The dangers of echo chambers.
Imagine a company so rich that they think burning their money for 4 straight years is a good idea.
Large corpo execs get complacent and stop treating money like it holds real value, until their ship is halfway through an iceberg and people are screaming for women and children to be saved first. Disney is rapidly torpedoing themselves in that direction.
Any regular company would have folded 100x in just one year of Disney's financial decisionmaking, but due to boatloads of cash reserves and investor goodwill, CEO just treats it like a mild downpour when in reality it's a raging hurricane. I grew up the 80s and 90s when Disney really was THE gold standard for family entertainment. My grandmother used to buy the Disney VHS releases with their oversized boxes as they came out. I remember watching the “Aladdin” VHS tape and seeing the Lion King trailer for the first time on that tape. I was in awe. From Beauty and the Beast, thru Aladdin, and Lion King, as well as Nightmare Before Christmas and Hercules, Disney was the absolute masters of storytelling.
And now it’s over……….

It’s entertaining when idiots look at one of the most successful persons on the planet and point at their “failures”.
There’s multiple levels of shallow and then there’s you…
Elon is the dumbest billionaire. And that’s saying something.
I remember the time, when movies were actually made for fans and not for far-left activists in Hollywood. Many movies nowadays are not made for fans anymore, but for sad and bitter middle age feminists and people who hate the West for no reason. There seems to be this overwhelming need to undermine and alter the character and history of other IP's and portray people and stories that reflects the world view of rich woke elitists. This has been done many times to mess franchises up beyond recognition, rather then inventing own properties and telling their own stories. Because these people deep down hate the franchises and the people who love them. They are the real racists and haters, and they don't like anything that goes against their worldview.
Iger completely lost contact with what Disney stood for. When they turned their backs on the family and fan oriented entertainment, and focused on their 'progressive' agenda of DEI, they may as well have shuttered their entire corporation.
He probably gets a bonus check from the ESG investment firms to tank Disney by going heavy on politics. Bob Iger gets richer while the company he never cared about gets smaller.
Shuttering the corporation was the eventual result even if it wasn't intended. Disney will pull the plane out of the nose-dive, they have to. Going Chapter 11 just isn't in the cards. Not with several billion dollar theme parks, thousands of product lines and consumer outlets, and outright ownership of several TV channels, they're pretty much too big to fail completely. Now whether they can pull their products out from the garbage product category any time soon is another thing altogether. Regaining consumer trust won't happen overnight, not even with one or two terrific and scary good products, it is going to take years. In the meantime plenty of competitors have popped up to fill the huge gap as they always do. For the first time in a long time Disney has competition, and some of that competition is actual FREE products (like fan fiction). So, good luck Disney, I guess.

