    I love the whole of this routine, but the tiny little balletic jump at 0:34 just encapsulates it all for me; light, charming, dainty and beautifully danced. Gorka's a wonderful choreographer, and in Alexandra he's found the perfect dancer for it.

    Beautiful. Brilliantly choreographed and performed. A lovely, cute little routine. Well done guys. If it wasn't for the music clearly being from My Fair Lady those outfits would have really suited a Mary Poppins themed dance.

    Aw. I love My Fair Lady, and it's official Alex is my Alesha Mk II! She always dances from within, just like Alesha! This time she even paid attention to the correct techniques when in hold. I would like them more in hold, but otherwise, it was a delightfully sweet routine. 8!

    • @dajtoad1
      @dajtoad1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luverly. And I'm not just talking about Gorka's backside in those trousers :) But did they spend any time at all in hold, though? I can't see it. Not one second. Holding hands, yes. In hold, no. I actually wasn't even sure what the basic dance was supposed to be. Foxtrot? Thought I saw a little bit of that in there. A bit of polka. Then mostly some nice dancing and twirling. Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed it. A lot. And I hope she gets to the final - they're a great partnership. I just thought it a bit rich that TLDM got penalised for more than 10 seconds apart (albeit in a regular QS, not an AS), whereas Alex didn't get penalised for missing the 50/50 (or 60/40) rule by a margin of about 99%.

      It's still better than Artem and Kara's half-beat in ballroom hold American Smooth. Here there were four to eight beats in ballroom hold. But they were fleeting, admittedly. It would have scored higher from me otherwise... Edit to add: It's a foxtrot based AS. With a little hint of quicksteppy stylisation in parts.

    • @dajtoad1
      @dajtoad1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Scd Observer ah, but you forget. Artem gets my official "exception to everything" rule because I luz him! Anything he did was totes fine by me!

      American Smooth, which is really more of a dance STYLE than an actual dance. Usually, it refers to American Smooth Foxtrot, which has a much lighter and airier look and feel to it than International Standard Foxtrot, and the rule regarding staying hold isn't nearly as rigid as it is in International Standard. I personally thought it was a very charming dance.

    Lovely concept, it was very elegant, and lovely indeed. She moved very gracefully, her musicality and her lines were really great. I do think she needs to work on her top line because it was weak and. In addition, there wasn't really enough foxtrot in this American Smooth... it definitely wasn't 50%,50%... it was lacking proper a Foxtrot content for me. So, as much as I loved this number as a whole, I give it a 7.

    I am gutted they chose this as judges choice rather than her Paso, I really wanted to see it in the final and she cannot get high scores for this even if she perfects it as she is not in hold long enough and it is not stylish enough to get a perfect score, very unfair if you ask me.

    Had to watch this back to remind myself as this was the judges choice for them to dance on the final. WHY THIS ONE? The jive or paso would've been a crowd pleaser, but definitely the WRONG choice. Feels like they know Alexandra's a strong dancer so they want to even the competition out. Won't be wowed with this one, but hope they pick one of the two I've mentioned as their favourite choice and perform a spectacular showdance on the night.

    Is the first finale dance still the judge's favorite? Because this seems like an odd choice. Even if she likely picked her jive herself, I was expected her Paso or Charleston to make a return.

    I'm not going to lie, felt disappointing compared to last week.
    Movie Week sometimes sets certain couples back a step while others are propelled into the spotlight. Think this was very under the radar. Almost like they gave her a week off really.
    Hopefully she'll have the Cha Cha or Tango next week - Latin seems to be more up her street imo.
    I'd still give them a 9 for Gorka's choreography and bum

    • @Ukaszenkooo
      @Ukaszenkooo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well some people were saying that they don't think Alex can dance a cute and lovely dance after her amazing paso. So it's good that they got to show off her gentle side more. And Im pretty sure next week they will get some latino dance. So they will bring out the heat once again. And that's good for them.
      This way she's not the all fav (like Aston is for eg.) she's some kind of an underdog. And that might work just in her favour

    • @laurajones3353
      @laurajones3353 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah Alex needs a 'journey' as she's been on the stage etc. I still freaking love watching them dance but I don't want a repeat of Louise Redknapp last year... she started off so good but that was the problem... she was stuck being 'good...but not amazing' until the Argentine Tango. IDK getting these vibes from Alex and Gorka... hope I am wrong!

    • @blahdlah1920
      @blahdlah1920 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      laura jones Tango is not Latin, but I know what you mean. Alexandra suits the more passionate and exciting dances.
      As for comment about Louise Redknapp...I liked her but I genuinely believe Alex is far better than she ever was. She was technically solid most of the time (I remember her Cha Cha not being grounded at all), but she never sold her performances.

    • @laurajones3353
      @laurajones3353 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I meant like a really passionate dance, Tango fits the bill lol! Sorry...
      Just loved the fire they had last week, heck a week later and it still looks amazing! And yes I think Alex has the potential to blow away anyone... LR was tired at the end of the series sadly. That Cha Cha to 'Flashdance' is still a guilty please of mine but it wasn't a technically strong dance by any means. Would love to see someone with Alex's dance skills take on that tune and dance routine.

    • @blahdlah1920
      @blahdlah1920 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      laura jones No need to apologise! :D
      And you like what you like, no problem with that. I really enjoyed a lot of Louise's performances but I definitely think Alex can deliver more than she could.

      And so can Aston. So shall we eliminate him as well, along with Molly King. Dances choreographed for music videos and ballroom are as far apart as chocolate and cheese.

    • @doglover12373
      @doglover12373 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tempus Fugit To be fair The Saturdays were never "performers" as such & Mollie never really did "dancing" when she was younger so think that comment is unfair ballroom dancing is completely different.

    • @tempusfugit4352
      @tempusfugit4352 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As I said in my previous comment to which you have ignored, yes ballroom dancing is something completely different to choreographed stage dancing, (cheese and chocolate), so in that aspect they are all equal as none has any ballroom experience. It's a level playing field. Also noticed you never mentioned Aston Merrygold, who I well remember wowing us with his dance moves in 2008 X Factor, where he was up against Alexandra with his band JLS. Lastly, if you look at Molly's wiki page, you will find that she lists her occupations as a singer, songwriter and DANCER. Always good to do some research before commenting me thinks. Bearing all that in mind, I think my comments were more than fair.

    • @yourbuddyash
      @yourbuddyash 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tempus Fugit very well said! Don't forget, Debbie was in the Royal Ballet Company! People really seem to be going in for Alex for her dance and performance background and forgetting about Debbie and, as you said, Aston. Just like last year when Danny Mac was the target whilst most of the public conveniently didn't focus on Louise Redknapp going to stage school and being a judge on a tv dance show (just as Aston has been too!) I personally have no problem with dance experience but it annoys me so much when the public just seem to focus on one particular contestant!

    • @tempusfugit4352
      @tempusfugit4352 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your support. People seem to have selective memories when it goes against those they support. I had indeed forgotten Debbie McGee's ballet background, that's the reason why she is so very graceful to watch. I always think it's good to remember that it's a TV programme first then a dance competition second, so there will always be a mixed bag of contestants, the ridiculous and the sublime, that's what keeps viewers watching and talking and returning to view, the whole object of SCD is to entertain to keep ratings up. So I guess on that level they are doing a good job.
