From experience with bad internet, a surprisingly large amount of game logic is managed entirely client-side, with no verification from the server. Aggro I believe is such one. The ghost is where your client thinks your coplayer is, so if your client is the host, then it would make sense that enemies would aggro the ghost. Have you tried this with the guest as the cameraman, and the host as the ghost ?
You are correct on that. If you noticed with playing with internet connection, you would find that health, position, quest logic and world quest related barriers are managed server side. Which is why you can bypass the Inazuma thunder barrier, or basically why the internet trick works very well. In fact, there are a lot of other game parameters managed server side.
the same thing happens with jean's, sucrose's and faruzan's elemental skills, being able to toss and yeet other characters, while in reality the other players dont see anything happening. i believe abilities like that are also solely client side

ive had that happen at least twice, once with where my coplayer saw it happen and once where it happened to me. ive also seen my coplayer's second character standing next to their first character in 2P co-op.
i've also seen situations where i saw my coop teammate last position before teleporting not getting deleted, meanwhile already fact checked they are in control with the character after teleporting, which also confirmed by his Player Position in map, and bam you end up with a faceless ayato moment kekl. if i had to guess what will happen if my coop teammate came back to my position, the ghost character will try to pathfind a way to get back to the real position

The ghost player character wasn't even in the team anymore and stayed there until I put the character in the team and switched to it. I have a picture of it on imgur but can't link it (rbiH3c1). In the picture you can see two players with my name even though it's a 2 player co-op. Here's how it happened: I teleported to the statue and quickly switched my party (from Ayaka to Hu Tao). My sister had teleported to the statue at the same time, but it took her longer to load so she was still in the loading screen when I changed my party. And when she got out of the loading screen the ghost Ayaka was there.
There is place in Aaru's Shut where a character can plunge infinitely, and it leads to really weird shit in co-op. For example, on my screen Yae was plunging in place in that spot, while for my teammate, Yae had glitched into the crack, and was running in place with the effects from her plunge still anchored to her character.
Got really weird when we tried it with Raiden during the burst, because on my screen, Raiden was running inside the crack just like Yae did, but her sword was stuck in her hand as she was doing it.
oooh, for a while now I've thought they should add the ability to warp directly to your friends in coop, which, combined with this, could allow for some MAJOR out of bounds exploration lol

This can and often does cause some either annoying or interesting stuff. During the boat event from this lantern rite it disconnected just as I ended the event game which did a lot of interesting stuff: - Boat and obstacles disappeared but I was still in the middle of the ocean between liyue and inazuma as a character - Instead of hp bar I had the green hearts from the event, healing or taking dmg wouldn't affect them in any way, I still had my regular HP bar but it wasn't visible. (I even tried using the waverider repair gadget but the game wouldn't let me) - Burst and jump button disappeared as well, probably because the rest of the buttons are changed into something else when you enter the boat and the jump/burst ones aren't present. (I was on mobile, idk what it'd do on PC) - Nothing has any health bars visible tho they still had actual HP and I could damage/kill enemies normally with NA/E - Couldn't teleport anywhere including domains - Enemies still aggro on me - I couldn't heal using the gadget but doing it from eq was fine - I could interact with NPCs - Couldn't change my team comp - Switching to a teammate or dying *wouldn't* remove that bug - The only way to go back to normal state I found was restarting the game Since then I couldn't recreate it manually so I haven't tested anything more than that.
this is another desync thing, if you or the other player are lagging (high ping) then use any anemo attack that has a force to it (jean skill, sucrose skill/burst, kazuha skill...) it will launch other players
Neat! I've messed around with that and Jean's skill before, and once even had it register as KO'ing the other player. Never found out how to make the KO consistent, though, and all other times it was just a visual thing on my screen.
