I love how in the thrash world you can have a song like this with superior technical guitar riffs, or you can have something much simpler like For Whom The Bell Tolls which is easier to play but will always sound big and powerful and both these songs are just as cool to me. Thrash is a flexible world of talents and speeds.
When I first bought the album back in 1987 my friend thought they sucked.i was like you crazy these guys are destined for greatness.now testament is hall of fame worthy.hope they get inducted.
Whether you like Testament, New Metallica over old etc, you cannot put into words how absolutely awesome it is that all of these bands have come together to encourage and foster bands like Acrassicauda. Think about this. This is a story you will NEVER see in R&B/Rap. An Iraqi band just wanted to play thrash and they're threatened with death. They eventually flee to America where they find support from our legends and they put out a fucking BRUTAL EP..."Only The Dead...". Find this album, buy it.
testament WAS one of the best metal bands of their genre, sweet galloping guitar parts good vocals, what more could ya want in good metal? testament was ripped off by SO MANY bands
YEAAAAHHH!!!!! In the past month I've been kicked out of college because they think I'm too psychotic to be in the classroom. They made me spend a month in a fuckin' psychiatric prison subjecting me to cruel and unusual punishment... I'M SEEING EXODUS TESTAMENT AND MEGADETH TOMORROW IN ATLANTA!!!!! Metal fans everywhere.... LOVE ME BECAUSE I LOVE YOU AND I'M SO FUCKIN HAPPY RIGHT NOW TO BE FREE!!!! METALLL!!!!!!
@Erie685 That's true, going to concerts and buying T-shirts are very supportive. But he actually has to buy the ALBUMS. That's what TestAmenT specifically made for the fans.
was going to see the Testament/megadeth/slayer show in louisville KY but it was post poned, - the bastards. seen em before except megadeth. I tell ya. Slayer is by far the most powerful presence in concert I have ever seenh. people was trying to rip seats out at dayton hara arena last time I saw them. - back on their seasons in the abyss tour.
IT'S SUNDAY MAY 31, 2020 AT 10:43 am[ EST] AND I AM CRANKING THE LEGACY WHILE DEVOURING MY EGG,CHEESE, AND BACON SANDWICH WITH A NICE LARGE CUP OF COFFEE \,,;/
@scallyhunter Thanks, I think I'll have to buy it of the internet because I didn't see any Testament albums at the store near me in Germany, but I did get some Kreator though. :)
Shit! I haven't heard this one for... 16 fuckin' years!!! Yeah, 18 yrs ago my sister gave me this album - Testament were my 3rd metal band I got to know, after Metallica (the greatest, attended their gig 3 weeks ago!) and Pantera. This was my favourate song then... Ilisten to metal ever since but kind of forgot about this kick ass album!
great! now that most people have finally accepted the fact that Megadeth and Metallica is over people are trying to start a conflict with Testament and Metallica! They are all great bands people! they all have made good music! and for those who bring Metallica up in every metal video its probably cause they're new metal fans (or posers who only listen to one song and assume they're metal) who barely listened 2 em either from guitar queer-o or from the radio or a friend or etc.
@RockForce131 It isn't a single member standing out from the rest like other albums of the genre (Reign in blood, kill em all), if any of the tracks weren't there on this album it wouldn't work. Its so great because its collaborate mastery, something hard to pull off.
@ThrashTillDeath322 They cashed in when they released the Black Album. Master of Puppets is pretty much RTL 2.0. Sayin MOP was selling out is like saying Megadeth sold out when they released Rust in Peace
@Daemeon93: What about doing both? Truthfully, I download most of my music,(easier for me since I don't get paid often, good for getting into bands before rushing to buy an album, and it gives my phone music) but if I feel the band/musician has deserved the support, I'll buy their albums.
Hear the screams, screams of fright Shrieks of terror through the night Souls of old band to hold The meeting for the haunting night Headless ghosts fill the halls Shadow plays of grief and pain Phantom speaks his final note Tenants of the castle slain Black cats will appear As the witching hour nears Lost souls will all be told For a haunting we will go See their dreams come to life Under pressure holding tight Feel the cold grabbing hold To feed you to the haunting night Evil witch black as pitch Starts a fire with a flinch Burning fire rising higher Making music like a choir Stay away from the shining light Can't seem to find the answer there Bring back the terror in the night That we all share tonight Hear the screams, screams of fright Shrieks of terror through the night Souls of old band to hold The meeting for the haunting night Headless ghosts fill the halls Shadow plays of grief and pain Phantom speaks his final note Tenants of the castle slain Black cats will appear As the witching hour nears Lost souls will all be told For a haunting we will go
Could anyone help me out? I'm a big thrash fan but for some reason I have no albums from Testament. Can anyone tell me an album or two that's particularly thrashy to start me off with?
Everybody's talks about Alex and his bad ass solos and shit. But the REAL hero in Testament is Eric Peterson. Without his writing and his rhythms for Alex to go off of, I don't think Testament would have been as big. My personal fucking opinion though. \m/ TESTAMENT FOR LIFE \m/
you must be new to this band james murphy was the gutiar go to guy for a lot of bands in the 1990s and this band was one of those bands check it out low was the name of the album alex just got back on the new album.
Hey. About the lyrics. Where's the part of the children of the night that come howling at my skies? And the ruthless confidence for the Haunting now begins?
@ThisIsEndgame Still, you need to buy their albums. Besides, how did you get the T-shirt and go to concerts if you had no money income? lol. I'm 18 and have NEVER illegally downloaded a song. I now have 800 songs bought legit on iTunes.
@Daemeon93 yeah. But when you think about it, that fan is suppoting them more by going to shows and paying for merchandise. buying a song for a dollar off itunes doesnt help the band a whole lot. bands make money these days by selling merch and tickets to shows..
I love how in the thrash world you can have a song like this with superior technical guitar riffs, or you can have something much simpler like For Whom The Bell Tolls which is easier to play but will always sound big and powerful and both these songs are just as cool to me. Holds its own especially the solo.

