    Hi Christi! I stumbled across your video on TH-cam and it was incredibly helpful! I took the ICF exam yesterday and found out this morning that I passed. Without a doubt, your video is a big part of the reason why I was able to pass the exam. You helped me better understand choosing the worst of the worst answers, which was essential in getting through the exam successfully. Thank you so much! ❤️

    Hi Christi. Thank you so much for your video. It is so useful and even though I could not pass the exam this time, I should be able to pass next time. Here are some notes from my experience I would like to share with you and your viewers.
    1. ICF Sample questions are so easy and simple. Actual test was so much harder.
    2. I took an exam at Pearson site. Don’t scare your students on taking an exam at site. Staff are all friendly and good environment to take. There is are clock on the PC so you can check your remaining time. Use the flag options.
    3. Bathroom is nearby. 5 min. break is long enough to visit the bathroom.
    4. If English is your send language, I suggest to use language support. I learned from below notes and questions. I think If I knew some of the verbs (my English in not bad but still some of the wordings/verbs) got me confused. I will use a language support next time.
    5. Questions weren’t so difficult to understand but some of the answers got me so confused.
    6. Don’t heavily rely on VERBS as some of the answers used all “acknowledge” “ask”
    7. I have a question. The verb “Coach saying” is the negative or coach can say “saying”?
    In the question, coachee/client are angry and emotional, answer options, advising the client to go to see another professional. Can coach easily introduce another professional? If I were the coach, I will try to find the solution by myself first. Some of the answers sounded so easy/quick to introduce anther professionals.
    8. Also, there were some answers, coach introducing another suitable coach. Is that OK to introduce? In the real situation, yes there are many variety of coaches specilizing in the areas. Can we quickly introduce another coach?
    9. Another verb tricked me was “suggesting”. “suggesting” is not a good verb for coach to use. That’s what I learned from sample questions but can I choose “coach suggesting to coachee another professional.”?? I think it is a right answer but “suggesting” verb got me confused.
    10. Last one is “consultant”. They are not therapist or dr. but can we refer “consultant” as well?

    • @christibyerly4298
      @christibyerly4298 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Super! Thanks so much for all of this information. It's so helpful for everyone coming after you.
      I'm not sure I understood all your questions, and I don't have enough information about the exact test questions you're referencing to be able to reply. However, the ICF does have a page specifically about how and when to refer to another professional, which may be a counselor, therapist, consultant, fellow coach, etc.
      For me, the underlying principle is service. We do what is best for the client at all times, with great honor, including referrals. In our ethics course at Awaken, we practice kind and clear ways of doing that.

      @@christibyerly4298 Thank you so much for your quick response. Whenn I chose the answers, I had hesitation referring other professionals so quickly so I chose try not to refer other professionals and tried to solve problems on my own. If I chose "refering other professisonals" as best answer, I could have got 1 point.
      Also, I didn't think "Consultant" was another professonal. Well, i do but i didnt chose as "referring consultant" as the best answer.
      How about Introdusing Coach to Coach? Is that OK to refer another coach?

      @@mayumihondabrenner6878 I don't have access to the exact questions you're referring to. In my opinion, "referring to another professional" could include referring to a counselor, consultant, or to another coach. I really admire your persistence in taking this exam in a second language. Wishing you all good things!

    Thank you for the review. A great question around marker 1.09 on scoring. I did some additional research and found "The exam score is calculated by the number of correct answers that you gave. Basically each question has 2 points, one for the right “best” answer and one for the right “worst” answer and you need to get 70% of the points."

    Thank you Christi. I found the exploration of the sample answers very useful! Do you have any insight into how the 600 possible marks are split between 81 questions please? As it doesn't divide equally, I'm wondering if some are weighted differently. Thank you!

    • @christibyerly4298
      @christibyerly4298 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I forget the exact math off the top of my head, but basically you get about 200 points just for showing up, so the rest of the questions are divided equally among the rest of the marks. I think it comes out at around 2.5 points per question. We also did a viedo on this channel with Corrina Gordon-Barnes about the logistics of the test.
