      At the time of Pearl Harbor he was to old to get drafted. He was interested in enlisting and wrote several letters to John Ford asking he could join his unit but he was the sole provider for his family, who would suffer if he had left so he was unable to join the military.

    I want to teach my daughter The Lord's prayer. That's one of the nicest things I've ever heard John Wayne say. My dad love this man too as I love this man also. But I would have to say it's more than just that I love his movies. I love what he represented. The best that America and Heaven has to offer. Even if these things are ideals from having Heaven is real God is real Yeshua is real. And John Wayne might say this, you're done right it's real. One of the best things ever written in America and it pertains to all things I believe and it is this, we hold these truths to be self-evident. Thank you for posting. God bless stay well stay safe.

    seems strange that they don't seem to be paying much attention to him...a lot of milling around...etc...this really is a great speech, short and precise....and very insightful, emphasizing congress...knowing that it's the last hope of reigning in the Executive and Judicial branch...when they try to exercise power that they do not have...

    • @SuburbanAutodidacticPolymath
      @SuburbanAutodidacticPolymath 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      the reason the crowd isn't compelled to listen is because what you are refusing to see is that this speech is an incoherent jumble of words that have no meaning; they don't speak to anyone then, now, or before. He is trying to make it like the election of Nixon v Humphrey was a real thing, as if it were legitimate. Because it was not a legitimate government then, by then, and now they have to try and put their cap (Trump) to crown the lot, but I say to you. Good luck little child, get in line and pray. Talk to yourself in your own mind, and that will be your ticket. Good for you. I say, because nothing else will do any good. You're acting in bad faith if you say John Wayne was anything but an incoherent sop of drivel in this speech.

  • @retroguy9494
    @retroguy9494 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    "We can get a Congress that will accept its responsibilities and its duties and not brush off all decisions on the executive and then just sit back and whine when that executive or the judicial branch takes more power than they deserve or are entitled to."
    Holy shit its like Wayne was foreshadowing the current period we are in NOW or is speaking to us from the grave! Spooky given some recent Supreme Court decisions and what the executive has done as of late!

    United States of America...... what a country; all you 350m, you are so lucky. America is a serious and proper country, and the democracy and checks on balances is perfect. You may be doubting the situation given the crisis now, but from outside it looks like one of the finest countries in the world could go under because of these silly culture wars. And this is aimed at the MAGA crowd because that behaviour is just.... nuts.

      He used to smoke. Somebody once asked him "Duke, when did you stop smoking?" To which he said "When living was more important to me than smoking."

    • @retroguy9494
      @retroguy9494 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He smoked 5 packs of Camel studs a day. He quit after he had a lung out in 1964. His very first appearance after that operation was a cameo on The Beverly Hillbillies and you can really see the toll it took on him. It was stomach cancer that killed him. But it was attributed not to the smoking, but to a set location in Utah in 1956 where the bomb had been previously tested. Out of 220 cast and crew members at that location, 91 contracted cancer and 46 of them died from it.
