think about our special rosaries! Kate, I also have my First Communion rosary. I also have a few from deceased friends, one from Rome and one the Shrine of St. Anne here in Massachusetts. I have a couple of olive wood rosaries from my trip to the Holy Land and my Grandmother’s rosary that she used daily.
I have many rosaries as you do, but my favorite rosary that I keep with me always has simple wooden beads with a beautiful crucifix. I’ve added a blessed Miraculous Medal to it. My First Communion rosary from 1957 was so beautiful, it had pearls that had a stainless wire wrapped around the beads. The crucifix was the most beautiful one too. I gave it to our oldest daughter on her First Communion in the late 70s. Another favorite is a light pink crystal rosary my mom had made for me many years ago, that is a treasure. I have several rosary bracelets that I wear frequently. I love your First Communion rosary, Jennifer and the pressed rose one Jennifer. God bless you, Linda
I have collected several rosaries when visiting a basilica with a store I buy more than one, I have them blessed and give them away when I see the need in others of sacramentals and prayer. I’ve kept several and love them all.
That's such a wonderful idea- giving them away like that. Mother Teresa did the same; she would definitely approve of your love and generosity. Have a happy and blessed New Year!
I loved seeing all your pretty rosaries! My favorite one belonged to my dad and it is from Lourdes. I believe my great aunt got it when she was a nurse in WWII and visited Lourdes. I also have a medal from her that she sent to my grandma. It does get tangled sometimes so I would like to get a soft one and also a more feminine one. My dad's is black and not fancy. I love looking for vintage ones at church sales and flea markets.
Wow- what a neat story behind your rosary! Thank you for sharing it. We also love to look for pretty/vintage/interesting rosaries. Jennifer likes to give them away to her catechism students :)
Can you discuss how you repair your rosaries? Do you have special tools you use? Also, do you hang up your rosaries or keep them in individual bags? Thanks! ❤
Hello- for repair we generally use a pair of curved mosquito forceps or hemostats; that sounds odd but works really well (for repairs of all kinds!). We store ours on hangers- but usually just one per hanger so they don't get tangled- or in zip pouches or drawstring bags (the small jewelry type made from tulle). We like the drawstring bags because they tend to take up less room than the pouches. Hope that helps!
My first rosary was an $11 dollar one with wood beads from Amazon. It actually arrived broken, and I repaired it with a turquoise bead and also switched out the light weight crucifix for a nicer one off e-bay. IIRC, I was still attending Baptist church at that point (now an RCIA student). I made a pretty pink and green rosary, with a silver three-way, and it sat uncompleted until I could find a nice crucifix for it. After the crucifix (another e-bay purchase) arrived, I misplaced the project, and it is still missing. Another rosary that is missing is a reproduction single-decade brass colored one from Rugged Rosaries. Bugs me that I can't find either of those two - its not like our house is a mess! The one I pray with the most was made by Carmelite nuns, and is sterling silver with blue stone beads. I keep another by the bed that was one of many passed out to the congregation after mass one Saturday evening. Comfortable to sleep with, but inexpensively made, and falling apart. At some point, I'll have to restring it.
It's wonderful that you can repair your rosaries! That is a true skill. For the missing ones, call in St. Anthony. You can ask him to help you find them; he is a true help when things go missing. We're excited to hear you are in RCIA! We will keep you in our prayers; please pray for us 😊
I'm glad to see the Parochial Vicar takes his rosary seriously! My favorite rosary is a WWI combat-style rosary. I like it because it's indestructible, which it needs to be because it goes everywhere with me. It lives in a pocket in my purse, and my purse takes a beating. I can pull it out whenever I am waiting somewhere. I have a beautiful, ornate rosary that I thought was the most beautiful rosary I had ever seen. I still think so, but all the filigree makes it uncomfortable to use. I am still looking for a more feminine-looking rosary that is soothing to touch, but have yet to find one.
Lol- he was beside himself with joy when all the rosaries came out. We'd love to see a picture of your fancy rosary… maybe email it to us? Kate's pink rosary has a very nice, soothing feel. The beads are so smooth, and they have a nice weight. We think it originally came from The Catholic Company on line.
Both of your rosaries are beautiful. My Mom’s (God rest her soul) favorite color was green and so my SIL gifted her a beautiful gold/jade rosary of which she was interred with. I have 2 regular Marian blue paracord rosaries, one with acrylic silver beads and the other one with just plain white ones. I also have a St. Padre Pio rose scented decade rosary of which I take with me when I leave the house.
My everyday Rosary has small, wooden beads and in the center of the wooden cross is a tiny, round plastic insert. If you place the cross right in front of your eye, you can see a tiny portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
@ It’s a story - wanted a Rosary with dark, mahogany colored beads that were not round (comfort). Couldn’t find what I wanted for weeks of searching until I found one morning (after praying a reg morning Rosary) used on EBay for $7. When it arrived, it appears to be a souvenir from Mexico City. Each decade marker bead had a picture of Her also. After 4 years of 15 decade minimum days it fell apart so I bought a new, not round, mahogany beaded Rosary new (now easy to find) and switched the crucifixes!
