    Okay...camera three had *way* more echo than I would have liked. Please forgive the lower audio quality.

      I didn’t notice anything particularly distracting about the audio but the angle of camera 3 was slightly odd. Really interesting video though. It’s interesting to see a different design to a writing box. Would you say those hinges are durable enough? I’d be concerned about them breaking. I love the strap!

    Only issue would be the elastic wearing out far before the rest of the products. Especially for $150+, a little extra leather and even a slight price increase would have made both truly a lifetime of use.

    Fascinating and very creative products; I think they’re great. I just ordered a small pen carrying case from them and am looking forward to using it. Thanks for another detailed review.

    Question: it’s been 9 months since your review... do you find that you have use for both the box and the bag? If so- how are they different for you? Or is one more useful than the other and if so how so?

      He hasn't touched them. Most likely he sold them. Ask yourself: if he wouldn't pay for it why should you? If it wasn't good enough for him to spend his money on it why should you? Don't forget these are commercials. Nothing more. These ppl are commercial actors. People whom exchanged integrity for free product.

    Both are really cool. Good to know the box doesn’t lay flat, will wait until there’s an improved version.

      If you go to the site, they have a link to the inspiration for this, Thomas Jefferson’s writing box. Designed with the slope, as it is ergonomically superior to a flat surface. They even give you a schematic to make your own if you are so inclined. My inspiration lasts longer than my focus. Lol.

    Thanks, Dave, I like both and have yearned for the Writing Box. It's good to hear your thoughts.
    ** Caution: While I normally like magnets, I'd be leary of them in this situation. I would be tempted to carry a laptop PC in this case and, VERY stupidly, I once utterly destroyed my hard drive by getting it too close to magnets that were a bit too strong. Just be aware and just be careful. Otherwise, they are both very beautiful and utile.

    For that price, the writing box should have friction hinges that you can set in any position.

    In my experience, 'The Writer Box' does not have the issues you describe. The hinges are designed to open to roughly 92°. Forcing it further would result in the 'criticism' you offer. Perhaps you should revisit your ham-fisted technique.

    Thank you David, for an interesting overview. Not a massive fan of the Walnut box - even hand made, it should close without gaps - my Grandfather was a Master Carpenter - he'd have thrown it in the bin - & specifically, he'd have baulked at the asking price; if you're caught in a rainstorm with that, the contents within are going to be rapidly water damaged. Agreed, it has a very retro look about it, but I'm not impressed with the build quality (those hinges should fold right back); the pegs for the portable writing desk feature are simple enough - & the wood itself seems to have been wasted, here.
    In regard to the 'Medic Bag', sure, another retrospective concept, but I have seen other reviews of this particular item that concur, the carrying strap to be too thin when loaded up...but the leather does look nice - how sustainable that satchel would be (untreated), is anybody's guess.
    Not really sold on either product, here - stay safe,
    Andrew :)

    I'm curious. Are you still using this often? I've seen a few writing boxes and while I do so love wooden cases I too look at something like this and wonder if I'd use it beyond using it for storage. Years later, what are your thoughts now?

    Aloha David, good review as always. Does either accommodate an 8.5"x11" pad of paper? Just wondering. Happy holidays to you and your family!

    • @FigbootonPens
      @FigbootonPens  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the pad. A straight 8.5"x11" piece of paper fits with about half an inch to spare. A Rhodia #18 pad is too large to fit.

    Im not impressed with galen leather. I bought a wallet and added an elastic and the leather tore and elastic know pulled through hole and company would not make it right. Disappointed.

    • @kellykagoshima6963
      @kellykagoshima6963 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Eugen Lang i did. I sent pictures. The first time i closed the wallet after inserting my planner, the knot pulled through and tore the leather. They basically told me i asked for the hole. But it serves no purpose if the leather was too weak to hold it. If i had known that was an issue i wouldn't have paid the extra 12 for it. My chic sparrow cover has no problem and holds the elastic no problem. I had to add a button at the end of the the elastic which is digging into the leather to keep the knot from pulling through. They also would not publish my honest review of the product with pictures. I don't trust a company that only publishes positive reviews.

    • @kellykagoshima6963
      @kellykagoshima6963 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Eugen Lang that is no excuse not to publish an honest review of a customer

    So uh... how do I get in the business of reviewing pens? Lol! No hate, I’ll imitate. Have you tried the narwhal pen? I don’t hear a lot about them. But because of the movie Cabin in the Woods, I *need* the Merman.
