  • Hungarian Justice Minister Judit Varga enters into conversation with a.o. Europarlementarian Sophie in ‘t Veld about the state of the rule of law in Hungary and its position in the EU. Are European values debatable? And is there room for reconciliation between the Union and Budapest?
    The European Commission and the European Parliament are concerned about controversial changes made by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán (Fidesz party). Orban’s far-reaching changes in the media sector and controversial university law, make people worry about press and academic freedom. Varga enters into conversation with member of the European Parliament for the Dutch D66 party Sophie in ‘t Veld and assistant professor in history and European Studies Ferenc Laczó.

      Sure. Medieval history in Leiden. It's an EU-standard that communist historians and sociologists are debating about "rule-of-law" and legal issues with the Hungarian Minister of Justice.
      It's a self-evidence. A libtard is experienced with everything. And knows everything better, too.

      Exactly! And she and those on her side wants us to accept those "values".. she call those values :))) how funny...
      We (Hungarians) are not going obey to any orders coming from Western-Europe if we beleive those rules would hurt our nation's sovereignty 😎 Orban is someone who is in their way to fulfill their liberal goals in Hungary! We stand by Orban simply because of these blackmailing is going on against us!
      And if we have to, - if we will be continuously demonised by the EU leaders - we will vote to leave the EU just like the UK did!
      We used to live in communism where we were told what to do, how to live and what to think about everything! We don't need that again.

      @@taylorszaboattila7703 Couldn't agree more! Our nation is attacked again and again. I am a Hungarian, living in Romania because the West wanted to save our region from... I don't know what. The point that I am making is that I have never experienced linguistic freedom because of the cynical and irresponsible decisions made over our predecessors' head a century ago. And I am determined not to allow them to "save" us again. Europe has chosen self-destruction with its current socialist experiment.
      They disrespect Hungarian self-determination. We are a nation which could not be beaten by the full army of the Habsburg Empire without Russian help. We are the nation which stopped the Ottoman Empire in 1456 at Nándorfehérvár and the Church rings the bells at noon ever since. We are the nation which sparked the revolution in Romania against Ceausescu with the leadership of Tőkés László in Temesvár. We should not be afraid of some communist politicians who call themselves liberals. Let's quit this madhouse. Magyar Exit, or, in short: MaxIt.

    I am sorry to say,but Judit missed a huge opporturnity when she did not respond strongly to that wierd professor when he said that the hungarian govenrment does not apply the rule of law, but rules by law. He (the wierd professor) indicated that the laws are made somewhere else and the government better submit to it. How dare the hungarian people,whom elected this government with 2/3 majority make laws for them selfs! And he is a hunarian citizen! Am i the only one who see this insulting and disturbing,especially when he (the wierd professor) was so smug about it?

    • @LajosArpad85
      @LajosArpad85 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent point, Csaba! I would also like to point out that as a Hungarian born in Romania (because the West assumed they know better how we should leave a century ago) I have never experienced linguistic freedom. The Minority Safe Pack that received the necessary support was not even discussed by the EU. That's their idea of rule of law. We have fought for many months to make sure that we can present our case in a debate, but Brussels, violating its own laws ignored that. And it hypocritically accuses Hungary of violating the rule of law.
      The Left mixes up things. Hungary is a homogeneous country because 66% of it was amputated in 1920 leaving millions of Hungarians and their descendant in the hands of hostile countries that never respected our basic rights. Hungary does not want mass immigration, because it does not want to experience a second treaty of Trianon. Hungary is the only country that represents me and protects me from the dangers that might be lurking in Romania.
      So Hungary is not oppressing its minorities. It just does not want to allow Brussels to force Hungary into the mass suicide of European nations that happens as we speak. I know perfectly well how is it to be a "foreigner" in the land where all my predecessors lived since the 9th century. I feel a lot of responsibility towards all Hungarians, inside and outside the current borders and I will always speak up for Hungary and Hungarians, especially in such cases of obvious tyranny from the direction of the EU.
