    Kiln Opening #10
    Skutt 818 Kiln
    Cone 5 Program Fire
    Medium Speed
    2 Hour Preheat
    10 minute hold
    top peep open
    12 hour total firing time
I tried to put most of the additional notes for this video right on the screen, but if you have any questions please ask!
Colored Underglaze Transfers from JapanCraftsShop on Etsy
MDF Drape molds from SSCPotteryTools on Etsy, so many shapes and sizes to choose from!
Plaster Bowl Drape mold from Clayking
The one ornament I labeled Lustrous Jade might actually be Amaco Jade Celadon, still not sure about that. I made a lot more ornaments and they didn't all make it to this firing.
    Happy New Year 2024! Peace!
    Amanda

Hi Amanda. Great kiln opening! I loved your work and new glazes, they look so good on texture. I agree with you on adding texture inside of shallow bowls. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!

@@RedEftDesigns I’m partial to monsteras! They are my favorite plants. But the cedar look awesome as well, I might need to try that!👍🏻

Good work, thanks for sharing. Did you link the Canadian mold company? If so, I missed it :/

Thank you - that's great, I'm in Canada so shipping should be a bit more reasonable/no customs. As a beginner, I enjoy watching your kiln openings, I learn a lot from them. @@RedEftDesigns

Yes to the US the shipping was even more than the item itself! I like the MDF a lot...they are just as good as plaster for slabwork and way less fragile/heavy! They come in so many shapes too☮️

Thanks Michelle! I know, so long without one and then two in a week!! I have another one coming soon too, maybe another week. Do you ever film your kiln openings? I would love to see your work sometime as well 💛

Cool technique and glazing on that first plate! Looks like real cedar embeded into it :). The emeral falls and reactive red are just gorgeous on that clay! I have some of those wooden India stamps too! I love them...nice bowls. How many coats on the Rootbeer on the buffalo? I love when that result happens but I think I use too many coats and maybe it needs to be on texture? Nice mushroon jar but the Honey Bee altar is my fav! So cute! Great job! Happy New Year Amanda😊

I love the cedar plate too im thinking of making a set! I did a few coats of the rootbeer, at least 3. I know its usually SO runny forme but maybe the cone 5 kept it more tame. I previously used it on a honeycomb texture and loved it so yeah i think it needs texture to shine! Haha yeah im addicted to stamps at the moment, i tried doing other plant impressions, like a fern but they just got lost under the glaze so i think the stamps give a great, even, deep but not too deep impression that turns out well with glaze. Wooden stamps are my fav the 3d printed ones are cool but more difficult to get a clean even impression. Thanks for the compliments, happy new year!

@@RedEftDesigns great! that’s true about the cone 5 and I like the turquoise that came out at the lower temp!! I’ll remember that next time I load my kiln if using Rootbeer 😁
