Agree. Look at this david sanborn song played with ewi USB and Vhorns. It's the first time I heard a Vst i sounding as close as the real sax th-cam.com/video/UXHn0mvptPc/w-d-xo.html
I love this. As a long-ago sax (and flute) player, I've wanted a decent sax library for more years than i care to recount. This is the first one that I find usable. Now I just have to get my wife to stop asking me to play 'Baker Street'.
This is incredible! Only thing I can ask that hopefully could be added via an update would be to please separate growl and flutter tongue into 2 separate controls since they are really 2 different techniques. Growls sounds significantly different to flutter tongue and I think it is kind of difficult to get an ideal growl tone when it's control is linked directly with flutter tongue.
Please, do a Jazz/Klezmer clarinet. I see you use the same hybrid approach of Samplemodeling, and that is the only approach, in my opinion, that will be able to give us the clarinet we all deserve!
Sounds nice! Any plans for a bundle? Would also be nice with a combined ensemble patch with different instruments (like a pick-n-choose version as in Session Horns Pro!) And may I ask why you choose UVI Workstation over Kontakt?
We'll think about that, a big bundle is doable, but for the pick and choose, it might be complicated licensing wise... Regarding the choice of UVI vs Kontakt, it's rather simple, in Kontakt, it would not have half of the capabilities the VHorns currently have, most of the cool features come from some quite advanced scripting, which isn't possible at all in Kontakt. We actually used Kontakt a while ago, so we know both platforms quite well and the scripting in Kontakt is simply not up to par.
I like making my own samples and sticking them into the mpc.. This is incredibly realistic for that kind of sound im after. Will have to wait for a sale though as its a bit expensive for me. 😭
Wonderful library and I like how you decided to showcase the keyswitches even tho they sound really unrealistic, however these are probably the most realistic sampled sax out there and can do most stuff without fail. However, the tone is too bright for me, it’s definitely better for jazz and it’s clearly advertised as such, but as for orchestral or emotional music I don’t think we can get emotions out of these. Which is the deal breaker for me. But the whole thing is superbly done and I’ll be on the look out for more of your work, it’s incredible.
All saxes "2" have been recorded with a more "classical" sound, so less breath and more tone. Also for the keyswitches, we are in the process of improving them greatly and will have a new version very soon that will offer complete control over the falls and rises..
my main question since I use the AE - 30 pro by Roland is how to set up that wind controller with all its scenes to properly connect to the audio sampling instruments such as the saxophone so that the wind controller can take absolute control over the CC settings of the software. there seems to be an aerophone controller but I'm not sure if it changes the internal settings of the AE 30 Pro, maybe somebody could share their settings. my objective is to create a very realistic saxophone section .
You can simply use the aerophone preset from the preset list :) It doe snot change anything to your aerophone, it just selects the correct settings for the VHorns.
Great, sounds promising. I already own UVI Falcon & Workstation - though I have too many saxophone samples and models already - and haven't heard of Acoustic Samples before - though this is a combo of samples and modelling as I understand it. Question. I have the following wind/expression Midi Controllers. Is your product compatible with all? I assume so: Yamaha WX5 Yamaha BC3 TEControl USB Midi Midi Solutions Breath Controller ExpresiveE Touche
Yes, of course, all wind controllers basically just output one MIDI CC, so all you have to do is set that MIDI CC number in the main interface below the AIR knob and you're good to go. We use the TEC control ourselves. For the wx5, you might have to select one of the wind controllers from the list depending on how it handles the legatos, but it will work for sure.
I bought the V-Horn section yesterday, it sounds amazing but when I put different other three parts to make an ensemble, it only plays the sound from part 1 and I can't hear the other three instruments. What should I do to hear all 4 parts at the same time? Thanks
You probably just need to set all parts to the same MIDI channel (the same one as your track or keyboard). If you want to make sure, just select "omni" and it will play for sure.
Yes, it works. There is only the full multi octave pitch bend does not work (below the keys), but that's on purpose, it's not possible on a saxophone anyway :)
This sounds excellent. It’s mentioned that the instruments are jazz and classical based. Would these saxes work in a Motown/Soul style song or are the sounds too “gentle”? The saxes in Session Horns Pro aren’t particularly convincing and I’m hoping V-Horns Saxes may fill the gap. Thanks.
We say that one sax is better suited for jazz and the other for classical because of the amount of "air" in the sound, but both can actually work fine for all styles, including motown/soul, it's just a way of playing the saxophone where some players try to have more air or a purest tone.
This sounds amazing. Only gripe for me is the sound of the rises and falls. Some of them seem to be too abrupt from the note they start from. If there’s a control for that, maybe it could be more subtle and playable. Other than that, really very good! On my wish list
Totally. The “articulations” sound VERY fake and unnatural and synthetic, which is a shame when the actual playing in of lines is quite realistic. It’s the same with their trumpets unfortunately 😢 - If I had this, I’d have to use other libraries along side for falls/shakes/doits/trills etc. As these fake ones just have zero character to them. Such a shame they’ve (I guess?) not sampled any here, and it’s all done artificially. And in the trumpet department, we could really do with a proper controllable plunger/wah mute that you can really make sing. There’s almost nothing good out there for that intense wah/growl combo!
@@acousticsamples This is certainly on my radar. I own several of your products and appreciate how improvements are constantly being made. If that issue were to be addressed, I’d say this raises the bar, especially at this price point.
@@acousticsamples I wouldn’t suggest replacing the samples exactly. I own a virtual saxophone library using physical modeling (who’s name I won’t mention) and the falls are one of its worst features. So, unless you’re able to work a miracle, emulated articulations “could be” a step in the wrong direction. I’d recommend enhancing it by perhaps adding controls to alter the speed of the falls & rises or recording additional falls and rises at different lengths with round robins. If you were to create artificial articulations, I’d leave it as an option to choose from. Similar to some string instrument libraries that offer either real vibrato or LFO-based vibrato.
I really like this! time to start saving. It'd also be nice to get solo string variants of this type of process, I would like to use something aside from SWAM and Kontakt libraries like Stradivari and Chris Hein Violins, something very expressive and natural yet not synth like in nature. Like Stradivari, it doesn't sound all that great to me but I think this method of modeling mixed with sampling can produce something reaaally good. Only issue I see with strings is properly capturing the expressive vibrato.

Yep, we are aware of that and we fixed it already, there was a huge bug preventing the air flow from getting above 0... That'll teach us to add a feature at the last minute... Anyway we're sorry and it's all fixed, you just have to download the updated ufs files.
@@acousticsamples That's good to hear. Whenever this happens I'm always scared it's something specific to my PC, something that nobody else experiences. I've updated and it now and it works but I do notice something that's still not optimal. When I use my mouse and press a key (C#-4 for example) another key is triggered simultaneously, namely F5. For the alto and soprano that key is within the playable range which causes both notes to sound. Luckily it doesn't happen in the piano roll (I'm using FL Studio). This sounds terrific. Here's hoping you'll add the bass trombone to the brass, as well as make a nice jazz clarinet!
It might take some time, but we will do the complete horn/brass/woodwinds family :) The question is which one will be next.
This is actually the closest I've ever heard without feeling that it's synthetic. It's terrifying that it can get this close :)

Yes, well, there are automatic key noises and you can also trigger them (and the breathing) manually using notes in the low register.