My favorite rosary is my first one from 1999 when I received my sacraments. I just recently found it in an old bag, I was giving away. I’m still waiting on my Rosary In A Year book.
I make rosaries. The traditional type, rope ones, rope with beads, and my favorite is the ladder type with rope and beads. If I get interrupted the bead I was on stays put and I know exactly where I left off.
Hello ladies! My favorite Rosary is a simple blue rope Rosary that is so soft and so "prayed up." It was this soft, simple Rosary that I held onto during Covid when I was struggling to recover. It was like having our Lady hold my hand every day. Your Rosaries are all so beautiful and unique! I am one of those people waiting on the backorder list for my Rosary book. So, thank you so much for the sneak peek! I have been listening to Father Mark Mary every day on the podcast. It is so wonderful and I can't wait to get the book. God bless you both! Happy New Year, and may your whole family continue to be richly blessed! You are such a blessing to me. Thank you. ❤
We love how your rosary is "prayed up"! What a great way to put it. We are also enjoying the podcast very much… a New Year's present that will last all year :)
I have a really beautiful green rosary made from Connemara marble. You can get them from Ireland online, the colours are so lovely. I am doing the Rosary In A Year as well, unfortunately they don't post to Australia, but the daily meditations are just wonderful....his voice is so calming.
Fr. Mark Mary is such a wonderful, humble priest. His Friars of the Renewal live and work in a very tough area of the Bronx in NY…. they bought their house there for $1 (it was condemned by the city) and restored it themselves. Ascension offers an ebook version of the prayer guide that might be helpful for you. Yes- postage to Australia is pricey! Thanks for the tip about the Connemara marble… we will look into it!
I love all the beautiful rosaries and I love to see people holding them at Mass or praying with them. I have one rosary - it was given to me by my Confirmation sponsor and so it is very special to me. Full disclosure though, I pray the rosary daily but I use my fingers instead of a rosary! Am I the only one? 😄
Nope- you are not alone. We also frequently use our fingers, especially when driving. We think God planned out the whole ten finger thing in advance, lol.
I have a beautiful and expensive rosary made out of blue Howlite crystals (similar to turquoise) but my favorite one is a baby blue glass rosary I bought on Amazon for under $10. There is something different about that and is the one I pray with daily.
As the book is not yet available via Amazon in Canada, I downloaded a PDF version from Ascension press. I saved the reading plan in Goodreads. So far, I’m on day four of five.
As far as rosaries I own with stories behind them, I received a beautiful amethyst one from a friend in Australia as a birthday gift a couple years ago. As for rosary wishlist... a nice solid wood one. I have an heirloom one, but it's quite fragile, so another I could use to actually pray with would be nice.
Sometimes we get nice wooden rosaries donated to our church library, and Jennifer's students love these for all the reasons you mentioned. They just feel solid and strong. Maybe this will be the year you find one :)
Thank you i dont have a rosary but i have a question and pray yous will answer me what do you think about astrology thank you God bless yous Angela from Colorado ❤
Hello- the Catechism of the Catholic Church warns against any form of divination, which astrology in general is a form of, so we steer clear here of anything like horoscopes, fortune tellers, New Age stuff, etc. Jimmy Akin from Catholic Answers has a good discussion about it that you can listen to hear: www.catholic.com/audio/caf/can-catholics-follow-astrology Hope that helps!
As far as we can tell, it is not available on Amazon. You can order it from Ascension Press, but it's currently out of stock. However, thanks to another viewer, we do know that you can buy and download a pdf/ebook version here: ascensionpress.com/products/prayerguide?srsltid=AfmBOopzsmKf0dMKe8lzm-BtSsbo7qHcAVJ_LFhGmaQRbIAB0vsW0kWR Hope that helps!
What is your favorite rosary? We'd love to hear about it!
@catholicmomanddaughter I love the holy family rosary I
Love all the rosaries
Hi ladies and Happy New Year! I use my grandmother’s rosary daily. It has clear round beads with a silver crucifix. She has been gone for almost 18 years, but It holds such a special place in my heart. I remember as a child hearing her pray with it in bed in the early mornings. I have many other rosaries, but this is the one I cannot live without. It’s so great that we can all have such beautiful and different rosaries with wonderful memories attached to them.
I was photographed with her rosary on my wedding day ❤
Before I had her rosary I found a very striking one at a flea market and had to rescue it. I absolutely loved it so only God knows why, I gave it to a young man that was anti Catholic. I gave him a note along with it explaining how to use it. That man is now a very devout Catholic and my husband - my treasured rosary came back to me as well. ❤
What a wonderful story! God truly works in mysterious ways… thought we also believe the Blessed Mother and St. Anne are excellent match makers :)
I think the multi-colored one is a World Missionary Rosary. According to their website Green symbolizes the forests and grasslands of Africa
Blue is the oceans surrounding the islands of the Pacific
White symbolizes Europe, home of the Holy Father, shepherd of the world
Red recalls the fire of faith that brought the first missionaries to the America
Yellow is for the morning light of the East, symbolizing Asia and the Middle East
Oh, thank you, Kathy! We always say our viewers are the best :) We love the symbolism behind each color. Now we like this rosary even more.
