  • The Decoder Buddy works great with SoundTraxx decoders. In this video, George gives you a few tips on using the decoder buddy with our decoders. He uses a TSU-21PNEM8 install into a Photo 2000 GP30 for this example.

    George, This is my standard installation for anything not 21 pin ready. Decoder Buddy with TSU 2 can't be beat. It beats installing resisters on a PNP board and the detachable lighting board is great if you ever need to open the loco up again.

    Very nice installation George. I love how nice and orderly your wiring is, and how the Decoder Buddy Daughter board makes that possible. What is also nice about the various Decoder Buddy boards is that they provide places to attach Current Keepers (or similar) for use on the 21 pin boards.

    What would be cool is a Blunami 21 pin decoder. I put a standard Blunami in a P2K GP30, was quite a squeeze but I got it to fit! The decoder buddy is a fantastic motherboard that makes things easy.

      Thanks for the feedback. We do have more board formats in the works.

    Great video, George I hate to complain but I wish you had a camera of clothes on the locomotive during the whole video. Love you brother.

    Could an installation video be made for the Bachmann GP7/9’s? I know the BH-1 decoders will fit but the 28mm speaker that should be used doesn’t seem to fit in mine. I would love to see a video showing different options for speakers and their placement in the models.
    Thanks for the video and for making amazing decoders!

      We only do installs of locos that we have access to, but we are always available by phone or email to offer advice: (970)259-0690 ext.22 or support@soundtraxx.com

    presumably, the Blunami product will allow a loco to be run on its own battery power (ie no track power, and the control is wireless from phone to loco directly)?

      Yes Blunami opens the door to battery power. We do not have a Blunami 21pin decoder yet.

    So on the daughter board, I connected a LED to A3. What CV or function would control this for just on/off ?

    • @SoundtraxxDCC
      @SoundtraxxDCC  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A3 corresponds to our FX5. The Europeans have headlight and back light, then assume everything else is auxiliary. All of our light outputs are numbered sequentially, so headlight is actually FX1. Back light is FX2, then FX3-FX8 are extra lights. So their Aux1 matches to our FX3, and so on. A3 is Aux 3, and corresponds to our FX5. I hope this helps.. If you need further explanation, contact us at support@soundtraxx.com

    I assume he needed to replace the gears. It is my understanding they all have cracked gears.

    • @SoundtraxxDCC
      @SoundtraxxDCC  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not every Proto 2000 model had cracked gears. So, no I did not have to replace them in this install. Just clean them up.

      @@SoundtraxxDCC The GP30's were famous for cracked gears. The 4-axle Proto 2000 have had a very high incidence. Looks like you found one of the rare examples that didn't yet have cracked gears.

    Why dont you ever show the work close ? Cant see crap from this distsnce. Need to watch solo contracting , he can show you how to do closeups..

    Why would you not zoom in? Pretty impossible to see. Good information but you should think from the point of view of the viewer.

    • @SoundtraxxDCC

      There are close up photos added so you can see. George’s hands blocked the close up view.
