    What do you do when it shows "generic" but doesn't show the brand. I have a device that is truly generic so I don't have the ability to scan by brand.

    Bought a new iPhone 13 Pro, got home and 17 devices are now "generic", when prior to the new phone I was able to identify everything on our network. There's ALWAYS something with technology, and it is fatiguing at best!

    I have a question When I turn my Wi-Fi off and used my cellular data I went on the Fing app it said my phone carrier was T-Mobile but I’m using boost mobile. It also says I’m living in a different country.

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well fing is made to look at the device on your network. Your carrier is a network. But anyway, fing is useless if you are not connected to a Wi-Fi network.

    • @d7seven

      Boost is owned by T-Mobile and runs on the same network

      Hi. No need to send me 4 message in the same hour, I answer every morning.
      Howerver FING is only a monitor app, you can't block you mom's device with it.
      So whatever happen, it's not because you have use FING.

    The first device that appears is always the ISP router right? Because the router that appear doesn’t match the manufacturer and I’m here thinking that someone is stealing my internet. 😼

      Not always but in most cases yes. The manufacturer showing up on the app might not always match the exact brand of the device for various reason.

    i have a question. If I go to my girls house and i scan her wifi network and then i go home and once I’m home I go on the “scanned networks” section where it shows the networks I’ve scanned/connected to. Can I still be able to check who connects to HER wifi? I’d appreciate an answer from someone that knows about this. Thank you

    What if you don't know the generic device , what if it's not one of your devices

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it's still a device on your network. If there is a device on my network that I can't really identify, I would change my Wi-Fi SSID and PW to kick it out... Maybe it's a spy, maybe it's just a device you didn't think of. By disconecting it, maybe you will realise what it is.

      @@HowToPM My roommate has a VPN for work, but her Galaxy phone showed up within a second, along with all others, on the ISP page - but took 10 to 15 minutes to show up on that app. I am fairly sure I can still see both her laptop and PC on the ISP page even if she uses her VPN for work. I just wouldn't be able to see what she is viewing if I was a hacker...and, i am not a hacker.
