As far as popularity: they were big all the way into the later 90s, their album Angel Dust is straight incredible and worth a full album react, especially bc they matured a ton between this one and that.

@@MugnifyRTS they do when they rap but Mike completely Destroys Anthony on singing, he's one of the most revered voices in rock. His original band Mr Bungle (wore the shirt in this vid) is one of my high school favorites and it's completely strange. There are songs on the self titled album that run through 6 genres over one minute.

Yeah it's hard to deny Anthony Keidis bit a ton off Patton, but even though I love the Chili Peppers, Faith No More has a lot more versatility in their styles. Korn and a a bunch of major bands in the late 90s took a lot of influence from the band as well.

faith no more music is very versatile an changed a lot because the band members were in love with so many styles of music. this album has similar music styles of bands like red hot chili peppers. its not about who ripped off who. theses styles of music belong to no one. faith no more formed first if that means anything to you. both bands are good. i personally prefer faith no more since i love all types of music.

Nice! Been waiting on this band react. I wouldn't start with this song, but I get it. This was their commercial breakout hit. I would've like you to react to We Care A Lot first and work from there. Chilli Peppers came out with Give It Away around 1991 and Epic caught on in 1989 but between mid 80s - early 90s, Rap and Metal was just starting to just merge together which opened the doors to Nu Metal, what happened in between was a mix of bands that still has a few cult followings but some of the major one were 311, No Doubt and Linkin Park. I think Epic was their only rappish song they made but this band is very versatile playing around all types of genres even though they're roots comes from Punk & Metal. Funk Metal was just a natural progression of their sound and they moved on after they tried it. Chili Peppers mastered that sound by the time they made Blood Sugar Sex Magic. They never really pursued a mainstream commercial sound and always cut albums that they were into at the time. Mike Patton gets bored very easily and wanted to explore what he could really do with his voice. Be Aggressive is one of those earworms for me but was shocked to learn what the song was about. The entire album of Angel Dust was genius level song creation which includes their cover of Lionel Richie's "Easy". Every album after this was obvious, they weren't interested in cutting a mainstream catalog but looking for what boundaries they could cross in music.

I'm sure other people have mentioned it before, but what you're hearing is a genre of music called Nu Metal, which both the Chile Peppers and Faith were into.
Unfortunately this came at the tail end of people experimenting with music videos, so it still suffered from quite a bit of its failings. But in this case I'm not sure whether to blame the videographers, the band, or both.
BTW: I'm 62 and terms like "groovy" and "out-of-sight" were even before my time. They would have fit in well in the late '60s and early '70s.

So for one, this song is about “it”,
You want “it” all, but you can’t have “it”
“It’s” in your face but you can’t Grab “it”
Get it, like the song is about the amorphous and unattainable “it”...
Second, Faith No More Hates the Chili peppers, like how Northern California is Different from Southern California, I’d say Faith, and Patton, are more Authentic, which the Peppers and Kiedis are more commercial, while both being California Bands.. I grew up in Northern Cali if you couldn’t tell..
I highly recommend Patton’s other band Mr.Bungle, although you might not be quite so ready for them, that can be... scary...

Red Hot Chilli Peppers were signed with the same label as Faith No More. RHCP's cryed about them sounding like them.and refused to play in venues with them. Rhcp's being more popular at the time silenced FNM and ended their climb to the top unfortunately.. You should check out their song and video Falling to Pieces next. It seems that Green Day copied a bit from their video for their song Basket Case

Chili Peppers were around earlier. I grew up in the Bay Area which had a magical, vibrant music scene. The Chili’s used to come up frequently in the 80’s and would funk you to heaven for $5. They were way funkier early on and were highly influential as a small scene of funk metal appeared from SF to Eureka to Portland and then Seattle. It most likely influenced grunge; a good example is Alice In Chains morphing from hard rock to grunge with funky, chunky distorted chords. Grunge took over and sadly the industry never really gave the other great funk metal bands a look anymore. FNM got signed. The Chili’s then did and really changed their style to less funky. Those were the magic days of music tho. And seeing all the legends at the rock clubs, live….. Satriani dueling solos with Stu Hamm 5 feet in front of your face😵🎉
