    I got a western Star with the 86 inch sleeper. I wanna do this exact same thing but need to find a water leak in the fire wall first.
    I can’t wait till it’s done. It’s bare metal inside now while I check it for water leaks before I install any wood.

      It's coming from where the cap meets the truck body (upper stack mount are under the cap, RTV a blockage on the gutter if it's a strato cab) running lights and down the a Pilar, and another leak would be getting under the windshield where the gasket seats. They have a habit of rusting away. Also check your condensor and see if the condensation drain is plugged 👍👍 happy hunting!

    • @georgegeorgepht
      @georgegeorgepht 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All American Trucker rob condenser is clear. But windshield does have rusting we’re it mounts.
      It’s a mid roof.
      U can see the truck and on my u tube. I just had a full out of frame rebuild. Now I’m going to start working on the inside. Then lastly I want to do the full paint.

    nice work driver. I did my freightliner in a Applewood floor.

  • @TheRoadhammer379

    You did a great job. I do wonder about the soft insulation under the floor, wouldn't that allow the floor to sink when stepping around in the truck.
    I ask because when I did my freightliner coronado, I used 1/4" pvc board, self tapping screws and then used adhesive to keep the planks firm.

  • @dabearsman76
    @dabearsman76 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @All American Trucker rob. That looks great. Gonna do this to my 2006 4900. What was the caulking for? And what did you do at the front of the floor where it curves up under the dash to where it meets the firewall?

    • @allamericantruckerrob9777
      @allamericantruckerrob9777  ปีที่แล้ว

    Really nice idea ! I've seen it done before but I always thought it was a vinyl wrap! I'm in the process of restoring a 97 international 9300... The floor is pretty shot. What did you use as the base for the floor? Some type of insulation ? Underneath my rubber floor is just metal but it has stampings so it's not perfectly level....

    • @allamericantruckerrob9777
      @allamericantruckerrob9777  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Just use some thin rubber insulate or sound deadening youd use to wrap a car trunk for a subwoofer anti-vibrate padding. Keep it less than 3/8 of an inch. I laid one too thick and it makes the floor separate

  • @sannajo6742

    I’m going to start this project on my truck next week. Is that vinyl with the rubber backing ? I’m going to use that rubber that they sell at harbor freight down first then this. Do you think that will work? Anything you would have done different?

    • @allamericantruckerrob9777
      @allamericantruckerrob9777  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, thats what i would do. I used a foam insert instead of rubber. My first mistake... its a floating floor so it needs something.... "not as squishy" to put it down on

    What did you put under the wood to prevent water coming into the cab ?

    • @allamericantruckerrob9777
      @allamericantruckerrob9777  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Water shouldnt be coming into the cab. Its solid through and through separated by 3 inches of honeycomb insulation. But my advice, put 1/8 rubber matt (sound deadening matt or equivelant) and dont do the recycled vinyl at 1/2 and inch or whatever. Made the floor flex entirely too much 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    • @Rollin832
      @Rollin832 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! I’m having that problem that water comes into the cab, so I was thinking about replacing the floor.

    • @allamericantruckerrob9777
      @allamericantruckerrob9777  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Rollin832 i used to have water come from the "cap" of the cab, and it follows down the side to the floor. Example, i had a bad seal on my cap by both stacks outside that would leak inside my cab from where the stacks mount to the cab where the cap of the cab meets. Just comes in and makes puddles.
