The only reason I wanted the shortbed is cause mine is a unicorn. Try finding a crew cab short bed with the 7.4 and nv4500. It’s impossible. That being said I love longbeds. Overall though, im very pleased with how my 7.4 acts. It gets 15 mpg unloaded and my 2000 half ton 5.3 gets 12 unloaded. I used to own a Cummins and the biggest reason I liked it was the sound of a Cummins. But it was tenfold more expensive to maintain and insurance was insane. For me a heavy duty gasser was perfect. I drove a few hundred miles a day for work but the 20 mpg out of the Cummins wasn’t enough to offset the cost of maintenance. The heaviest I tow is a 10,000 lbs John Deere backhoe.

Dang 454 with the NV4500! If my trans ever goes out I may need to search for one. I did see one at an auction with a flatbed but the bids got too high for me

@@DaysofPainandVictory Not surprised they are definitely worth it! I have 3.73 gearing and I have zero complaints after having to rebuild my 4l60 twice. And after the abuse my nv4500 has faced I’ve only just now needed to replace the barrings and synchros. My buddy has a 350 with the nv4500 and his truck is a little lethargic.

I like the 95+ interiors in gmt400's but those gauge clusters seem to always have grounding issues

Thats the silver valley! I live there! 🤣🤣
I love the obs dually. Good info too, I have a 1998 k2500 crew cab short box(i wish it was a long box) I put a 1993 Cummins 12 valve in(4l80e) and was looking for info on how people feel about going over the factory load limit. I caught on about your fuel milage of 10 empty and 9 loaded. I have yet to tow anything but mixed freeway and in town im getting roughly 16.5 mpg.

Nice that’s a beautiful area! 16 mpg sounds great haha, 10 hurts. I regularly tow the trailer in this video with vehicles on it, and a couple times a year I tow a dump trailer with gravel, around 16000 lbs no problem

Your 1 ton also has a heavier duty cooling system.

Not sure, I’ll have to look it up, they were on the truck when I bought it. I need to rebuild them, they’re a little loose!
