Thank you, Roger. There were lots of people out to see her, so a bit of a juggle trying not to get too many people in the way. Filming through the fence at York was a bit of a challenge too! 😊 Hilary
Its a pity the media haven't given any coverage of the retirement of this great train like they do the Flying Scotsman. Thank goodness for people like you and TH-cam great video.
guys unreal video well done train at such speed .glad the man pull chld back .shot of all time first one for me So good so fast..that train put into fav..video..
MrSpaceman1111 glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I was relieved that guy pulled the child back too. Although, they were behind the yellow line, little children need to be so much further back than an adult. I used to be scared of speeding trains that passed right next to the platform when I was little. 😊 Hilary
Well done Hils nice video of the queen of steam, whoever takes over her mantle has a very hard job to live up to.that kid was mighty close and should never had been there what was the parent thinking about.Keep up the good work
Thank you, Robert. She’s somehow got character as well as style. I guess Sir Nigel will have to fill her place in people’s hearts, but it won’t be quite the same. Glad you enjoyed it 😊 Hilary
Thank you 😊. One camera is more a back up/for experimental shots, but I’m not ruthless when it comes to editing, so I often end up using them both! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I think the guy at the beginning is actually holding a camera rather than covering his ears 🤔 The small child with him does seem to be trying to block out the sound though. 😊 Hilary
Difficult for a child with sensory issues that mean the slightest loud noise sets them off into meltdown. Took my son with some ear defenders. It meant he could experience the magic but still be safe and calm
It was a sad but dignified end to an illustrious career for this magnificent Gresley masterpiece.I shall truly lament her passing in to retirement. she deserves it at 83 years of age.It was as though we were witnessing her last few breaths, with the black cloth hanging from her cladding.Goodbye old girl,we shall miss you.
That’s lovely, William, and you are spot on. It was rather emotional seeing her at the end. I do feel for her crew and all those who have kept her in mainline condition. It’s the end of an era for them too. 😢 Hilary
At the end it says, "Thank you for watching.". Believe me, it was my pleasure. What equipment were you using? That was certainly some lens at Harpenden.
Looks more like the gaskets at the front of the valve chests (where the outer two valve spindles come back out the chests to drive Gresley's conjugated valve gear for the middle cylinder) were leaking to me, with the steam then billowing around the void ahead of the cylinders where the valences used to be making it less obvious where the steam was coming from.
No!!!! Definitely not scrap. Her owner wanted to put her in his museum in Scotland, but currently doesn’t have permission to build a large shed for her and the other loco he owns. We will have to wait and see what happens.
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 He has plenty of sheds large enough on his farm to store them in and he doesn’t need anyone’s permission. It is exactly the same as if you wanted to put a car in a garage on your land. As of August 2021 Mr Cameron has permission for his farming museum but not yet to publicly display his locos. But he can can put them in one of his other sheds not on display.
@@juleshathaway3894 well, whatever Mr Cameron does with his locos, I doubt I’ll see this one again, sadly. I’m not a big fan of visiting locos on static display.
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 I agree that on static display is not ideal. It will be running on the East Lancs with Scotsman in the weekend of 4th and 5th of September. So still a chance to get out and film it.
Well done in difficult circumstances Hils, the shot of her leaning to the curve at Wellingborough was brilliant 👍
Thank you, Roger. There were lots of people out to see her, so a bit of a juggle trying not to get too many people in the way. Filming through the fence at York was a bit of a challenge too! 😊 Hilary
My grandfather used to work this engine during her service years. What a machine.
He was a lucky man! It must have been great. 😊
He saw it running at speed a couple years before he passed. It almost brought him to tears, he loved it.
Its a pity the media haven't given any coverage of the retirement of this great train like they do the Flying Scotsman. Thank goodness for people like you and TH-cam great video.
Thank you, Tony for your kind words. I’m glad she didn’t get the media coverage of FS; the platforms might have ended up unbearably crowded! 😊 Hilary
That's an awesome shot at Harpenden, with the long view down the straight and then sweeping through. Also overtaking the Thameslink!
Thanks, Andrei. I liked that spot just there. My favourite kind of view! 😊 Hilary

The one at Harpenden was well inside the Yellow Line of Safety, but those people in the third shot were a bit foolish

Superb video Hilary, great captures at all the locations. Regards, Jeff.
Thank you, Jeff. I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊 Hilary
Wonderful footage Hilary! Love the way you use two separate cameras at many locations. Thanks for posting.

Lovely video, Hilary. That opening sequence is something special!
Thank you, John. I’m glad you enjoyed it. A nice spot for another rail tour at some point in the future! 😊 Hilary
Who ever puts their fingers in their ears when that magnificent sound and vision passes them. Wimps!!!

Well said. Now she is a LEGEND! *****.
Epic approach shot at Harpenden!
Thank you, Trevor. Yep, that was definitely my best shot of the day. Love to see a loco head-on at speed! 😊 Hilary
excellent work hilary not to worry because 60007 is coming back later in the year
Yes, indeed.... all being well, but who knows! 😊
Hils TheTrainLady yeah
Brilliant video!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. 😊 Hilary
The quality of your videos are amazing at one point it felt like we were on the station.
debsym62 Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoy my films. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can see some steam out and about again. 😊 Hilary
I remember when UoSA was in an Engine shed at Markinch Station in Fife. Don't know when or where, but I would love to see this great Locomotive again.
She’s at the East Lancs Railway at the moment, prior to her final retirement. Her boiler ticket for mainline operation expired last year.
Great Video Hilary 🙂
Thanks Edward. It was a long day, but worth it! 😊
nice selection, and the ones with Britannia
Thanks, Geoff. Wouldn’t have missed this last run for anything. 😊 Hilary
Splendid!
Thank you, Michael 😊 Hilary
Super done video Hilary :)
Thank you, Simon. You are very kind. 😊 Hilary
At the end it says, "Thank you for watching.". Believe me, it was my pleasure. What equipment were you using? That was certainly some lens at Harpenden.
Seems the crew like to keep their cylinders dry, with the cylinder drains constantly open. Quite noticeable all around.

Thanks for responding to this Michael. I don't have any technical knowledge, so I appreciate your answer. :-) Hilary
Get me a ticket! Thanks, Great vid.
Thank you! 😊 Hilary
