Bonjour Les Frenchies, for the moment only Android phones are compatible with the ticket gates. IPhone users can only recharge a navigo card, the phone can’t be used as a ticket on the ticket gate itself (updates from idfm to come this year) Great info explaining the different apps👏👏
Thanks. I was just going a little crazy going in circles in the app trying to figure it out on my iphone. Came to the comments to see if anyone else was having similar issues.
So glad I saw your comment! My only option on the app is to top off the card, so I’ll still need to go thru the process of buying a physical card and using the machine to buy tickets.
We came back from Paris last week and while we were there, we used the weekly pass for 30 EUR. It was worth it since we went to Disney twice and we mostly used the Metro, RER, and bus. The attendant told us that the card is valid for two years. I kept my card and will be using it again when I come back. I love Paris, such a beautiful city!
Hi! Where you able to use it to other zones? For instance zone no. 6? The hotel we are staying is near a station of zone 6. I am travelling to Paris 2-7 July, I am planning to get the weekly ticket but I am confused with the ticket as it says zones 1-5, i don’t see any ticket for zone no 6. Thank you!
@@shalomashalom2592 It's because 5 euros for the card and 30 for the weekly pass. When you buy another weekly pass it will be only 30 and not 35 anymore
It can be overwhelming the first time in a Paris metro station. This guide helped me get through the process like a pro. My wife looked dumbfounded as I effortlessly bought the tickets for the family like I was a seasoned Parisian. (It was the one Les Frenchies episode she hadn’t seen 😉)
Have watched your vlog for over a year. Just returned from a 10 day trip to Paris & want to send a big THANKS for for your fabulous tips. Had lunch at Chez Renee, used Navago Card for bus to see more of Paris. Plus all your tips made me so much more comfortable in Paris.❤❤❤
So here's a big tip that doesn't get mentioned. The paper tickets can't be put _anywhere_ near your phone. For us NYC MetroCard users, this was a stunner. I blanked our CDG-Paris tickets in less than a minute. Yes, I was able to get them replaced, but the agent was not pleased with me. We had no idea they were that sensitive!!
I wish I read this comment before I came to Paris! Just got tickted a big 50Euros after my ticket would not scan at a second checkpoint deep in the metro system 😢 Now I dont even put my used tickets near my phone also 🫠
It happened to me back in March. I just told a member of staff at the barriers that the ticket wouldn't work and they just let me though without question.
I've been following your channel and watching your videos since last December and went to France in late February (Paris, Lyon and Nice). I wouldn't say that I followed your advices in a strict manner, though it helped me a lot to be well prepared before my trip. Wished my stay in Paris lasted 2 to 3 days more, because jet lag hit me really hard after a 14 hrs flight from Chile. Keep up the good work Antoine and Colleen!. And for anyone reading, Navigo easy is your best pal in Paris.
I have to say I found you guys back in last year when I was getting ready for my trip, I’ve got so much help, so many wonderful recommendations we used, our trip is long gone but I can’t stop watching you - you’re my Saturday highlight! Thank you for bringing joy into [my] life!
I just returned from a great 2 week Paris stay. Thank you for all the suggestions, dining, walks, etc. One thing that helped during the strike was downloading the G7 taxi app on my phone. It's easy to use and has an English page. I scheduled a taxi for the trip to CDG a few days in advance. It arrived at my airbnb door 10 mins early, sent a text message when it arrived, and was a very pleasant ride. Traveller's should know that it's a prix fixe ride to and from the airport with a legit taxi company so no worries. Now i know about RATP and will use that for sure. My one error was forgetting to locate a Pablo machine to reclaim my VAT tax at the airport. I have to figure out if there's anything i can do now that i'm back in the States. Thanks Antoine and Colleen. You make traveling fun..
Nancy, I am planning to travel to Paris next spring (but am researching early!). Is there anything that I need to be aware of that you, yourself, weren't expecting? Thank you.
@@heleneg525 My first trip was last month, and I took the advice of this channel to pack my own washcloths for bathing. I can not emphasize how important that was for me bc I had no idea that was an “American”thing. les Frenchies have a video on whats important to know before you go, a much watch!
I was going to visit Paris in May so maybe it was fate that I now can't but think I'll make it in September. I'm going to Newcastle on Tyne instead! Thanks for this advice. I've got my navigo easy card but I didn't find it so easy to use the machines as in 2019. But it looks like they've simplifued them again. It's probably just me! It's good how you can use the navigo on the buses and the funicular as well. I really liked going round on the local buses with the local people getting on and off and chatting to each other. Only of course it's very slow thanks to the Paris traffic but you get to see the neighbourhoods off the main boulevards.
