I'll be using it for my Medellin trip in 2 days. While using the Airalo Esim do you have to leave the mobile data + roaming ON the whole time? Great content btw
so this is how I do it, before I leave home I buy the esim for the country/region I want and then download it/install it on my phone. make sure it installs then I deactivate it till I Land in the new Country and turn it on. that should work for you as well
Very informative, Thank you! Normally I change my iPhone every year, but the iPhone 14 which force me to use eSIM (in USA). Now I can wait for the next iPhone. I husband and I travel to Asia when it's cold in Pennsylvania and on the way, we often stop in Europe. Also Visa run in Asian countries. Their might be communication problem with the shop that sell SIM card. Thank you again!
I really wish you showed the actual installation on Android. I watched the installation video for iPhone and it seemed unbelievably difficult and an enormous amount of steps. I'm traveling to Italy this summer for several weeks and wanted to buy the package 20 GB
what happens if I take or make a phone call from my home country (say Canada) while I'm using airalo in the US? Do I end up paying roaming fees from my main sim or does this route through the eSIM? Thanks!
The E Sims only support data, so only data connections will work. If you're making a phone call using a voiceover IP service like WhatsApp or Skype then no, no additional calls or fees will happen to your main sim card from Canada. But if you do make a landline call meeting, you pick up your dialer and you make a regular call. Yes, that will go through as an international call for you. The only provide data essims
I just got back from Mexico and Airalo worked perfectly. I used it twice in Canada last summer too, and I’ll be using it again in the UK in March. Totally recommend trying it out! Just know that after you land, it may take a bit for it to get connected properly (like maybe a half hour or so), since that happened in both Toronto and Mexico for me.
I just found out about Airalo. I just want to know what my first step is? I'm in Canada and in going to Dubai and London soon. So, is my first step to find out if my phone is unlocked and accepts 'e-sims' (I have a Samsung S22)? Please let me know... as I'm leaving next week.
The s22 does support esims and as long as you can buy it from a carrier like Rogers you should be able to install this E sim without an issue. If you bought your phone from the phone company then you need to call them and get them to give you the unlock code so that your phone becomes Sim free
@TKBay ... ok. I bought my phone from my phone provider, Telus. I'll call them now to see my next moves. Is it a physical card or just a code that I'll get from them?
So what ends up happening is you're going to need to put a different SIM card into your phone from another company and it's going to ask you for an unlock code. Now tellus may have and unlock method for their Samsung devices. I am sure they will let you know how to unlock your phone SIM
@TKBay... if I take out my regular sim... will I have a different phone number? Also, if I keep my regular sim in, I have to turn off roaming... but in your video you say to turn it on. Can you explain?
I would not recommend an ESIM for usage on the cruise ship, but I would recommend it for you whenever you get into any of the ports that you're visiting. On a cruise ship there is no specific geographic grouping so you won't be able to find an event that works like that. But every time you dock you'll be able to get a SIM card that covers you for that and then you can get as small as amount as you need or as large of an amount as you need.
I have a trip coming up in March and will be buying the Aisialink (multiple countries). If I purchase ahead of time, can I just turn off e-sim and my 30 days will begin when I turn on or will the 30 days begin at time of purchase? Thanks
Thanks for the info. I do have a question however as we typically travel overseas and when we do we disconnect from our US (home) cell phone service as we had been getting a sim card overseas with data and some voice capability. IF we go with Airalo and do NOT have a voice phone service active, can we still do WhatsApp calls as not sure how that could be done when we would not have a actual phone number to use for it. Please advise as we usually use WhatsApp when in Europe. Thank you for your help
This video does a poor job of explaining what the phone settings need to be on my phone. I used Airalo and got charged $2 by my home carrier telling me I had landed in a foreign country. I found it stressful arriving in the country and worried that I was being charged huge amounts by my home carrier because I was unsure I had my settings correct.
I was wondering this as well. It does not say this at all on the airlo app or installation directions. Thank you, I was not certain if I had to remove it.
I’ve used Airalo eSIM service in the United States and Sweden and both instances, i bought a local eSIM (meaning, only works in that country). I have an iPhone and it worked very well. No changes to APN settings or anything like that. I didn’t even enable roaming since it was a country specific eSIM. My next trip will be to multiple countries in Europe so I’m debating if i want it get a SIM for each or just a regional EuroSIM. Given how easy they are to set up, I’m leaning towards country specific.
This is amazing. I travel overseas a lot and you have no idea how much you've changed my life with this video! Thanks TK!
Very happy that you found it helpful. Thank you
He did answer. It’s not for making calls. You can whatsapp etc.
How do I turn off my home provider sim card so I don’t get charged while using the esim card ?
i'd just take it out. there's probably an easier solution though 😂
@@orsonsadler after I installed it I see there is argyle to turn the primary SIM card off.
Argyle ?
Yeah, when we can make this kind of esim management more common, I think I won't be AS cranky about losing sim trays.
I hope so
Very cool tk this will make it so easy for travelers
yea will come in handy for the next event I have to go to
I can purchase it before traveling then i can activate it onve i arrive to the mean destination?
Thanks for the video! Has anyone used this in Tokyo yet?
Do I need to take out my current physical sim card before adding the Airalo eSim to my Pixel 4a 5g?
I'll be using it for my Medellin trip in 2 days. While using the Airalo Esim do you have to leave the mobile data + roaming ON the whole time? Great content btw
hi, I've got a question: Does it mean it can be used before we travel? it will be activated before we arrive at our destination?

Can you make phone calls with this package? Great info, I would just suggest you speak a bit slower.
Thanks! Work well so far for me! 👍
Oh that is honestly pretty handy!
Glad you like it.

@@TKBay Thanks for the clarification!
Thank you , this information sounds very useful but reading customer reports on Trust Pilot made me think twice of using it.
You're welcome!

Any one use this in India?
I tried an esim in Aruba it didn't work, I installed it just fine but it says "my packages" not activated, what am I doing wrong?
Very cool app, thanks for the info. Also what’s the name of that icon pack?
on the Pixel 6a that was the stock Material You Icon Pack

Should I activate the e-sim in my home country right before I travel?
Yes
Can you make phone calls, and do u use your same cell number.
Do also Holafly esim please
This is handy
for sure, cheap and easy to use

I would do country specific as you said to make sure you get the best connection, I will be doing that in the near future for my EU trip
Airalo support is not existing. You won't get any help from them if you have any problems.
its way too complex to use much easier to buy local sim card.....I bet 90% of these purchases go unused because they offer zero support
Não funciona! Perdi meu dinheiro
Have you ever tried gaming using this app?
You talk too fast and assume we are all phone techs! We aren’t.
Slow down the video speed grandpa