Psst... hack the ownership files, the files that legally state who is the owner of disney and change it to your own name.
One of the keys to good leadership is when something goes well you say 'we' and credit the team as much as possible. When something goes poorly you say 'I' and criticise only yourself.
Iger is the opposite of this. He takes all credit, and avoids all blame.
Yep. When "he" opened a new theme park in China, all he probably did was sign off on a paper that an independent team had carried out already. He's not a CEO, as he does not care about the company's well being. He's just a stand-in public figure for the board members behind him who pull the real strings.
You could easily replace Bob with Elon in this sentence. @@Real_MisterSir Elon is no better.
@@EarthmanJim No you couldn't. Just because you typed it doesn't make it a true statement lol. If you actually want to attempt that substitution, provide arguments. A statement that took no arguments to write, can comparably be cast aside with no arguments against it.
With Bob we have years of credible evidence that everything has tanked, and his actual words go directly against the supposed actions he's claiming credit for, as well as distancing himself from. Elon takes credit for his own statements, notice any time his company achieves something, he says "we" did it. Not "I" did it. He also says when failures hit, that they're his faults or miscalculations.
This comparison with Bob, you can not say about Elon. You can draw degrees of similarity, sure. But you can't make a blank statement direct comparison and pretend they're even remotely the same.
@Obi-Wan_Shinobi when is the last time Iger answered a Tweet? Elon is at least the world's richest customer service rep.
Yep, window and mirror. Look through the window when there is success. Look in the mirror when there if failure.
Disney are making “Snow White” without a love story because the prince is a “stalker”. They are making Captain America without Captain America in it. They made a Black Panther sequel WITHOUT Black Panther in it- and had it in theatres almost before the actor who portrayed that role was laid to rest. They sidelined Dr. Strange in his own sequel. Same as they sidelined Indiana Jones in his own franchise and killed that same actor off from the Star Wars franchise as well.
They are upset about Southpark making the “Panderverse” but they seem to have missed the fact that (as usual) Southpark had it exactly right in every respect. And Southpark has ratings that CRUSH anything Disney can try and boast about.
The pointless destruction of beloved characters is insane. Why buy up the “Aliens” franchise if you want to turn it into a sensitive love story about two Chilean post-op transsexuals who struggle with deafness in an intolerant world? If you want to tell that story then TELL IT. But don’t call it “Aliens” because it isn’t. And don’t try and make bank on the fans of Aliens as a pre-made fan base… when you plan to ruin everything people liked about the franchise and then call them toxic because they don’t like what you tried to feed them instead of what they ordered.
After 60 years of watching every Doctor Who episode (multiple times) from “An Unearthly Child” all the way to the 60th anniversary special I had to stop because I didn’t particularly enjoy watching the titular hero reduced to someone who stands quietly looking confused while two “women” mock him for being stupid. So stupid that he would have to change his entire gender to even begin to understand.
I am pretty sure if two white males ganged up on the main character of a female-led show and told her that she was too stupid to solve any problems (because she was a woman and ONLY if she had a penis could she begin to comprehend even simple concepts) that show would be loudly decried and boycotted and picketed and driven off the air.
You can’t even IMPLY that any gay or minority person might have made a slight mistake or actually be wrong without being labeled a hate monger. But saying “All white males are sick disgusting smelly morons without the brains of a sausage…” well that is just free speech. Can’t interfere with that.
I’m not even white technically and I am starting to feel sorry for people who are. Incidentally, that is called “empathy” for those of you who seem to lack it (or have lost it in the pursuit of pushing a message) and you might want to look into that. Trying to understand the pain of those different from you (who have different perspectives) is probably important.
I can’t really endorse mocking and deriding white men for being born a certain way and calling it tolerance and inclusivity.
Because it isn’t.

Yeah like, say what you will about Elon [and to an extent outside of this context, The Don], positive or negative, but he certainly gets results in the splash zone where media outlets have to talk about him, whether they want or not. His name will never leave their mouths, and they hate it because essentially they are addicted to this circus they erected themselves.
As someone who grew up on Disney, their downfall makes me sad. Then I think about something as simple as the firing of Gina Carano and the reason for it (from a show I admittedly never watched, but still), and the completely stupid push to include LGBT representation in their children's films and it makes me livid -- not to mention the simply lazy filmmaking and low quality. Compare any of the new films to something like the Incredibles or Monsters Inc. It's a travesty what has happened to this company. I don't show my daughter any of their new stuff. It's not out of protest. It's because I don't want her watching movies depicting confused sexuality and gender identity. And frankly, she's just bored by the new stuff. She's 4. She doesn't have a political agenda.

Nobody can fathom the warmth inside my heart as each day passes without a single whisper of a live action Treasure Planet movie.
I’m convinced Disney is over reporting these budgets to launder money.
Or pay less taxes by reporting it all as losses
Hmm wouldn’t want the FTC stripping you of Pixar and Lucas film in order to allow for acquisition would you? How can we remedy this…. Ooh how about massively overspend on what your analysts declare is to be an obvious flop, losing record amounts and tanking your share value to pretend you’re struggling and need buying out.
That sound about right?
Actually, my theory is that the woke Disney staff, colluding the DEI director and HR, are over-inflating salaries because "restitution". Most of these directors and actors casted for their skin color don't care how well the movies do because they already got (over)paid.
@@lu5445 they don't pay tax which is why Desantis got pissed for them involving themselves in politics in his state. Disney has delusions of being like the papal state and handing out decrees like the Pope.
Bob put his heart and soul into these films.. Like Milli Vanilli put their heart and soul into music.
I actually think Haunted Mansion could’ve worked, if, you know, they released the Halloween movie around Halloween and not July
And not during the time Barbenheimer blew up on media.
I watched it on Halloween cause I didn't know it existed until my mom found it. That says a lot about their marketing scheme

