Good for you mate. Looking after your bike is the key . The cheap Chinese bikes get abused terribly by most people and then the claim they are not reliable . Treated well they are fine . I hope you are enjoying your 125 as much as you enjoyed this one .
Wow you have such wonderful clear roads. Over here in the UK they are all choked with traffic all the time .
Good luck and best wishes from the UK

I appreciate your vlog since you actually use your scooter as your only transportation and not just for fun it provides a unique perspective. Hopefully next year at this time you'll be doing a similarly positive 1 year review on your 150!

Three Chinese, two as daily commuters summer/winter without a single problem with their Gy6 engines the word spreed around and people wanted to buy mine to their kids so off they went.My last one the third is for joy riding and it runs just as fine.
Braking in, taking care, maintenance, adjustments, that is it!

I can personally say I’ve owned 4 “Chinese scooters over the years and haven’t had many issues other than maybe a couple bucks worth of parts and valve adjustments. Nothing major and I’m about to grab another within the next few days

Hi from Sunny Ceredigion Wales. Only just found your site today when you popped up a random video on TH-cam. I have a couple of Vespa ET4 125 I am buying back tomorrow as a fixer upper and a GTS 250 which has the engine about to go to be welded in a bit. My only go to scooter is a GY6 50cc which I put a 70cc kit on for dirt cheap. Got the scooter in the scrap yard for £30 with V5 (title) stripped it down of broken bit's and now all legal on the road. It amazes me people don't do them up and just junk them. Parts are cheap too. I shall post a few pics of it on your Facebook page when I find it. Thanks M.M

Loved the video, I'm happy that you've had a wonderful experience with your scooter and that your scooter has a great owner. Too many people abuse these things and then talk crap about them.

As a scooter driver i can't but approve! Scooters are so criminally underrated; they're cheap, efficient, technologicaly simple enough to do maintenance yourself, they are a real asset to anyone looking to save some cash in these troubling times. and they will STILL get you where you need to be, be it on or off road. and a 50cc will handle 2 people plus a load. not fast, but it'll do it.
I own a Kymco Filly 50cc, which is the original model of what you're driving. bought it for like 200€ to be able to commute to my work through middle of nowhere to work in a warehouse starting at like 4am so ofc no public transport and was too far to cycle every day.
I owned cars before but filing them up was always traumatic! with scooter, i've for first time experienced that i simply dont care, it just spends so little it's laughable! i do about 150km or 90miles on 10€ or 11dollars, and thats with european prices, and they are double the US. in any case, whole week of commuting cost me about 10€, which is 1 hour of minimal wage jobs. LAUGHABLE! i think using scooters is a way around this dreadful price hike, or at least one way to spend less.
Plus as you get into scooters a bit, you will get some social capital; knowledge of mechanics, knowledge of people who repair them, where to buy parts, etc. i get cheap parts from junkyard, like 35€ for a whole front fork. RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP.
Also, a 4 stroke scooter is generally a very reliable machine. it's also practical, i can buy a lot and still have plenty of space to fit it; under the seat, in my backpack, where the legs are (6-pack of 2l cola for example fits no problems, or another large shopping bag) and then also in glove box you can shove bottles and such. no shortage of space for such a small vehicle! and i dont even have a separate helmet box built in.
btw i use it all year round, rain snow and all. in rain i have a cheap set of rain pants and coat, which when folded fit in the glove box or inside the helmet. i also go for joy rides, it's awesome!
during winter i fashined a set of all round leg protectors from cartboard, taped over with duct tape. didnt look fancy but was warm af and didnt influence the ride quality.
Anyways scooters are warmly recommended for anyone without cash to blow

