    I think the reason you’re such a fast growing channel is because you cut the bs which i really admire. You give smaller youtubers useful advice straight up and tell people the honest and genuine ways to not only grow but to focus on your content and channel in general. I loved this as usual Annie. So excited for the day you hit 100k :)

      You are probably right.
      A lot of big TH-camrs as I would say abuse the algorithm and give useless content and still get good numbers, but I guess that will change in future. Therefore, there is much pretty bad content that is just a waste of time of people who come to YT to pick up some useful information and have to watch 20 min long videos in order to hear something that can be said in less than minute.
      I agree that Annie can be put in the group of positive examples in that regard.
      Keep up the good work, Annie.👊🏻

    I currently have 20k subscribers. The sole reason I have it is because one of my vidoes got 3 million views and I didn't even try to make it go viral. Somehow it just did. Ever since then I just kept uploading whatever I wanted. Not until recently I realized what shot I had at being a youtuber. Thank you so much Anne for spilling this advice onto us. I never bothered looking at my analytics because I thought it just didn't mattered. But now I will start. I'll update soon on my growth.

    Also I think comparing someone else’s content to your own is healthy until a certain point. Use it as motivation, inspiration and as a learning experience. We might think someone else’s content is crap compared to our own, but that is very subjective, and truthfully not anyone’s decision to make. Heck even on tv there are programs that are extremely famous, but that I think it’s completely garbage. Still that doesn’t remove the merit or discredit the success and the work they put into (which are all things the viewers have no way to know). Sorry for the long rant, but it really grinds my gears whenever someone discredits someone else’s success and work because theirs are not being equally as successful. Love your input as always Annie 💕

    I do understand the frustration of not growing as fast as you would like. Sometimes I would see people who dont tag their videos, or fill out their description box with keywords, or at all, and yet TH-cam picks up the video and it blows up.. I've seen that and asked myself how? This isnt fair! But at the end of the day it just comes down to focusing on yourself, staying in your lane, and not letting comparison steal your joy. I know I'm not perfect, but I keep learning and applying what I learn to be the best I can be and do the best I can. It doesnt matter about others. As long as I'm doing better than I was yesterday and the day before that, then that's all that matters. Thanks for this video Annie❤

    For me it has been my own experience editing and talking to the camera that has improved my views! In the first videos I was all shy and my bf as well, we didn't even know what to tell to the camera and now, 6 months later, it's way easier to make a video and to edit it. I still have to get better in retaining the audience longer, but I know I'm in the right way. It's taking a little bit of time, since we have our jobs and studies and can't spend so much time on TH-cam, but we're happy! Your videos, Annie, are always very helpful and your mindset inspires us to do better!! Keep doing this content, please! You're amazing!

    Don't be discouraged when you see 70% clicking off in your analytics before the 20 second mark, but rather use it as a learning moment!

    I think on some level I knew that I have more work to do. This video actually didn’t make me feel negative at all. It’s motivation to say to yourself to do better! I struggle a lot with thumbnails and I know that I do because my analytics prove that my thumb nails need a lot of work. But I’ve been reading my analytics and was realized just while ago exactly what you said. My click through rate is only 3,4% so it isn’t TH-cam to blame not showing my content but it’s my job to make better content that 100% of people will click to my video when they see it and continue to watch it til the end.
    And now you confirmed me it is in my hands and hard work does pay off. Thank you so much, Annie 🙏

    The only problem with the advice you (and others) are providing about fixing thumbnails and where people are leaving videos is that it is really hard to do when you are just starting and don't have anyone watching your videos yet. It is great advice when you have enough analytics to comb through, but when you are just starting out and have only a few videos with very few views, those analytics just are not there. The biggest thing early on is getting videos out there and getting views, without that there is no way to figure out what you need to improve.
    Great video and I really appreciate your take on things!

