Girl thank you so much for explaining everything so clearly!! I'm a BEGINNER beginner so everything about this video was incredibly helpful!! Thank you 💫
Who ever leaves bad comments you are wrong because she spent a long time purchasing things, spending her day in this , and editing . so if anyone does this than your wrong
This is a great tutorial! I can't wait to try. Thanks tons! I esp like the extra stitching on rim. Makes it look professional. You're adorable!!! Such a lovely voice, also. And LOL I work on the floor too!!!
Brilliant tutorial! Stayed up all night making my first-ever hat, and it turned out great. Wore it out the next day and got smiles and compliments straight off - very satisfying! I made a pattern template with baking parchment, which I'll now transfer to something a bit more sturdy for future hats. Congrats on a great job. :)
I finally made mine. Struggled a tad with the correct pattern for the brim..but figured it out before cutting any fabric. I also basted first and that helped me get the bands and brims just right. I am sure I am not the experienced seamstress you are. Because it was my first, I pinned the first fabric together first, before cutting the second fabric. Wanted to make sure it was right. Next time I think I want to try using uncut band and brim..so there is just one seam. But, my hat is cute and I am happy. I only mention the precautions I took to help, I hope, other less skilled folks like me. But, now you have a pattern which I highly recommend for beginners. I think you did a terrific job! You're patient and thorough and very professional. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.
Lesley Dyer You're so kind =] Thanks for that! I'm glad you were able to figure it out in a way best suited for you! It may help others too =] Thanks again for sharing your insight, watching & commenting!
This was the best bucket hat tutorial. All the others are way too involved and complicated. Yours was easy to follow and very understanding. Ive made 4 bucket hats since I watched your video a few days ago. THANKS!!!!!!!!
Thank you soooo much! This really means a lot to me. I'm glad my video was easy to follow & has helped you make your hats =] If you have instagram I'd love to see the hats. Tag or DM me if you want @increesemypiece
For everyone having trouble with the curved rectangle, try using a protractor. I folded an old bucket half in half & traced the brim to get my curved rectangle. Or you can cut out an "O" shape and use that for the brim instead of two curved rectangles!
I watched many tutorial before viewing yours. You did a great job. Easy to following. I made 8 hats using Disney material for our family vacation. For the reverse side I even used sports team material which went over well.
Thanks for the vid! I've been looking for a project for my year 8 textiles class for them to make. Bucket hats are really popular now so this is perfect! The pattern was really cheap as well and had nice instructions. Keep it up :D
PATTERN to make your own Reversible bucket hat is NOW AVAILABLE at this link! www.etsy.com/listing/227115583/pattern-custom-reversible-unisex-bucket?ref=listing-shop-header-0
Love love! You are very thorough with your instructions which helps a lot. Can't wait to try it out. Do you by any chance know what size pattern would be good for toddlers?
@mia, your page must be private because I'm not able to reply to you directly, If you want your brim to be thicker you can use a light weight interfacing!
First of all, I'd like to also say (as many have...) that it was a very nicely done video. I followed also the measurements written above. I was able to put the hat together but found it way too small for me and the brim not big enough.
Unfortunately there is no link to my exact pattern. I'm not sure how to get it into PDF form for others to download. I found this pattern on google tho. docs.google.com/file/d/0B94cwFO26FTtencxZ2tmd3JLQkk/edit You can use this pattern & follow my procedure it should turn out almost exact. Just keep in mind that this pattern shows the rectangle piece (theirs actually curves a bit) & the brim piece on fold. Meaning you have to fold your fabric in half & place the fabric on the fold before you cut. Basically like folding paper in half, cutting half a circle/heart/whatever shape on that fold then opening the paper up to make it whole. Hope this helps & thanks for subscribing!
Fantastic instructions! Is the hat you show in the beginning with the original measurements or the new measurements? (12x 3 and 3.5, or the wider)? Also, did you use interfacing? Thanks again for a beautifully done video. You can really see everything you're doing.
+babxo Thank you so much =] I didn't use any interfacing for this project & all of the hats in the video are made with the old measurements (the ones stated in the video)! Thanks again!!!
How do you know the measurement of what to cut? That is how do you know it will fit? Did you take your head measurement? If so How did you then transfer that to the pattern you made?
+KabiyesisPerception I used an old bucket hat that my mom had to make the pattern. It was too small at first so I just tweaked it where it needed fixing. The pattern that I used is available on careeses.com if you're interested!
Is the extra space for sewing included in the 8x8 inch for the top for example (and with the other pieces) or do I still need to add a couple of inches sewing space?
Yes, of course! It comes with step by step instructions on how to assemble the hat, as well as pattern pieces that you cut out & pin to your fabric to create your own hat!
I watched this video a few years ago and it is still the best. Thank you

Nice hat. You should cut this on a fold so you want have to stitch the pieces together and you will have less seams.
