I really prefer the binding but I find people are kind of split. If you upsize, it defiantly makes it a bit easier to make it (more space). However, I have big hands.
I have a Husqvarna Viking Iris that I still love! I had bought a new machine (Pfaff Creative Sensations) and literally had to put my Husqvarna Viking in a box and shove it to the back of a closet so I’d be forced to learn my new machine. I was intimidated by my new machine and would NOT learn to use it! So, making it harder to get to my Viking worked, I learned my new machine! However, I wanted to bring out my Husqvarna Viking so I’d have two machines to work on too! Also, like you I’ve never had my Viking serviced other than to clean it myself and its still going strong!
I hope you’re still loving your new machine but having both out, I’d space allowed is great. Keep one set up for top stitching and the other for construction. I still love my opal for appliqué and it is always my go to for that.
I now have 1/8th tape. It’s the same stuff I use and have used for years. I love it! It sticks to almost anything and I love the narrowness. It’s easy to keep out of the seams and out of the needle path so no gumming :)
Hi Thank you for this video showing the cutting part, it is very helpful. I checked your website, and the templates are not available. When will they be available for sale? Thanks again.
I am just waiting on the custom boxes to ship them in :) they are taking a lot longer than anticipated but they should be here very soon! Hoping this next week?! I have a fb Group and a business page you can follow for updates :)
Thanks for another great video! I’m so glad you used cotton binding because the other videos I’ve seen use wpc and I don’t have that 😅 Would you mind sharing what the width of your binding was? Thanks again ❤❤
I prefer “bias tape extra wide double fold binding” in the .5” size. It’s from wright brand. If you want to make it yourself to be like mine in the video (I bought mine at Joann’s) you would cut your cotton on the bias, at 2” wide and fold it long ways and make a crease down the middle. Next, fold each side into the crease so you end up with a sort of “book cover” look with each side folded into the crease. Fold it and press it, et voila! You have .5” double fold binding :) the double fold is the essential part of clean binding, and I explain why I do it that way in all my videos. You can simply “encase” the binding but I find I always miss either the front or the back so I do it my way, like the video. Good luck! :)
I did actually order just a bit of it and I’ll be trialing it at my vendor booth in august :) if it sells well, I’ll order more and have it on the website.
I watched this in it's entirity! I love everything you did and so many great ideas. I am interested in the math you two used to get the length of the gusset?? I get the length times 1.15 but how did you get the 11 7/8inch for the zipper gusset?? Hope that makes sense. Keep up the good work and I'll see you again.
That’s the math I used for both. You need to increase all pieces by 15% so they are all equally enlarged. The same thing you do for one gusset, you do for the other. And you’re only increasing the length, not the width (unless you want a gusset that is thicker than the original pattern). Hope that makes sense :)
Fyi - Walmart in GA always has Carmex. I was a lip licker as a kid and my mom made me use Carmex to keep me from licking them raw. In the 80s we never tried to figure out WHY things happen and fix root causes of issues, but rather just try to force change. 😢
Where did you purchase the Disney castle strap connector? Great video!!
Ordered the 115% templates. Already made the original size and found it a bit challenging. I’ll also use binding!

I ***LOVE*** the piping! Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks for watching!
AWESOME tutorial. Thanks for all your tips.
Glad you enjoyed! :)

I would love 1/8 tape that actually sticks

Wawak works for me
Always on the lookout for good tape.
I have it here and will be posting it on the website soon. I am just working on packaging for it :)

Yes I need a thin tape