You two are awesome. Thanks for all you do. I bought your guide and plan to put it to good use in September. I also really appreciate how you call out the metro stops for restaurants or sights you’re highlighting. Thanks.
As someone who frequently goes to Paris and uses the metro one thing to be wary of when using your phone - you will have just put a big sign over your head for the pickpockets etc. so if you are going to use your phone watch the video about avoiding the pickpockets and be very alert! I use a navigo card but top it up with my phone before I get to the metro just as he showed.
We just came back from staying a week in a resort near Disneyland Paris. Thank you for of all your videos. We watched many of them and they made our day trips to Paris a succes. Because of this video, we bought the weekpass. It saved us a lot of stress of buying tickets.
Just came back from Paris today and wanted to thank you two from the bottom of my heart. This video (along with so many others you've done) helped me and my wife plan a truly lovely vacation we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We ended up going with the Navigo Easy, which worked well for us. We circumvented the huge line to purchase the cards at Gare de l'Est by walking to the closest Metro stop a block away - no line there and immediately got our passes and hopped on. Splurged on an Uber to get to the airport when we left, but I was blown away at how easy and plentiful the Paris public transit is. We did have one very late night when we ended up taking the Night Bus which worked out fine. Merci beaucoup again.
This video was super helpful. We are currently in Paris, and one thing that tripped us up was trying to buy a pass from one of the machines outside the Barbès-Rochechouart station (though this holds probably for any station that has these). Despite the paper tickets being discontinued, we found out the hard way that the machines outside the station only offer the packs of paper tickets. They haven’t been removed from the machines! We had to go to Gare du Nord, the closest station that we knew would be guaranteed to have an open “Services” agent available, to exchange the paper tickets for a Navigo card. And we were not the only ones in this situation, by far…the line outside the window was quite long and full of people in our exact situation. Please help spread this information so others can avoid our trouble. Thanks!
It is because the paper tickets have actually not been discontinued. They have been telling us for three years that they will be, but I'm beginning to think it will never happen. You can still use them everywhere, no need to change them !
I bought tickets in a station in Franconville and the saleswoman told me you can buy tickets until at least 2025...so Transilien seem to be creating panic in order to get people to comply. The more Transilien is digitalised the less there will be humans around to help you.
I just came back from Paris. It was my first time in the city and I was there with my mother. I was really anxious before that with metro, RER, tickets etc. You really helped me with this video. It was much easier than I thought. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the thorough explanation. We got the Navigo Easy cards for our family of 4, loaded up with 10 tickets and that was exactly what we used in our 4 day trip. Without this video, we would have been lost! Merci!
does everyone in the group need their own ticket card? We are a family of 4 (two adults and two teens). Will we need 4 cards? Or would we need just 2 cards and buy our teens tickets with our card?
This is so helpful! I haven't been to Paris in 25 years. Taking a family vacation this summer and all of this will be so useful. Gone are the days of paper maps and travel guide books. So much easier.
Please, please, please, if you have the weekly pass, don't forget to get your picture attached to the pass! Last year while in Paris, we let an attendant talk us into putting our own picture in after we got back to our room! Guess who forgot to do that? Yep, $35 fine each for both me and my wife. Wasn't a happy day, besides it took the pass checker over 20 min's to get our fine paid and on our way... boooo hoooo! Les Frenchies guide is worth every penny, thanks to you two for help with Paris...!
Bonjour Les Frenchies. Excellent video. Antoine’s explanation on using the navago card etc is by far the most informative and easy to understand that I Ive seen to day. I usually buy single tickets but during my upcoming trip to Paris this September I might use the card. That you for the information. Josef.
Merci ! J'ai beau être français et même parisien, je n'y comprends rien et depuis que je n'ai plus de Navigo c'est un enfer de voyager en petite couronne, votre vidéo m'a beaucoup aidé :)
Thanks for the video. I needed this tutorial 2 weeks ago. We struggled because machines wouldn’t accept US bank cards and we didn’t have Euros. Friends almost got scammed by guys hanging by the machines pretending to help and will try to sell you fake or expired tickets.
