You forgot to mention being on call for being an IA. That means if a serious loss happens you better be ready to get up at 2 am if the phone rings to collect the info. You also need to have a good repor with police.

Yes and no. Starting out if you get a call, you should take it. Once you get some experience, you can decline if you are committed to another firm. Just be polite and professional.

How to get work as a claims adjuster: Obtain a 4-year bachelor's degree in risk management and insurance. If you don't have any type of college degree, then you have no chance of even getting hired. But you might get a chance with IA firms (even free training), but you will have to handle your own travel expenses - hotel, food, gas, etc. If you don't own a car, then good luck renting a car for about 30 days. Edit 2/26/2023 - You can get hired also if your past jobs has any relevance to claims adjusting: sales job, police, network service helper, customer services, or any other "college" degree. If you see yourself wanting to do this in the future and you have no past job experience relevant to this field of work, then GOOD LUCK. Also, INDEPENDENT afjuster firms hire and train new people, but you have to have your own equipment, and a presentable- work friendly vehicle is preferred. I'm not saying anyone new can't get hired, but be prepared to spend some money until you get paid your first week.

Yes Anthem BCBS for example for health insurance, Delta Dental . Also there are Auto liability adjusters, General Liability adjusters, Workers Compensation adjusters. These jobs are desk adjuster jobs and you work directly for an insurance company. You can make a career as these type of adjusters as well with very good salary.

Get practical hands-on training first. This is what most insurance companies appreciate most. Check for such training at Mocat, VAS, Eberl etc. The have both free online courses and paid face-to-face courses. All the best
Just talk to your phone company. They should have some info on your lost phone or contact apple too. meanwhile, you can get an old Iphone and download all your data from iCloud and life goes on. You will also be able to deactivate and lock (brick) the lost phone.
A lot of things go into that transition. First you have to have licenses in state(s) u want to work in. If your doing CAT you have to add yourself to as many rosters as possible. Or find an IA firm hiring firld adjusters in your area. Before u do all that make sure you know how to inspect properties and do damage estimates accurately.
Save your money also to have thousands of dollars on hand, because from what I understand you will pay for your hotel and it may take a few weeks before your payment cycle starts as an IA.

You may want to apply at an insurance company and get claims handling experience (if u dont have any) and then move to being an independent adj.
