Rinpoche delved into the near collapse of the spear side lineage of the great Khon family after the premature death of Dharmapala Rakshita and his son. The family line of Lopon Yeshe Jungne saved the Khon family from extinction, obviously when power brokers had the foresight to shelve aside the controversy as to whether Lopon Yeshe Jungne was the son of Zangtsa Sonam Gyaltsen born to an attendant of one of his consorts. I read somewhere an interesting advice from Drogon Choegyal Phagpa to Dagchen Zangpopal, the son of Lopon Yeshe Jungne admonishing him to study well for one never knows, the turn of the head may befall on the knee. By his clairvoyance, Drogon Choegyal Phagpa saw the ending of the family line of Drogon Chagna on the male side, and the time when Zangpopal and his line would continue the Khon lineage way into the distant future.