Your videos are incroyables!! I lived in Paris for years and I am going back with my husband who has never been to Europe at all before. I lived there pre cell phone days and so much has changed and your info is wonderfull! You are covering every topic I need and you are doing it SOoooo well! Magnifique! Je vous aime, les frenchies! On y va!
This is super helpful! We found the RAPT app useful, too. I'm no expert on Paris travel so I send everyone to your channel. This video in particular is more helpful than you can imagine. Paris travel is a common question on a travel forum I'm a part of, specifically the metro.
You both have the BEST most valuable information about daily living in France. I haven't ever been but I certainly enjoy watching your channel so much! 🎉
Antoine, I was so nervous watching you explain the apps to use to get from A to B as you were holding your phone right over a ledge!! lol Thank you for all the tips in this video, exactly what is needed for a smooth transit experience !
My husband and I just got back from our trip to France and together we watched several of your videos and I just want to say a huge THANK YOU 🙏 for all your great information. You made our navigating Paris stress free. ❤
Thank you for such an informative video! I was thinking of buying a weekly Navigo pass on this upcoming trip to Paris but I'm landing on a Weds so I'll do the 10 one-way trip pass instead! I had no idea that the weekly pass was for a calendar week! Your video brought back a memory of my first trip to Paris in 2004: I remember being so frustrated to the point of tears attempting to buy a ticket at a kiosk in a station. Finally, I had to declare, "I'm not letting this ruin my trip!!" and then everything just fell into place!
Please correct me if I am wrong, but @ 6:49: You don't need internet connection to devalue your ticket, according to the website of SNCF, you just need NFC being supported by your phone and activated. Internet connection is only required for buying tickets (which can be done in the home country).
I'm going to Paris for the first time next month! Y'all's videos have really eased my mind as far as finding my way around :) thank you for all the helpful tips!
THANKS to your videos, my two nieces and I had an awesome time in Paris during April. We spent 5 nights in Paris. We arrived at CDG on a Monday morning bought the Navigo Easy Pass (7 days Monday thru Sunday) from the ticket office. We utilized the Navigo Easy Pass from CDG to our hotel in the City of Clichy and to take the metro to all the main attractions we wanted to visit including Versailles. We listened to your recommendations to take one main attraction per day such as Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower, and to eat far from the most tourist areas. BIG THANKS AGAIN!!!
Thanks Antoine and Colleen for sharing useful and practical information on Paris transportation and purchasing tickets. We’ll be visiting Paris next month and these information will come in handy.
The best channel on TH-cam about Paris. I am brazilian and will be travelling to Paris for my second time on february, 24. I am pretty sure that my trip will so much better than the first one because the tips of you guys. Thank you very much. Hope to see you around!
The metro is fun, takes you everywhere and is infinitely cheaper and less annoying than Uber. I watched these videos before I went on my second trip and what a difference.
I have enjoyed all of your videos & have saved them to my own playlist. This is especially helpful as I like taking public transportation whenever possible (I’ve lived in NYC since the last ice age & know the MTA backwards & forwards😂). My next scheduled trip to Paris is Oct. ‘24 but if opportunity knows before then, I’ll be ready thanks to you two! Merci beaucoup!
Glad to see Paris transit has done away with the photo requirement for some of the ticket options. Not sure why they don't just drop the photo altogether? When I arrived at CDG in 2019 before the pandemic, there was over an hour wait at the single photo booth for the transit pass photo. People were buying them, me included, and many were shocked they needed a photo on top of the ticket they just purchased. The ticket agent in the booth was just pointing everyone to the one photo booth. I was kicking myself not remembering to have a photo ready for this reason and had to wait in line. Glad to know there is at least some improvement here.
Thank you for this information! It was so helpful for us on our trip to France! We used the Moblis day ticket for 5 days (myself, husband, and daughter) when we were in Paris (Mon-Fri) and my husband was diligent collecting them and putting away as soon as we when through the turnstiles. The other awesome tip you had was for the app Bonjour RATP. HUGE help getting to the sites by directing us where to walk to the necessary Metro stop to get on and off, then map directions to walk to the place we were going to. I think we used the metro at least 20 times in the 4 1/2 days were were there. Love all your helpful videos!
As an expat who lives in Paris, this is probably the question I get asked the MOST! Thank you, GREAT VIDEO. I shared this to my readers. Only comment I have, closing hours can be different on different lines. They don't always follow these schedules. Like everything else in Paris, they're suggestions 😜. I've had metros close 1/2-1 hour earlier, just because! So give yourself an allowance,. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE TRANSFERRING TRAINS. The later it gets, the riskier it gets since not as many trains run,
Good news that we may use our phone as a navigo passe. I love your Chanel! I have been preparing a trip for june and your videos answered a lot of practical questions!
