In the end it felt like it just wanted us to leap to conclusions. We played the space cowboys version and in comparing with the original, the original seemed much more fair and reasonable with some solid clues to back up the conclusion.
If you are interested in game design I'd say play the 90's version and then come watch this playthrough of SpaceCowboys version. I think the designers tried to fix what they perceived as logic holes in the 90s version, but it seems like they ended up under cluing and overcomplicating things a bit.

My group have done 20/40 of the official Sherlock cases and this was our least satisfying experience. Almost impossible for our group to deduce.