    I agree analytics are a good place to see what’s working or not... I took some tips from this channel and others and applied them to my videos recently and man it was great, this last week I when from +15 subscribers in 28 days to +76 subscribers in 28 days which get great. Key to success as a small channel is watch time/retention and consistency of uploads. Take my channel for example last week I was at 444 subscribers and right now I’m at 513 subscribers which is the greatest growth I’ve ever seen on my channel that was because I uploaded a video daily and on the 3rd day TH-cam algorithm just pushed my content heavily. It’s feels good to be rewarded for your hard work, also buying ad space on other TH-cam videos is pretty good strategy to get views and new people to see you:)

    I've recently hit a brick wall with my channel. But as you said in this video not a lot of people are looking at analytics. I do understand some of my analytics but also some of it is pretty confusing to me. I think the reason why my TH-cam channel has under performed this last month especially is because I'm not doing my live streams as much due to my mental health which is a struggle to deal with alone. Sometimes I can do TH-cam tasks, sometimes I can't... which does suck! I was diagnosed with acute psychosis back in 2017 and are still struggling with it sometimes. I don't mean to sob on here lol but just saying my struggles and its really reflecting on my channel. Hopefully I can produce and turn up more on my channel in February. One other thing people need to keep in mind...niche is very important. The meta conversation on TH-cam has a huge audience because there are a billion people using YT and so many of them want to grow their channel and get paid to do what they enjoy...so someone might do everything engaging...hold attention, have killer thumbnails...but if your niche is underwater basketweaving...it won't translate into views. This is why you can have a 1-3% CTR and poor retention and another channel have 500% better metrics and get 10% of your views. Some niches just aren't getting to get many eyeballs.
    People can follow all the advice and it won't be apples to apples.
    Keep up the great work!

      Yes! And I think it's the same thing as in the early fall! People are off school and sometimes also off work in the summer break and winter break so we tend to grow much faster in these breaks and those are also the times of year you often see channels blow up. Then there's a slight slump when people go back to work/school.
      As for revenue, January is statistically the worst time of year for CPM/RPM so revenue is usually a little lower x

    So this video both made be feel a little better about my analytics and also become even more puzzled on what to do to improve. When you mentioned your average viewer duration and click through rate, I suddenly felt I was at least doing something right. My average viewer duration for my overall channel sits at around 6 minutes (which is better for some of my videos than others) and my click through rate is at 4.5%. In my head I always assumed these were poor statistically. I look at my analytics daily trying to figure out what I can do to get things to grow faster. I've accepted the limitations of what my subject matter will pull based on the top channels doing similar things, however it still feels like a never ending uphill battle. I have worked on my SEO to get my videos better ranked. I have shortened my intro to keep viewers from clicking away as quickly. I have overhauled my thumbnails to make my videos stand out more which has helped out (my old click through rate was about 1.3%). Some videos do better than others of course based on the subject matter. I'm not at a stand still but I definitely feel like things are more just slow and steady. I've experimented and had both improvements and major set backs. Maybe my expectations are too high for where I am in my timeline. I've also quit time constraining my videos because I feel like I was always rushing to keep them short which I feel hurt the content ( the viewer duration has gone up so I feel like that helped). I'm constantly trying to find ways to improve, but sometimes its hard to figure out how to appease the algorithm gods. I do want to thank you though, I feel way better at least about where my click through rate. The fact your videos get so many views and are sitting around the same percentage at least makes me feel like I am doing something right, even if my views are no where near where yours are at.

    If you get tons of views in those first 24 hours, the algorithm will recommend that video for longer. So you gotta keep your channel updated constantly to keep growing steadily. If you don't publish more videos, you don't grow. ... This will also help your current subscribers know when to expect your videos.

    • @JustDaNorm
      @JustDaNorm 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hope you can respond to this question: How long does it generally take for TH-cam to start pushing your videos out? I have multiple videos with 10-20% CTR, 50%+ View Duration, and positive likes, however it seems YT just doesn't push it out to people. Or they do, but only for a few hours then it plateau's again.. Granted I just started putting videos out 3 weeks ago, perhaps it's just a waiting game... Thanks!

    • @anniedube
      @anniedube  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It can days, weeks or months. I had a video hit the trending page on day one, where i also had three videos which on separate occasions took four or more months to blow up!

    • @StarchWithPlants
      @StarchWithPlants 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It is waiting a little. I say it’s like TH-cam is trying to decide if they trust you and see how you are doing before they recommend you to others. It took me about two months before I saw TH-cam working for me. My advice isn’t Annie’s but I have seen growth on my channel.