We have the NAVIGO Weekly Pass it been great it pays off with just the airport cost. On our 1st trip 2019 we got them and our 2nd trip 2022 my husband just add the funds thru the app so it was ready when we arrived at Paris.
I think this is one of your BEST videos yet! Invaluable information and clearest explanations I've seen, especially with all the updates to the system. I still have my Carte d'Orange from back when 😉
I agree with you that it is really inconvenient to have those seven-day passes start only on Monday. It's been like that in Paris for the longest time, even going back to the Carte Orange, which preceded the Navigo. For this reason, I always plan my visit so that I arrive on a Saturday or Sunday, which means using the loose tickets for only a day or two. Then I am ready for my weekly pass on Monday. And because I ride so much, I find that even if I am leaving on the coming Friday, giving me only four or five days in Paris, it is well worth the price. You very quickly dismissed using the trams on the outskirts of Paris. I have absolutely LOVED riding those trams! It's been a great way to see the Paris of the locals, away from the tourists. Rarely do I see tourists on the trams, and they go through some fascinating neighborhoods!
Much appreciated! Even as someone who's been to Pairs a handful of times in before! We'll be swinging through for just one night for a trip I'm taking my cousin on and they've changed some things up since last time I visited. So this was very helpful in deciding on the best plan of action for our very quick stop in the city. Now we will be ready to go and do!
4:47 it sounds like you were saying that you can buy the Navigo easy card on your phone and bypass the counter, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. You can top up the ticket but you can’t buy it with your phone. Perhaps I misunderstood.
This would have been just what I needed before my trip to Paris earlier this spring. I was trying to figure out the various ticket types and options, without success. Thanks for making it clear! (I ended up using only single-trip tickets. Which was fine, but not the most efficient method.) I'm used to local travel cards in other cities, but every city's transit system is different.
Thank you for these videos, they are so helpful. 0:12 I’m planning to travel to France by myself, and was not feeling confident about going through Paris to Vichy. But the information from this video gives me a lot more confidence that I can do. It would love to see you do some videos from other cities in France. Merci.
Always great to listen to your videos -- this transportation video is superb. I hope things calm down soon in Paris -- please stay safe ! We are calm here in NYC at the moment! ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨🌞🌞
Great video again...my tip for over 50s like me , is before your visit do some kind of exercise to strengthen your leg muscles....because you will be going up and down a lot of stairs in the Metro and your legs will feel it
The bus system is fabulous. They go everywhere and you get to see the city too. Some metro stations have elevators or escalators. Check online to see which ones do. Be cautious about using Abbesses metro stop. Too many levels and steep steps. The elevator is sometimes not working too.
Thanks so much for the update While it’s great not to bother with paper tickets, I’m curious as to why they don’t have a pass that just allows you to add money & top up when your balance is low rather than having to select a ticket option first? Obviously longer trips will be more expensive but it just seems simpler. Anyway whatever the differences I’m still excited that I’ll be there in a few weeks. 😊
This video really helped out with our recent trip to Paris. The Bonjour RATP app is really all we needed for navigating metro and bus system. Can’t thank you enough for putting this together. Merci beaucoup!
I am loving your videos. I am an Australian about to go on my first overseas trip and have been feverishly YouTubing looking for tips and advice and your channel has been amazing. Coming from a rural remote small town of under 3000 people, we have no public transportation so it’s going to be a mind blowing experience for us and really quite intimidating. We are anxiously watching the news with the protests at the moment and hoping things settle down when we get there in 5 weeks time. We are doing all the touristy things and this video on the metro will help getting to Versailles and giverney. We also really liked the one about galleries Lafayette and are looking forward to spending some money. Thank you so much! We will also be in Rome - do you have a recommendation for a TH-cam channel that would help us there like yours does for Paris?
As an Aussie from a small town Paris can seem confusing, but it really is not. I used the apps and only had wifi. So in my accomodation I would plan the trip using wifi and take photos of each step. Then if I got confused, I had the stations and directions on my phone. The stations are easy to use. Enjoy your trip and make sure you just tray a plain baguette and butter.....and eat the croissants!!
I’m also from Sydney Australia and we are going to Paris for 5 days, this is our third trip to Paris. Have watched many of their videos and they have been very useful. Enjoy your trip.
