My Uncle Peter served and unfortunately died on this ship Jan 21, 1945 during one of the two kamikaze attacks that day. Uncle Pete, Bill missed you until the day he passed. Thanks for posting this. My favorite uncle served on this ship during WWII and survived those kamikaze attacks. Tough experience for all, especially the youngest guys, like him, 19 years old.
My father was torpedo bomber pilot VT-80. He wasn't one to talk much about his service. He died in 1991 from cancer. I connected with one of his fellow pilots, Vern Higman, back in 2010. He told me things about my dad that I never knew and about his service on board and as a pilot. I wish I could tell him now how proud of him I am.
my father was aboard during kamikaze attacks and served in 5'' gun mounts , if he was still alive he would be 103 years. i remember as a youth looking through his BIG T log at all of the pictures.

Great video! My grandfather was a radioman on the Ticonderoga in WW2. He loved that ship and hated the war.
