Natas is a fucking pioneer for the '' you can do them anywhere in the street'' stylish tricks. Just like Mullen, he revolutionized modern skateboard tricks. Both are awesome
yep. Julian got the frontboard at Everette school in S.F. We used to hit that place up all the time.. Thanks cremefresche, most the time I have to correct everyone on how things went down... nice to see someone else remembers!
Nice doc.... and I love his style even compared to now, but really they keep showing the same parts from the same vids, and then they'll throw in a little more of the part when they show it again.
There was a King Of The Road a few years back where Natas' fire hydrant spin was a trick on the list, and the video What If had a guy doin' one, but none of them were able get the kind of nice looking spin that Natas had back then. However, it's been three years since I made that comment, and Richie Jackson did some similar moves in Transworld's and now video.
I went to school at Long Beach Poly High School in late 80's and we could not wear Natas or DogTown shirts, matter of fact the vice principal at that time took my Dogtown team shirt and keepit until after school and told me not to wear it to school again.
If it was not for Natas Kaupas there would be no hand rails or big oilles or for that matter rideing up wall's.He put skateboarding on the map for Street and yes also Mark Gonzales.Mullen and Valley was later.
Markovich stopped tryin Natas spins and briefly went into hairstyling.... thankfully he kept skating...well, not thankfully to the enormous amount of companies he quit riding for.
Have to say this to everone did NATAS KAUPAS do the first Handrail or did JULIEN STRANGER I just whant the (truth)I would have to say NATAS but that is Me I do know that they both were on SMA. Thank You
Haha I was going to a very closed minded Christian school at this time.. There was a very clear ban on the evil Natas Kaupus and his corruption of the youth to align himself with the forces of the devil.. Whys he such a good skater? Answer: the devil. God those those were some horrible times to be a kid that loved punk andskating.. Hearing him talkmakes me laugh even more because ignorant people had it so damn wrong... He seems like the cleanest cut pro there was next to Hawk...
Wrong. It was about self-expression, rebellion and having a good time; it was a lifestyle. It was far from this corporate, money and fashion driven 'sport' it has become today.
it's like Dr. J vs Dwight Howard. . Howard can do all that but Dr. J had the vision and pushed it to limits never seen before. The guy 2 below needs to chill, but you should learn your history and pay homage cause you wouldn't be riding a sk8board if it wasn't for them.
Where is natas at these days did he dead ? when she is R.i.P !! When not Start skating again and show the new school what skateboarding is about !!! not money or who is the best !! its about having fun and creativiti !!!
how bout PAULO DIAZ... Rudy Johnson, Gabriel Rodriguez and Guy Mariano,DANNY WAY,COLIN MCKAY,JOHN REEVES ,kien THE DONGER lieu... they were sick.. as hell
My 1st skateboard was a Natas, the year was 1990.
This was the best moments of my life trying to skate like Natas me and my friends did...it was everything to us.
Still got a Natas deck c.1990 in the collection. This video was huge back in the day.
I remember showing this to my gf in high school while we were on a band field trip.
Needless to say, *MIND. BLOWN.*
Natas inspired me when I was a kid and he still inspires me now.
Natas, Love all the way from Panama city, Panama. Central America my friend.

I've seen some videos of other people doing the fire hydrant spin, but Natas' is still the best.
I still have my old Natas Crazed Panther board from when I was a kid.
Great Artist too! I used to love the Santa Cruz "Slimeballs" (dunno if he drew it though).

I went to school at Long Beach Poly High School in late 80's and we could not wear Natas or DogTown shirts, matter of fact the vice principal at that time took my Dogtown team shirt and keepit until after school and told me not to wear it to school again.
hahaha...i got in trouble in high school for my natas shirt. they told me to go to the principal's office and i just laughed at them and kept going...
They make it look like handrail skating was invented in 88, but it was in 86.
@puppaducka I know. I'm just saying no one has ever done it as perfectly as Natas.
Damn this makes me wanna skate!!!

All of this was ground breaking stuff at the time.
Did Natas ollie the trash can flatground, wanna know if I could do it on flat?
He was the first street skater to be able to Ollie that high.