@@bbbproductions7059 me too! I know it’s an important issue, but violence and property damage never helps, it just creates fear and hurts people that aren’t even involved. Let’s hope all sides come to an agreement. And, selfishly, before we get there lol!
@@jodiekeast6588 I am going to download the apps that les frenchies have on this post. But I see a lot of visits to the manned booths in my future lol as I truly have never used public transport before except taxis.
We watched many of your videos before our recent trip to Paris! So helpful. I believe that we would have been lost without the help of your videos. We purchased two unlimited Navigo passes for the week and they were fabulous! Smooth entry to all trains and busses and Metro! I highly recommend these! Thank you for your videos!
I would definitely go with the Navigo Weekly Pass. Even if I come to Paris after Monday (so long as I don't stay passed Sunday at 11:59pm) it would be the best deal and trust me the need for a photo is not a deal breaker. I fly into CDG from EWR and immediately get one for the RER B. Then, I'm in Paris and living life baby!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Think about it from a mathematics' perspective. If the Navigo Weekly Pass (decouverte) costs 30 Euros (putting aside any fee for the card) and you take the RER B from CDG to Gare Nord for 11.45 Euros and THEN take the Metro (in my case the Line2 to Montmartre) that costs 2.10 Euros then that's 13.55 Euros. Multiply that by 2 for the return and that's a total of 27.10 euros right there! For the entire rest of the trip to Paris you're ahead; assuming that you're going to use le Metro as much as I usually do. As we say in the US the rest is all gravy! By the way, I love your charcuterie board. Whenever I have that on Fridays everyone loves the huggy huggy kissy kissy boards :) MBC and see you in Paris this November!
Except our flight arrives on a Saturday morning 🙄. What a broken system. How hard is it for the weekly ticket to be programmed to last 7 days from day of purchase??? Looks like it’s a pack of 10 tickets for us - thanks Les Frenchies for explaining everything so well!! Merci beaucoup
@@saumyakumarbhatnagar4184 Agreed, the mathematics is undeniable. I used the weekly pass all around the city, used it to go to Versaille, Fontainbleu and to CDG. Easy life!
@@AngelSanchez-bk4qk it can be used same day to the end of Sunday (the weekly passes are valid Mon- Sun). You can top up for following week from Fri. You need to have a passport pic for weekly pass. Card has one-off charge of €5, valid for 10 years
This is the absolute best video on how to get around in Paris! Thank you for putting this together. I was very nervous about navigating the city before watching this.
One question for you: if you buy the Navigo card with the 10 rides, can you use, for example, 3 rides for a family of 3? Or should each of the 3 people have their own Navigo card with 10 rides each? Traveling with 2 adults, 1 teen for 4 days in Paris (no side trips to airport, Disney or Versailles, but will be coming into major station by train from Innsbruck and will be leaving by train to Amsterdam). Thanks for your advice!😊😊
Mon Dieu what a lot of information to digest. I am going to have to watch this again as I’m sure I missed some vital details. What is clear to me however is it’s better to arrive on a Monday to take full advantage of the card for the wider areas - Airport, Versailles etc. Good to know! Fantastic resource to have at one’s fingertips, thank you! x
I love your videos! We've been planning our trip to Paris for 9 months now and I've watch all your videos to help us prepare. We're booked to arrive there on April 26th. The current strikes and protests are concerning. Should we re-book for a later time?
They actually had a little post yesterday regarding the strikes. If you look on their page under the title “community” you’ll see some thoughts on the current situation. We too are traveling to Paris later in April and I felt better after reading what they had to say.
Having watched a few videos on paris, I vote yours the best. I'm not saying others are bad, but it is so easy to give people your personal likes instead of information we really need. Taking my wife to Paris , a surprise 60th birthday gift for 2 nights. Landing at gare du nord, didn't get your recommended hotel du Notre dame so booked hotel le compostelle. Hope its OK. And I know how to get there from the station because of your really good info... merci beaucoup.
Always enjoy your videos, thank you. We were ticketed a few years back as I accidentally threw away my paper ticket not knowing i had to keep it in case asked to present it to an agent. 50 euro lesson... How are the agents in the metro checking if you have paid your fare if you have used the card or app and not a paper ticket?
Oh wow…I was in Paris last year and I was paying per ride which I didn’t mind. I wasn’t comfortable with these 10 trip tix in case I lost it. Thank god though that I kept the single paper tickets. I was never approached thank god but at least I was prepared. I would have never known that and I would’ve been one to throw it away just like you. But you posed a very interesting question because how the hell do they know how you purchased your ticket?