I really enjoyed reading your comment I totally agreed with everything you said ...👍 yeah my friend your right about one hour of work pays for a weeks worth of gas easily , i remember when i first got my 50cc i kept track on how much money went towards gas and how many kilometers did I get out of a whole year worth of riding it as an everyday only vehicle....? The total came out to $100.00 us dollars and 9,243 kilometers I wish these scooters read in miles but it's really ok I guess I can always google kilometers into miles if I really wanted to be precise...lol i liked your invention you said you crafted leg warmers out of cardboard and tape for those harsh cold wintery rides ...👍good job I bet that worked out great way better then riding without any protection because it gets cold riding during winters . I give you much props for riding during snowy days ,here where I live it doesn't get cold enough to snow the coldest for us is lik 32 ° well friend thanks for watching and chatting have a good night or day which ever time of day it might be for you ok ...😁👍

@@GY6-SCOOTERS Thanks friend! I will in near future be joining your FB to spread good news and ideas, incl the cartboard add-on (almost never on fb, no time).
i can sort of see we are in a similar situation, neither has cash to burn. so from that perspective it just makes a scooter an even sweeter vehicle.
what a 100$ per year? wow thats nothing!! my be it was like 40€ per month but still worth, it was 1.5 weeks of work for driving around whole year.
oh for sure! one winter driving witout protection and you are looking at serious knee pain! bicycles have no such problems but scooters do. hm, I think i will really need to post how i constructed the leg protector. i tried the leg blankets but they were no good; too expensive, too heavy, and you cant really move your legs, and thats a disaster for handling. but this thing is sweet. will be posting it!
and i also wanna add that scooters we have are a result of decades-long development process. they are an aged technology and damn good at doing what they're meant to do.

On the date you posted this video, it was 117 in Phoenix, AZ. To hot for me to ride a scooter. Actually at my age and in my condition it is too hot to ride a scooter or even drive a car with no A/C about 6 months out of the year. Also the traffic in my area makes riding a 50cc scooter pretty much suicide. Most of the main streets are 45 mph, and everybody goes 60 mph or over. And they will run right over you. I have been rear ended in cars twice here in the past 5 years.
About 6 years ago, I was riding a 2009 Yamaha Zuma 125 scooter. It was fine in town, a little cramped for me, I'm 6' 240, but it wouldn't handle the 65 mph roads between towns. It also wouldn't climb the mountains up north. I found a like new 2006 Vespa GT200 on Craigslist with only 1800 miles on it. It was in showroom condition, and included a brand new never used rear color matched trunk and windshield. I also got a battery tender and a nice jacket that actually fit me in the deal, all for $2200. I bought it on the spot. I sold the Zuma 125, and spent the money putting new tires and a new belt on the Vespa. because it had sat for so long, I also wound up having to replace a leaky water pump and a vacuum petcock. In fixed everything up perfect for under $3000. I still have it. it has been taken care of, it still looks and runs like new, and now has over 14,000 miles on it. It has a top speed of around 75 mph, and I ride it on the freeway in the right lane. It will also take me up into the mountains where it is about 40 degrees cooler than the Phoenix valley in the summer. On a forum I belong too, I was told that it is not uncommon for these scooters to last past 80,000 miles if cared for and not abused. I named it "Rocket" because that's what It feels like compared to other scooters I've had. I have a handicapped plate on it, and I see people looking at me funny when I park in a handicapped space, probably because it is a 2 wheeler. But unlike a motorcycle, it is a step through, so I don't have to lift my leg over the seat. Belts on this scooter last 12,000 miles. Rear tire lasts about 6,000, front tire lasts about twice that long. It is liquid cooled, and I change the oil, rear drive fluid, and coolant every 3000 miles (the book says every 6000)

How do you change the gear oil? My seller told me the manufacturer told them that the engine oil also lubricates the gear on mine since the internal space of the engine is connected, and I have an X-PRO 2023 Baodiao BD50QT-9A.

Your scooter will have a motor oil dipstick by the cooling fan that is for motor oil only it will use 70% -75% of a quart of oil be sure not to over fill it .
Your gear oil is gonna be on the opposite side of your scooter where the cvt cover is towards the rear back tire watch this video for details ok buddy 🙂👇