Probably the best thrash debut, other than Kill ‘Em All..

Hear the screams, screams of fright
Shrieks of terror through the night
Souls of old band to hold
The meeting for the haunting night
Headless ghosts fill the halls
Shadow plays of grief and pain
Phantom speaks his final note
Tenants of the castle slain
Black cats will appear
As the witching hour nears
Lost souls will all be told
For a haunting we will go
See their dreams come to life
Under pressure holding tight
Feel the cold grabbing hold
To feed you to the haunting night
Evil witch black as pitch
Starts a fire with a flinch
Burning fire rising higher
Making music like a choir
Stay away from the shining light
Can't seem to find the answer there
Bring back the terror in the night
That we all share tonight
Hear the screams, screams of fright
Shrieks of terror through the night
Souls of old band to hold
The meeting for the haunting night
Headless ghosts fill the halls
Shadow plays of grief and pain
Phantom speaks his final note
Tenants of the castle slain

thrash metal at its best. spooky riffage all over the place

@TheMetalclub666 No! Testament should be in the big 4 making it a big 5
Hey. About the lyrics. Where's the part of the children of the night that come howling at my skies? And the ruthless confidence for the Haunting now begins?
in this day your lead guitarist had to be a god at playing guitar.
I was talking about the SONG, not their music in general. And yes, it DOES sound like OLD Metallica. Who died and left you the music connoisseur?
@Daemeon93 what if you're a fun who's just poor?
Pure, delightful evil!!! >:D
@bloodmerc620 Can you show me some of their best songs?...the ones I listen to only leave me unimpressed. At best.

@98DESTRUCTION i would say testament destruction slayer and exodus not hatin on megadeth or anythin i just think exodus is a bit "thrashier"
@Daemeon93 Exactly why I buy anything I enjoy.
Testament, Vio-lence, Exodus and Death Angel the Big 4 of Bay Area Thrash.