Thanks so much from Australia! We will be in Paris with our kids in October, your videos have been unbelievably helpful. Really appreciate your content and efforts!❤❤
Hubby and I are headed to Paris for the first time ever in June, and we have been bingeing all of your wonderful videos. MERCI BEAUCOUP Antoine and Colleen for being so helpful and informative! We are doing a two-day side trip to the Loire Valley to stay at Relais de Chambord, and we will be doing a hot air balloon adventure (right from Colleen's bucket list! 😄 SO excited!). The hotel advised for us to just take a train from Paris to the station at Blois-Chambord, and then utilize a private driver from there to get us to Chateaux de Chambord. Would really appreciate your advice on which train, and from what station in Paris, is the best way to go (we are staying at the Marriott Opera Ambassador Hotel)?
I didn't hear how us "old" folks (>70) buy tickets but I'm sure I heard in one of your videos that "seniors" get a discount. Specifically I want to use the Bonjour app on my iPhone but don't see how to pay for a senior. Thank you! Your videos are outstanding and super helpful. Well, looking at older posts it won't work on my iPhone anyway. Arrrggghhh.
Question…how bad is it in Paris right now for tourists? I’ll be there in 2 weeks and I’m afraid of these protests. Is the Metro running right now? I hear they shut most routes down the other day?
Thank you so much for your help! My sister and I are going to Paris in May and with your video, I was able to buy my phone sim card in advance. One less thing to do when we arrive there! Thanks again!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel, very informative channel 👍 For transportation in Paris, what do you advice on days where there are protest/ strikes and where can we get information of delay in train / metro services? 🙏
Just recently had a short stay in Paris and followed your advice and got a Navigo Easy card, made using the metro a breeze. Thank you for your excellent advice.
Tried downloading both the SNCF app as well as the IDF app on my iPhone and unfortunately it looks like you can only top up your physical Navigo card. Anyone else find a way to actually purchase tickets (not top up)? It seems like purchasing only works for Samsung phones.

I have been to Paris 14 times, but I thought I would just check your video out! Oh my gosh, I learned a lot! Yes, that validating your ticket is crucial! Good tip! Thanks for the Navigo Easy tip - that is new to me! Love it! Darn Verizon for charging that $10 a day, but I am fine just getting the actual card! Merci mille fois!

Thank you guys for your videos. I’ll like to go next summer so I’ve been watching your videos and doing research to prepare. Glad to see people in my age group giving this information.
Thank you for the video. I didn't know about the Mobilis day ticket, and as we are going to do CFG->Paris-CDG in one day, it makes sense to buy it! This way we get to ride in Paris itself for free!
Hello. I don't know if it has been said here before. If you are coming into Paris with the TGV, you can buy métro tickets at the bar on the train. It proves very helpful when you get to a very busy railway station and saves you queuing on arrival.

Good morning, how i can download for the transportation in my aple store? I am planning to go to Paris the last two weeks of September. Thank you
Bonjour Les Frenchies, for the moment only Android phones are compatible with the ticket gates. IPhone users can only recharge a navigo card, the phone can’t be used as a ticket on the ticket gate itself (updates from idfm to come this year)
Great info explaining the different apps👏👏
Hello Pedro, has that changed? My husband and I have used our IPhones to scan tickets in France several times on train trips. Do you mean the metro?
@@wildflower3302 yes the metro, the Ile de France Mobilités network, so everything in Paris
Ugh, I thought that was supposed to change by this month. I thought iPhones and Apple Pay would have caught up to Android by now!
Thank you!
I paid €35 for my card... SMH. But I love Paris more than London, will be going back in September.
@@shalomashalom2592 It's because 5 euros for the card and 30 for the weekly pass. When you buy another weekly pass it will be only 30 and not 35 anymore
@@myamazingcyprus8739 Hi there! I'm not sure where the zone 6 is. We stayed at Fontenay Sous Bois, went to Disney, and Paris.
Isnt weekly pass expires on Sundays and we'll lose out if bought in mid week?
Hello Marion....what did you eat at Chez Rene? How was your experience? We have reservations for dinner next month when we go.
@@AllCambridge in January I had Pot au Feu that was the special on Thursday. Very tasty and plentiful.
Yeah to me too. Terrible...
