That floating chrome trim on the rear quarter window makes it look like a hearse
I was here to say that that fake landau bar makes it look like a hearse!
Now I can’t unsee it 😂😂😂😂😂
that is foreshadowing the future lack of sales
A can of black plastic coating solves the issue. Life is great when you can think beyond the end of your nose.
Honda is good at integrating hearse attributes in their designs. Look at the Odyssey since ‘11. Ulllk. Relying on a GM design is risky. Don’t like that. I love the Honda brands; however, I just don’t care for some of the decision making.
Partnering with GM just lost its long term reliability
Did you miss the part where they said it was ELECTRIC?
@@tedunguent156Nope, that doesn’t change anything for me
umm no it didn't
@@RetroFan1992 Then you don't know anything about cars. Gas or electric.
Well when it comes to Acura now they not gonna shell out more money to build/research/make their own acura cheaper to partner with someone.
Loved the original ZDX, this one? Not so much!!
We don't care
I care.. I do missed the first gen ZDX. Just didn't find the correct market... not super sporty or kid hauler... just didn't do anything amazing
I wanted to buy a 1st gen ZDX but I couldnt find one
I too like that gen. But it's too hard to justify it when the MDX is $10k cheaper
Seeing how poorly GM EVs are doing/selling, this ZDX lost me with "GM underpinnings." And I'm sure the back seat is pretty roomy when the passenger is under 5.5 feet tall.
I'D rather buy the MORE advance and affordable MADE IN CHINA EVs! the Evs we have to choose from in the US is overpriced and old tech! Give me the BYD U8! or a Seagull. Enough of the protectionism, natl security CRAP! FORD, GM, TESLA, TOYOTA, HONDA, BMW, ETC been selling our info for decades~!
This vehicle is 1 of 1, just to get into the market. Acura/Honda will be building their own platform shortly.
@geowilliams8915 You mean similarly to how Toyota used a bmw frame and motor, alongside a German automatic transmission for their latest Supra? Why would an auto manufacturer waste money on development when they can piggyback off of an already existing platform? Honda, in this case, just chose poorly.
@@daison96 To get to market in 2024 instead of in 2026. I'm not making this up. They've said as much. Remember they sold rebadged Isuzu SUV's while they developed their own line.
Hearse! Is there a chrome delete option? If not they need one stat! I wonder if the air suspension is as loud as the ICE Type S?
A can of black plastic coating????
thats the vibe! I couldn't place it. that big chrome s-bar was derived of phaetons originally drawn by horse.
maybe if you extended it a bit.. it would make a nice niche product as the first BEV hearse (not kidding)
black paint.. and extended mid just like 80s limos.
I few points - to everyone who doesn’t like Honda using a Gm platform. All the crossovers have the same silhouette and look similar so why reinvent the wheel. Plus with the downturn in ev sales the cost savings is brilliant on Hondas side. On the Gm side this is a breakthrough reversal on tech sharing. In the 80”s and 90”s Gm brand engendered every Japanese car the could get their hands on so to have it go the other direction is mind blowing.
FYI - in full disclosure I drove geo Prizm”s for longer then they made them and also learned to drive stick on a 87 nova.
Generic Motors quality is nonexistent, I wouldn’t invest my money on a vehicle produced by a company with some of the lowest quality vehicles. I EXPECT more from Honda/Acura.
Honda has done this before. They rebadged ISUZU troopers in the mid 90s when the SUV craze hit top gear.
Honda is very responsible and from the start the CRV was reliable if a little late.
The Ridgeline later turned out to be what a car guy thinks a truck should be, but that was only the first gen.
And the CUV/SUV side of that equation worked out much better.
The "Hydrogen Car" is either 20 years away or a pipe dream, but Honda wants to be in any growing market and I don't see this any different than the 90s. If you aren't into Tesla, Hyundai/Kia seems to be 2nd right now, but Nissan has 20 years of history and the E-Maxima might be a great car. The euros are just badging Chinese goods, worse than Tesla and I would avoid for a couple years.
As far as quality.. mostly I can't stand the cheap interior materials the Big 3 make stuff out of. Its neither as durable as Naga-vinyl-hide was in the 70s, nor as quality as their competition. They make a few little mistakes, but the materials are soooo cheap I'd rather have a 10-year-old car than a new one. Every rental reminds me what I'm not missing. Final note from a largely estranged car-guy.. Mazda moved away from Ford shared motor designs almost 15 years ago, and by 2013-14 was back to using their own. Making several great cars (called CUVs now lol, since everything is legally a TRUCK) for several years now.. or so I have heard. No not electric yet.
There better be a "VTEC" sound/mode. I need to hear VTEC kick in when I'm doing a few of those "spirited drives".
Good luck!
@@williammaddox3339 he's joking that was the plot of a bad movie.. teriible bosses i think it was
Why NOT, Porche Taycan is Turbo..
@@misterle7026 cool, let's make my interior sound like the ST:TNG background noise for every onboard scene. But I also want "Jungle Mode" on the outside, replete with baboons, tropical birds, and afternoon thunderstorms, so that "people know I'm there" in city traffic.
The quieter, warning noise when going under 20 km/h are (or were) a legal requirement. The "screaming engine" noise at racing speed would require thousands of watts of amplifier power externally. Internally, sure, your car speakers could be used to reproduce any noise you want to hear.
Her voice is making me sleepy 😴
Having driven an EV for 4 years, who’s going to do the OTA’s? GM or Honda? Love my EV for trips under 300 miles. No major issues in 4 years of ownership. No gas, no oil, no smog checks, no catalytic converter theft worries, very low maintenance cost. We also have a 7 year old hybrid for long trips over 300 miles. Hard to go back to ICE cars and Big Oil.
Can the ‘engine sound effects’ be shut off?
yes
that's not so bad Acura. but i still prefer the Type S of it. but Someone just needs to invent a Type R version of the Prologue.
Honda partnered with Isuzu back in the day and that didn’t work out so well. I would expect this partnership to go the same way
It worked fine as a stopgap while they developed their own line.
The Pilot is a huge success for Honda
Nobody will buy this garbage truck-anything GM has there hands on turns to trash-would you buy a car that had a stop sale on it? This is the same thing as the Blazer EV.
I have not seen a single Blazer EV anywhere on the road.
I’ve been driving Acura for 30 years and Honda even longer. It will be a cold day in H before I drive a Generic Motors automobile.
Given all the problems GM has with their electronics and EVs in general, I'm surprised Honda is betting their reputation by using anything made by GM.
The original (the gas version) was a lot better.
Yes it was really cool looking
And now the current one is just a GM knockoff, which will definitely hold it’s own with reliability 😂
Looks like a hearse.
makes sense since the only people buying Acuras are 60+
Great job MotorWeek

