To explore Cordes is to open a wonderful art-and-history book that’s set in stone… Which is probably why Camus and other great writers fell in love with this village.
Heaven couldn't wait any longer. What happiness when his name was officially attached to that of Cordes in 1993. Their wedding dates back to the Middle Ages since the city of stones rising on a promontory had risen to the sky. Vertigo of love and beauty.
While climbing to the top of the city, we stop to visit the workshops of artists and craftsmen. For a long time painters, writers, ceramists, sculptors or jewelers have found artistic inspiration there.
Some mornings when the pink mist invaded the valley, Cordes sur Ciel deserves its name and floats above the skies. One morning very early, leave the village to admire it at daybreak, it is splendid. Sometimes in winter, the mist envelops it and isolates it from the world below. An almost mystical experience.
It's a unique place that steeps in a timeless magic. It features several rows of fortifications and a truly remarkable architectural heritage.

De grands auteurs, tels que Camus, en sont même tombés amoureux !
Le ciel ne pouvait plus attendre. Quel bonheur quand son nom fut en 1993 officiellement accolé à celui de Cordes. Leurs noces remontaient au moyen âge depuis que la cité de pierres se hissant sur un promontoire était montée jusqu’au ciel. Vertiges de l’amour et de la beauté.
Tout en montant vers le haut de la cité, on s’arrête visiter les ateliers d’artistes et artisans. Depuis longtemps peintres, écrivains, céramistes, sculpteurs ou bijoutiers y trouvent l’inspiration artistique.
Certains matins lorsque la brume rose a envahi la vallée, Cordes sur Ciel mérite bien son nom et flotte au-dessus des cieux. Un matin très tôt, sortez du village pour l’admirer au lever du jour, c’est splendide. L’hiver parfois, la brume l’enveloppe et l’isole du monde d’en bas. Un expérience, presque mystique.
La Cité est un lieu intemporel, empreint d’une magie exceptionnelle.
Elle se dote de plusieurs lignes de fortifications avec un patrimoine architectural remarquable. Ses nombreuses portes majestueuses s’ouvrent sur la destination « Cordes sur Ciel et Cités Médiévales ».

Pour arriver en haut en prenant son temps de découvrir la ville, il faut à peu près 20min . (le temps que j'ai mis pour monter)

La pente est assez raide au début. Au besoin , il y a des endroits pour faire des pauses. Mais je vous conseil de tenter l'ascension ! Le point de vue que l'on a une fois arrivé en haut en vaut vraiment le coup ! 👍