So what does that mean? Does the magnetic field of the phone wipe off the fares you just purchased?
@@mariejacko5462 Yup. It made the tickets defective when we got to the turnstile. I had to find the ticket office and have them replaced.
Reading the comments is also informative! I appreciate everyone who shates their experiences.
This was so informative! Thanks for breaking it down and making it less intimidating to take public transportation in Paris 😊
What did you enjoy in Nice? we will be there in the spring.
@@seanmcveigh27 For me the best of Nice is the architecture, the plazas and the food.
Thank you.
Good suggestion. I was nearly caught by a dodgy taxi
Thank you. Downloading the app right now.

My first trip was last month, and I took the advice of this channel to pack my own washcloths for bathing.
Love your detailed videos full of information. What I love most is that you take the time to answer questions. You are the BEST...merci
Can I ask u pls how much was Uber? Ty
We bought the weekly unlimited Navigo pass and it was great value; I can't recommend it highly enough.
@@champion4000 I liked it because it takes the stress off traveling. Just hop on, hop off.
That wasn't necessary, they still work ! I just got my Navigo pass so I used paper ticket last week and they work as intended
THANK YOU!!
Every person needs their own card.

Internet connection is only required for buying tickets (which can be done in the home country).
that's correct 😁
You are much better informer than any french staff from the RATP!
Trés trés bonne video même pour les français qui comprennent l'anglais, même pour moi qui vit à Paris depuis très longtemps. Merci pour votre travail.
I got the orange sim card through Amazon too for my travel to Paris next month thanks to your advice :-)
Thank you 🙂
The metro is fun, takes you everywhere and is infinitely cheaper and less annoying than Uber.

Thank you for all the information you provide for us. Your videos are so well done.
I love how clearly you explained the different ways of transport in and aroung Paris, between metro, RER, Transilien, tramway, and bus !
Can you share size of the photo needed? Will prepare in advance.
The later it gets, the riskier it gets since not as many trains run,
Thanks a lot, truely important advice!
I still have my Carte d'Orange from back when 😉
I think that was the best explanation of metro tickets and routes I've heard! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
you guys are great, thanks for explaining the validation issue and for the insider tip.
Also true in Lyon @@LesFrenchiesTravel
Hi. How did you get the loose ticket ? Can you add it to your weekly or do you buy separate it?

Thanks so much for the update
While it’s great not to bother with paper tickets, I’m curious as to why they don’t have a pass that just allows you to add money & top up when your balance is low rather than having to select a ticket option first?
I'm going in five weeks as well. Hoping things resolve! 😬🙏🤞
As an Aussie from a small town Paris can seem confusing, but it really is not. I used the apps and only had wifi. So in my accomodation I would plan the trip using wifi and take photos of each step.

I had the same question. In NYC metro you can use one card for up to 4 people. Was hoping for the same.
Mon Dieu what a lot of information to digest. I am going to have to watch this again as I’m sure I missed some vital details. What is clear to me however is it’s better to arrive on a Monday to take full advantage of the card for the wider areas - Airport, Versailles etc. Good to know! Fantastic resource to have at one’s fingertips, thank you! x
Me, too. I'll give it a second watch, as well.
I love your videos! We've been planning our trip to Paris for 9 months now and I've watch all your videos to help us prepare. We're booked to arrive there on April 26th. The current strikes and protests are concerning. Should we re-book for a later time?
I'm also going around that time but hoping it'll not affect us too much 😬 🙏

We were ticketed a few years back as I accidentally threw away my paper ticket not knowing i had to keep it in case asked to present it to an agent. 50 euro lesson...
How are the agents in the metro checking if you have paid your fare if you have used the card or app and not a paper ticket?
Wow! An expensive lesson! Thanks for the warning!
These videos are AMAZING for someone traveling to Paris for the first time, thaaaank you!
I hope the passes from the SNCF app start working when we’re in Paris tomorrow. I can’t buy one in the app now but I’m hoping it’s location dependent.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel I’m her now. I don’t think it’s possible to purchase the initial Navigo on the phone initially. The only option is “Top Up.”
Hi. Any issues with using the Metro these days, during the un-rest in Paris because of the increase in retirement age?
@@LesFrenchiesTravel, very informative channel 👍
For transportation in Paris, what do you advice on days where there are protest/ strikes and where can we get information of delay in train / metro services? 🙏
Just recently had a short stay in Paris and followed your advice and got a Navigo Easy card, made using the metro a breeze. Thank you for your excellent advice.
