    Finally, a true teacher has arrived!!! My professors suck! They are little more than technicians. Thank you for explaining that the tension( negative supercoil) resolves itself by "melting the DNA" upstream. This is JUST one example of Shomu's gift for explaining the essence of complicated mechanisms.

    Correction: The melting of DNA reduces twist number therefore it favors negative supercoils, BUT DnaA wraps around the DNA (RRS) in a right handed form. This introduces positive supercoils. Linking number will remain constant, twist will decrease and writhe will increase.

    all of the DNA enzymes (dnaA, dnaB, etc) DNA is lowercase and their identification letter is uppercase, it makes a difference.
