wow!! i am a Revenue Manager, and this was super useful ! , besides gets the concepto and then could improve with some Data Science tools. Concept is the same.
Glad it was useful, and you're absolutely right, this just scratches the surface of what can be done, and the Excel-based format restricts it somewhat (with the upside of being a little bit more accessible to newer audiences)
7 years late, but incredible job. I wonder how you would alter this Excel file for the real world where there are significantly more than 3 customers. I guess you could add hundreds of rows or just aggregate at the segment level.
*if* we were still determined to do this in Excel [no reason that we have to aside from comfort / familiarity] we would: (1) use a different Excel Add-In for Optimization (lots of superior & more efficient tools out there for optimization but not free!) (2) as you suggested [nice!], cluster / segment customers first by their partsworths, then just optimize assuming all people belong to one of the segment profiles (this would generally result in similar managerial insights in most applications)
Hey Jenessa, I do have one up for "Designing and Implementing Conjoint SPSS" you can view, it gets you ready to go for this video. You are right though, I made this video FIRST (my student were struggling immensely with this step), so this video was sort of floating off on its own for a while!
love it...teachers like you Dr. baker make the student show up to class and set them up for success :)
Thank you DrBaker! I really enjoyed your lecture! It was very clear and easy to understand! Thank you for your time!