Yay! Thanks for watching. Glad you had a good experience.
Tried downloading both the SNCF app as well as the IDF app on my iPhone and unfortunately it looks like you can only top up your physical Navigo card. Anyone else find a way to actually purchase tickets (not top up)? It seems like purchasing only works for Samsung phones.
I think it might not work to have actual Navigo Easy cards on iPhones.
Having the same problem.
You can top up a physical card with iPhone but you can’t tap your iPhone. You need a card.
Great content! I just returned from my four-day vacation in Paris. My transport navigation was easy thanks to you both :)
No people protesting on the streets in your area? France seems to be on fire these days. I fine strange that you haven't said anything about that.
On arrivera Mardi matin.
Quand je regarde les infos j'ai des doutes au niveau de sécurité. Est-ce que tu penses que ça ira bien est a-tu des conseils concernant notre voyage ?
You guys made my paris trip! I studied your videos and it got me around paris beautifully!! Thank you! I will be back!
This is excellent! I haven't been to Paris since 2000, and am planning to go there this summer. So this update is indispensable xx many thanks!
We appreciate your professional and kind videos! My daughter and I will be visiting for ten days at the end of April to celebrate her graduation in 2020... Beyond excited and above all thankful to have the opportunity. If we happen to bump in to you 😂, we'll make ourselves known. (We are the well informed Michiganders on a mission to experience!!!). "Allez! on y va!"
This is a great video and extremely practical! I have been not been back to France 🇫🇷 since 2018, going back this spring and I cannot wait!!!
Thanks for this update. I will be in Paris in a week and thanks to you both I have no worries about getting around. Hopefully the protests are calmer in a week. keep up the great videos.
Yeah…safety is the most important factor! And try a new platform to get bigger discounts🎉
Thank you for this video! I really need this information when visiting Paris this june!
Is that the Eurostar?
@@michelles8467 All fast trains coming into Paris. Eurostar is just the one from London.
Thank you for this video. Last time I was in Paris (March 2020) we were still using tickets. So much change.
Sir need last help.. can’t wait as my journey is next week.. so last minute check 😅
We'll travel with Navigo Easy pass and will follow SNCF/RATP apps to visit Versai and Disneyland for 2 days programme
Versai - M8 to invalides - 4 min walk - RER C to Versailles Chateau Rive Gauches (Versailles)
Disneyland - M8 to Opera - 4 min walk to Auber - RER A to Marne la Vallee Chessy
Q1. As the waiting time to catch RER A or RER C, can we purchase the tickets (to & fro) from Boucicaut station and inform ticket master to give tickets
From Invalides to Versailles Chateau Rive Gauches
Invalides to Marne la Vallee Chessy
Q2. If we need both to & fro i.e Return ticket, how to say to station master - that we need return tickets for Versai? or there is any other terminology we have to use to get both way tickets
Q2. M8 shows to get down at Opera and 4 min walk and catch RER A from Auber station
Here am confused - does it mean I've to Exit from Opera metro Station and then to reach Auber station to catch RER train or its the same station but for RER they've given a different name
Q3. Naigo easy pass valid for Metro 60 minutes and for Buses 90 minutes? is it correct
This video is LOADED with lots of great information. Thank you for making it!
You're welcome. There's a 2024 update coming out soon.
@@LesFrenchiesTravelAre you able to top up two separate navigo easy cards with the one app (On the one phone, course.)?
I appreciate the tips and tricks you offer. As a travel lover it is always great to see what you can do. Also not being 20 something it is helpful to observe how and where you can go and somewhat fit in. Love the links love the commentary and love your ides! Bien a vous mes amis
😊❤️👍
No wonder this video has 250k views in 4 months. Pure gold, great info!
I was wondering about this and Voila! You answered all my questions. Thanks so much. You both have valuable knowledge for us travelers. Merci beaucoup!
5:37 request? if there are two of us, do I have to use two phones with the navigo tickets loaded (roussybus and metro ticket)?? thank you so much
We were in Paris in December and we were able to get a navigo easy card from one of the machines in the George V metro station. We used the metro, RER and busses and they were all great particularly the busses. Super easy to use and get around. Thanks for your great videos, helped us immensely.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel oh that’s the question today i asked to @Les Frenchies whether same navigo easy can work on buses? Thank you
During our return journey we will go to Gare de lyon via metro - we will have 1 big luggage hope metro will allow us to travel. Please guide
