I have mine hanging in a North West facing window and it's growing like crazy. Super easy to care for. Likes drying out and then thanks me after watering by getting even greener than before. Such a beauty, this one.
Do the leaves get wrinkly also when thirsty? Im so scared to over water this. My soil is completely dry and it has been 10 days since the last time I watered it. Mine is in a very chunky mix.
I have one and put it outside with direct sun and the leaves turn pinkish green. I fertilize it by spraying it with orchid fertilizer twice a month and it always blooms little yellow flowers.
Bernadette Lopez Mine is in soil, it’s how I received it. I treat mine like a succulent except I do mist it. If you use soil, you need a well draining mixture with perlite or pumice etc, similar to a succulent mix.
Ben Shaw okay thank you so much because the one I have is growing only in moss. Thats how I received it and I don’t know if I should repot it in an orchid mix.
Bright indirect light. They like it warm and humid with absolutely no wet feet. A little sprinkle of worm castings bi-weekly during the growing provides a little boost to get her through the year.
I have mine right on the window sil of my SW facing window in a room with 75% humidity. The leaves turn red from the direct sunlight. It’s so beautiful
I've found D.Ovata likes to be a bit pot bound. I've tried growing them in all types of potting medium but have found a 1/1 mix of chunky perlite and orchid bark to work best for mature plants. I propagate using coco coir and fine perlite 2/1 ratio. I live in Queensland Australia so my D.Ovata enjoy the climate here 🌿
Very interesting plants! Thank you for the tour. I really enjoy your videos and get a lot out of them. I've bought a few of the ones I've seen on your videos. It's nice that you don't pretend to know more than you do, but what you do know is really amazing---kind of encyclopedic. How you can remember all of those botanical names and the general information is pretty remarkable, and it's clearly not just cue cards but years of love and desire for knowledge behind that acquired information. Thank you again.

Wow thanks again Summer, I would love to find this Dischidia, it is such a pretty plant. If I ever see it or find it online to purchase I think I might give it a go. Have a great day see you tomorrow.
Mine is 2 feet from south window, bright indirect light. Turn on a grow light now for winter. I treat it like a hoya, water when dry. I only fed once this summer and they're plump & vining.
Got mine last year the things decided to go nuts... the plant I got was really small and the window its in has direct light that lasts a few hours it loves it.
i got mine in august and it’s grown precisely not at all lmao. i’m giving it good light and humidity so idk what’s up with it, but it’s still gorgeous so i’m really not mad about it
I’ve been growing my dischidia cuttings as single nodes with leaves in a mix of coco coir and perlite. For a bit of help I have been moistening the mix and watering and misting with a product called ‘seed and clone’ a hydroponics rooting solution
I have a relatively young plant, and I am nervous every time I water it.... maybe every 3 weeks.... doesn’t seem to like it and I loose a leaf every time. It also just developed a bud.... curious if it will bloom.... finicky plant, for sure 🤪
I have a plant that looks very similar to this one but I thought it was a Peperomia angulata. I am trying to figure out how to distinguish between them. Can someone elaborate on that?
Tanya Deveykin I have both of these plants and would say that there are several distinctions. Both have rigid leaves but the dischidia is a more plump, succulent leaf that doesn’t have channels or ripples where as the peperomia leaf is thinner with ridges. Also, the dischidias stems are a bit thicker, less delicate. I’m sure there are other distinguishing features such as flowers but I haven’t had mine long enough to see them bloom. Hopefully that makes sense and helps a bit.
I actually collected mine on a beach in New Guinea where it was growing on branches in full sun. It has survived about a week in transit without soil and is just getting established. It has pretty if small flowers, too.

that's a great idea for fertilisation, thanks.
Ben Shaw do you grow it in soil? they say they don’t survive the soil

Also, mines growing new leaves since I received it a month ago, so it seems to be acclimated and doing okay so far. Good luck with yours 💚🌱

Peter Cardona what is your potting mix for this?
Disagree. Mine stays moist in moss and is growing like a weed.

These are one of my favorites! Fast grower I keep mine under a grow light bc I love how it gets that blush pinky color in high light
Thank you for your wonderful, to the point demonstrations, no nonsense have a happy day, Julie South Africa
I have one growing under a led light. I let it dry out before watering. My pot is full and hanging. Easy to grow.
rmcandlelight do you grow it in soil or moss?

I am form Bangladesh, high humidity area. My plant got sun for 2-3 hours, I sprinkle them every day and it is full or leafs and trails :)
I have one, it is in medium/bright light with no direct sun, I water about once a month and it’s thriving!
Sarah Butter what potting mix do you use?

I will have to get a couple of these. I think it is an attractive and interesting plant.

Pretty foliage! They are starting to grow on me!
I just purchased one this weekend so I am excited to see what I can do with it.

Mine gets morning sunshine and has grown 8 inches in 4 months! Water when completely dry.
I remember seeing this plant in a shop, it looked fragile so I didn’t take it, but it’s beautiful
i have mine hanging fairly low 8ft from a south window and spray her with orchid feed fairly infrequently and thriving
I bought a peperomia which looks identicle to it.
The way to tell them apart was the sap. And the smell.
What to you mean? What is the difference in the sap?
I have a plant very similar and not sure of its identity.

Would you say any soil mix for succulent type peperomias would work well for this too?

? That tells you the amount of light the plant is getting.
I bought mine for $10
Oh lawd they arent supposed to look matte. This poor Dischidia