I have a plastic glow in the dark rosary that sits on my night table. I found it while cleaning out my parents' home after they passed...I believe it is from the 70s. It is so wonderful to see it glowing by the bed at night and sometimes I wrap it around my wrist as I fall asleep. The glow in the dark rosary is awesome- and it is so neat that it's from your parents. Thanks for sharing this story!
Very nice, positive and useful video, thank you very much!
Congratulations from the indomitable and unconquered Ukraine!
Glad you liked it! We hope 2025 brings peace to your country.
A rosary from Santa Fe, we visited the Miraculous Staircase, and my husband purchased a lovely olive wood bead rosary .
I love my olive wood bead rosary.
I love my olive wood bead rosary.
What a great memento of a beautiful place. The Miraculous Staircase is a work of art.
I love rosaries so much! I collect them and have at least 35 or 40. Ive lost count so i plan to catalog them. I keep one next to my favorite chair, one in my car and one in my purse. Starting my day every day with the rosary has added so many blessings to my life. I dont think i could ever pick a favorite.
A wall rack is a good idea! Thanks for sharing this tip :)
For a green rosary, you might want to try Ghirelli rosaries. They have several green rosaries, including a Saint Patrick and a Our Lady of Knock. I have one of their rosaries, and they are very well made and nice to hold in the hand.
The Ghirelli rosaries are so beautiful… thanks for the tip!

The Ghirelli rosaries really are just so beautiful! It sounds like your St. Patrick rosary is lovely, too (and would work for Ordinary Time, lol)
My daughter and I have matching white gold rosaries that were a gift from Mexico that are blessed 🥰
Love this! That is really neat… thanks for sharing :)

It's beautiful that you are surrounded by them, just as we are surrounded by the love of Jesus and his mother. Mother Teresa always gave away rosaries; she would approve

We love that you passed on your FHC rosary to your daughter for her FHC. That is really neat!
I have collected several rosaries when visiting a basilica with a store I buy more than one, I have them blessed and give them away when I see the need in others of sacramentals and prayer. I’ve kept several and love them all.

We loved hearing about your rosaries. Blue for the Blessed Mother and roses with Padre Pio… these are big winners in our books :)
My everyday Rosary has small, wooden beads and in the center of the wooden cross is a tiny, round plastic insert. If you place the cross right in front of your eye, you can see a tiny portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
That is really cool! Do you mind if we ask where you found it?
Good thing you checked your bag! We're so glad it resurfaced for you :)
I make rosaries. The traditional type, rope ones, rope with beads, and my favorite is the ladder type with rope and beads. If I get interrupted the bead I was on stays put and I know exactly where I left off.
The ladder rosaries are so neat! They always remind us that we are climbing the ladder to heaven when we pray :)
@@catholicmomanddaughteryes🎉 I love that! Thank you 🎁
Hello ladies!
@catholicmomanddaughter ❤️
I use my fingers to pray the Rosary when I drive - so convenient!
Nope- you are not alone. We also frequently use our fingers, especially when driving. We think God planned out the whole ten finger thing in advance, lol.
The roses rosary Remind me at my grandma She really loved roses
May she rest in peace in the eternal rose garden with Jesus and Mary
@ thank you
One more video that I wanted to give it a like since the moment I saw it!
Thank you! Happy New Year :)
I love the Ghirelli rosaries, they are dedicated to different liturgical seasons or have references to Marian apparitions, e.g. in Knox or Fatima
We have been enjoying looking at all their beautiful rosaries at the website. So many wonderful options!
I have a beautiful and expensive rosary made out of blue Howlite crystals (similar to turquoise) but my favorite one is a baby blue glass rosary I bought on Amazon for under $10. There is something different about that and is the one I pray with daily.
That is so interesting! Would you mind sharing the link for the one on Amazon?
As the book is not yet available via Amazon in Canada, I downloaded a PDF version from Ascension press. I saved the reading plan in Goodreads. So far, I’m on day four of five.
Nice! Good to know the pdf version is a go, and you were smart to think of it. Thank you for sharing!
Jimmy Akin from Catholic Answers has a good discussion about it that you can listen to hear: www.catholic.com/audio/caf/can-catholics-follow-astrology
Hope that helps!
Please tell me where you got the Blessed Mother’s print/picture behind you. I really like that. Thanks in advance.
Hello- that picture is a favorite of ours; it is a picture made of fabric that a local artist made. We think it is so beautiful!
I'm doing the rosary in a year too but I don't have the book, yet. Can it be purchased thru Amazon? Do you know where I can get it ?
As far as we can tell, it is not available on Amazon. You can order it from Ascension Press, but it's currently out of stock. However, thanks to another viewer, we do know that you can buy and download a pdf/ebook version here: ascensionpress.com/products/prayerguide?srsltid=AfmBOopzsmKf0dMKe8lzm-BtSsbo7qHcAVJ_LFhGmaQRbIAB0vsW0kWR
Hope that helps!
