This one came out days after I bought the Photon S. I would have gotten this one if only for the slightly bigger build space. A tip. Don't use the Photon slicer. it sucks, and is not intuitive when it comes to adding supports, and is a pain in the ass to edit the crap supports it gives you. I use Chitubox and that's far easier. I've been printing on my photon with a .025 layer thickness and they're pretty smooth. I'm plating most of the things I make for jewelry.

I can't get the files from chitubox to work on it. I will have to look into it more. I also have the photon zero and had the same problem so I have to use the photon software.
You are right that the supports suck on the photon software 😅

Yeah, it's tricky. I edit, add supports, and size the item in Chitubox. Save it as an STL, then open it in Photon slicer, and slice it to my flash drive. So, I'm not doing supports or editing in the Photon slicer.

    Interesting video.
You can print not at an angle, but strictly vertically, so that the layers are not on the face but on the end.
In theory, this could give a better casting surface.

So the mono x, while 4k, is basically the same resolution due to it's size being 2x what the mono is. Also, the screen shouldn't have any baring on the layer lines, since the screen prints the x/y axis, and the z axis is going to create the layer lines.

Yeah sadly I found that I was wrong after I posted the video 😅

You're gotta make corrections for this. The 4k screen larger printer from anycubic does NOT have a higher resolution than the smaller 2k one. They have similar resolutions. When you increase screen size, it requires a higher resolution to maintain pixel size.
The cheapest monochrome printer right now is probably the 200 dollar phrozen sonic mini (amazon) & if you want 4k resolution that actually equals higher resolution, the phrozen sonic mini 4k is what you want. its down to around 30 to 35 microns a pixel which is nuts considering most human cells are between 5 and 10 microns.
That doesnt mean the photon mono is bad. its got a slightly higher resolution than the phrozen sonic mini if i recall & the mono x does have a larger build volume which is definitely nice for larger parts. but do just a little research.

    thanks for yor video
i have a qustion. on black resin box writed for layer height 30 to 50 micron but your print and you tell 10 micron? isnt there any problem ? and can i use 10 micron layer for my print and jewlery?how much the instrument is impoortent? i have photon mono x 6k

    • @GomeowCreations

I have found that printing at 10 microns does work with some resins but over all it's not worth it. it takes a very long time the the quality difference isn't worth it at all. For the most part I print at 50 microns with all castable resins and get little to no layer lines.

Can you print a ring? Would love to see how that will turn out.
I am considering between this and a filament printer for my jewelry casting..
    Thanks!

One last question, what computer do u use to run you software for the 3d printer? Would you have wanted to chose something different? Thanks for your time I appreciate it.

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I built my own windows pc so it's hard for me to just point to something on the market 😅. The software you use basically just makes a file that you save to a usb drive and plug that into the printer. So you don't have to hook it up to a computer to use the printer