Elon hit the nail on the head! Disney is a dead business, and it deserves every failure it has and will have going forward.
All well and good, but if he pisses of all advertisers X will be bankrupt within months.
And it has nothing to do with X, or TH-cam, or toxic fans! I was trashing on Disney Star Wars the moment they acquired the IP!
@darrelllake5489 I agree. It's nothing new or just here and now against X. Disney has done nothing but pollute the IP, destroy the Expanded Universe, and push divisive messaging. The same goes for Bad Robot and Star Trek and all the damage done to Dr., who, and Amazon's pollution of Tolkiens lore. It's not anything new, honestly.
Elon has to know, he kills off his own companies too.
“It’s not particularly woke but its complete basis is in intersectional feminism.” Feminism is the mother of woke. Feminist were the first to start using the term woke for socialist justice horse crap. So, if a film is feminist it’s woke by default.
It was actually black people that created that term/slang but the term was taken and perverted by the the sensitive and feminist types unfortunately. Just another slang we used that's been perverted to the nth degree🤷🏾♂️
Woke means so much more than just having feminism in it. When you have to dilute the word that much it loses its meaning. You know what he means, you're just being a contrarian.
@@xipheonj Learn to read and comprehend dude. OP said if it's feminist, it's woke by default. Not if it's woke it's feminist by default. Two Very different statements. You chose to imagine the latter, while OP wrote the former.
@@DarkSun123456789 You made my point again but still don't understand it apparently. He's arguing with the statement that "it's not particularly woke" by saying it has feminism therefore it is full on woke. That's just fucking stupid.
It's like saying that you're swimming when you're ankle deep in water. It's like saying you're crippled 'cause you fractured your pinkie finger. You don't jump to most extreme description that could possibly, technically apply if you stretch it enough.
Gary was showing the contrast that the gay and gender ideologies weren't there, so it was just the girl power stuff, it was a small fraction of the woke shit.
Yes, feminism is included in wokeness, but without all the other shit it's just feminism, and even then just the girl power part of it.
@@xipheonjwoke is woke. Feminism is woke. All of it is progressive propaganda.