This car definitely looks like a winner. Anyone who’s driven an EV knows there’s no going back to gas. No comparison and being much more efficient is a bonus. Getting about 3OO miles for just $7 of electricity (or free with solar)
Many big-ticket items made from plastic, use a battery, and operate with electricity eventually have an issue that costs a lot to repair. For EVs, that road is ahead and will soon be here. Mo' Money, Mo' Money, Mo' Money!

That's why God invented chrome grilles, which you can clean w/o scratching.
The new Chevy ZDX from Acura.
People will be dying to buy one
With its GM underpinnings people will be dying in it! 😂
Too expensive for a Government Motors product
GMX... It looks like a really good name... 😂😂😂😂
These are too expensive. If you want adoption, make them affordable compared to the gasoline counterpart.
Yes. Another vanilla minivan with doors.
Not even close
@@allentoyokawa9068 That's literally what these crossovers are...
Yes, the SUV trend needs to end. Too many of your cheating wives are driving around town, while the husband is at work, in big square boats out meeting their boy toys and claiming that they need the vacant interior space for the kids.
Cmon. Call it the EDX! What a missed opportunity. I guess anything associated with ED. Is not a good look.
Apple carplay is nice, you can't get that on any of the GM versions.
NOT AN ACURA!!!!
Nah no ev for me the car looks nice though.
You know they really are absolutely doomed when they decide to rely on another company for the technology that's the future of cars lol, like wth Honda, are you guys really throwing in the towel?
no
How often will this EV chew through tires? Tire particulate pollution is not counted in EV pollution ratings, and their impact equals normal cars when factored in. Not denying the performance potential of EVs, but mass adoption doesn’t make sense.
A little more fake piped in audio does NOT make a "sporty drive"...
Why can't anyone make a good looking EV?
No thanks. I’ll keep my ICE vehicle
Me, too.
Just like you kept your flip phone🤣🤣🤣

0:48........................................Co-developed with General Mistakes, so goodbye to Honda's legendary dependability/quality/reliability!!!!
"This car definitely looks like a winner" -- No, it does not. The exterior of this car looks like a big bulky block of plastic with wheels. The rear upper looks like it was designed for use in a mortuary. The interior is good in a basic sort of way. It doesn't look "premium" or "luxury" the way that Lexus and Genesis are doing luxury. It's the Honda/Acura look that has been ongoing for the last five years. It's bland, and it's boring. This car disappoints from an Acura perspective of sporty/luxury. I'm a big fan of Honda/Acura. Acura continues to be the big brother of Honda which never seems to have all of the "extras" included. Acura is losing its way and seems to be going backward in designs. EV vehicles are just another hype job by the US government to force consumers to spend more while actually getting less. Acura it's time to reinvent your wheel when it comes to your vehicles and stop with overpriced EVs. Honda/Acura go back to making affordable quality cars.
You are clueless
Honda partnered with who!?👋🤣👉⚰️💀lmfaooo! Why??
who at Honda thought this would be great idea??? this will be a major flop

Acura as a brand should be discontinued. There isn’t any difference between Acura and Honda…all marketing hype and higher price for a different badge…