Great video Gary! Clear, concise, well articulated. I think you hit all the key points here.
Elon Musk needs to buy Disney and fire everyone.
Indeed 😇😇😇
👌
I had the same thought
It would be cheaper for Elon to figure out how to grab everyone's attention away from them so they can die like legacy media. Basically decentralize Hollywood.
Elon Musk wouldn't buy something so worthless.
I love Bob basically admitting they're going to keep doing what they're doing. Lol
It's hilarious
"Then we need to pander HARDER"
_____. Bob and those killer hamburger’s .
I love that a grown man like Bob Iger can't simply admit that he was wrong. Ego is a hell of a drug.
There is no redemption for Disney. They've lived in the sewer for far too long.
Dude I hope you get to a million subscribers soon. At first I used to think that you were kinda harsh and as I started listening more and more I started seeing how right you were. Now I stop everything to watch your videos.
Gary wasn't always that harsh
It’s always kind of amazing to me that people can be charmed by someone like Iger. You listen to him in this and don’t even need the articles that show what BS it is to see how slimy he is.
Elon telling Iger to f**k himself was hilarious🤣
Wasn't hilarious at all, Elon Musk is slowing losing his mind, and trying to blame someone else for his failures at Twitter.
You are not very bright
Elon is the goat
What will be hilarious is when X goes bankrupt.
@@foxmercuryearthylog120 do not redeeeeeem
I wonder how Walt Disney would feel about Bob and all the major changes to his company... Great video per usual. I hope you recorded your panel for us to see.
"Hi Bob." This is gold. Doing good isn't something you need to fake. It's just something you do. It has nothing to do with how you label it. Thank you for the great video!
It's like the "Oh, Hi Mark!"
This dude Bob Igor is a stuffed suit. He is the personification of living in the ivory tower. What has he done for Disney besides going out on a drunken spending spree purchasing established IP?
He's like that NFL owner who signs all the best players and puts them on a team with the worst coaching staff. He basically turned Disney into the Cleveland Browns...
Nah more like Boston Celtics
By 2026 there won’t be a Disney left to run.
Here’s hoping.
“The quality suffered.” No shit Bob!
Again, what the advertisers are doing to X is not blackmail, it’s extortion.
It's neither. Advertisers are free to "vote with their wallets", and they voted to tell Elon "GFY".
When you leave McD to get your burger at BK, is that extortion too? ...some people...
@@gfys756 Elon responded the same way
@@s1nnocense its more like going into McDonalds and saying if they don't go vegan you will close that restaurant
Nope, it is called leaving a failing platform with less and less people on it. Due someone called Elon Musk being even a worse manager than that Disney guy.
This channel is really growing, well done for over 900k subs. Soon be a mill 👍
Here’s a way to make Disney stock skyrocket:
1). Fire Kathleen “I Huffed My Own F**ts” Kennedy
2). Rehire George Lucas and have him Redo the last trilogy
3). Rehire Gina Carano
The new Haunted Mansion movie is very good but people are now so sick of The Message and the expectation that it’ll be front-and-centre in every presentation… which is pretty much usually the case.
This is what I keep trying to tell people. Doesn't matter if what Disney makes is good or not at this point. They've burned normal people so many times that no one trusts them anymore. Just clearly no foresight whatsoever.
"If I care about it, it's not political."
Now there's a hot take I haven't heard before…
I was on a plane. I could have watched anything Disney released in the past year, so I read a book.
Reminds me of the grandfather in The Princess Bride: "When I was your age, television was called books."
It's sad to see so many people with their eyes glued to some type of screen 24/7. Good to know there are still people in the world who not only CAN read, but DO read.
Then there's the line from the mobster's son in Young Doctors in Love: "I read a book once..."
The WEF community believed it would be a piece of cake to re-program us by using their tentacles such as disney. But it has not gone as planned. And their super villain SantaClaus Shwaaab, is pondering the next move on how to divide humanity on this grand scale movie theatre. Stay tuned, you are all part of the show.
It's actually gone remarkably well. Almost everybody I know is an NPC and loves Disney.
and also all the shit they are pulling with all these wars and trying to make people choose sides
@@gfys756you need new friends man
@@gfys756 I'm sorry to hear that. For much of its existence, The Walt Disney Company has managed to convince so many people that it's the go-to brand and the gold standard in terms of family entertainment, and despite embracing wokeness, Bob "The Knob" Iger still seems to want people to believe that. 🤨
Hell, even when I was a child, I preferred Warner Bros. and MGM cartoons for these reasons:
1. They were more badass, and not afraid to push a few boundaries here and there; and
2. They didn't preach to people or put their emotions through the wringer at every turn. 🙂
The "message" is far more important than profit when you're driven by malevolent entities.
where are the stockholders? Why aren't they throwing a sht fit over Disney losing their money?
So Igor is saying Disney executives don’t have the technology or know how to watch a digitally filmed movie’s daily rushes, or video streamed from the set. Wow ! Maybe they aren’t worth their million $ bonuses and salaries.
Bingo! Glad I'm not the only one who caught that statement from Iger. They've had the capability to watch dailies from a movie set digitally/online since the Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001) if I remember the behind the scenes documentaries. I remember Peter Jackson communicating with WETA (in New Zealand) while he was in London in one of the behind the scene clips. So, for Iger to claim the lack of supervision over the movies because of the Coof for the poor quality and performance is BS. The exec across the board at Disney & it's subsidiary studios don't deserve their pay checks.
@@Gojirastar5477 oh, yeah !! If Peter Jackson could do it back when Lord of the Rings was in production, it must be even easier now. But then Peter Jackson is an actual skilled & knowledgeable director. And a craftsman. Not an overpaid space holder/paper pusher (oops !) Disney executive.
and one more: Disney lost millions upon millions in toy sales - which is a good thing. (and actually quite beneficial for our planet...less plastic in the landfills.)
And they're about to lose more next year.
Sadly all the stuff that’s on shelves now, not sold , will end up in land fill !
You guys will be amazed when someday you discover recycling
Did you know you can scrape the scum out of the bottom of any dumpster in the entire world and it will be at least a partial, if not a complete genetic match to bob igers DNA... the only things that got diluted at disney were intelligence, creativity, and common sense.

I would never have suspected Godzilla was only $15M.
It looked as good or better than the other movies I’ve seen this year.
Another Nerdrotic on-the-road, from-the-hotel-room, million-view video. Keep up the good work brother!
Gary, my cat likes your voice. Every time I watch one of your videos he's suddenly in the room with me.
I know that this isn't what this video was about, but I just want to say that it is a damn travesty that Godzilla Minus One isn't getting the media coverage it deserves. I just saw it last night with my wife and my daughter, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since.
The good news is there's a boatloads of TH-cam videos praising Godzilla Minus One. In fact, almost every review I've seen says people need to see this movie on the big screen.
I hope it hits a billion or at least becomes a classic that makes up sales after its theatre run.
I hope you 2 are right. It definitely deserves it. I also found out, though, that it isn't even in most theaters for whatever reason. That's crazy!
Listening to Bob, for half of the video, is not easy.

Disney has conditioned their audience to believe their products will suck.
