I saw that show outdoors at Memorial Stadium in mid-July in Seattle, along with Molly Hatchet and Riot. Ronnie Dio was fronting Sabbath. It was a good day.
@trishc3099 I played in a rock band in high school for a bit not long after that song came out, and we included it in our set and I was so happy the day I finally learned to play the guitar parts on that. It's such a fun song, and of course we would all shout that line! 😀
I can picture Sam wearing that.. Hehe I remember that opening.. WOW. This song was all over the radio. I was still in High School Long Long time ago. Again Thanks for the memories.
“ Time to play B sides “ what a great lyric. In case you didn’t know, the B sides were the backsides of 45 records. The A side contained the “hit record” by the group. Although sometimes the B side became more popular than the A side.
I have a pet theory about the delivery of this line. The enunciation of the line seems very purposeful. I’m theorizing that in the initial take the line might have sounded a little run together and hard to make out, like “timetoplaybsides”. If you have to go back to clean that up, and especially if it takes more than one take to do so, you take exaggerated care to make sure Each. Word. Stands. Out. Now I readily admit that I have no evidence that this happened, and I could be totally wrong, but the way they sing that line just suggests that to me.
ETI - Extra Terrestrial Intelligence is a great tune! Their catalog is just so good. Deep rabbit hole. Veteran of the Psychic Wars might be my favorite!
BOC! The variety of subject matter they explored through the years is one reason this band has always been a favorite of mine. Pretty extensive catalog. You should do "Black Blade" or "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" . Thanks for this one!
Phil’s “Nice.” following the transitions was spot on. The vocals kinda ‘chant’ the way in and then rise to a pointed finish. A very well constructed song.
This song was one of those songs that was not earth- shattering, but just so easy on the ears, you didn't mind how often it was on the radio back then.
Yeah, I'm getting that feeling listening here. I'm enjoying it, remembering back to when I heard it originally.... but I think I'm good for another 10-12 years until the next listen.
BLUE OYSTER CULT - " Godzilla "/ " Veterans Of The Psychic Wars"/ " Joan Crawford "/ " Cities On Flame With Rock and Roll "/ " Golden Age Of Leather " 70's / 80's Classic Rock Jams these are more great ones 🤘🎸🎹📻
This was the only tour I saw them on when the album came out in 1981. This is my favorite track from the album with runners up being Joan Crawford and Veterans Of The Psychic Wars which was also in the movie Heavy Metal which has a great soundtrack. Burning For You was as close to mainstream as BOC got and still sounds good today, it's been part of a Playlist for me since 1981. Godzilla is a good one as well as Take Me Away.
One of the best rock bands there ever was. Their earlier albums were really heavy, with songs like Cities on Flame, Then Came the Last Days of May, Astronomy.
Always love seeing a reaction to my all-time favourite band! Would love to see you guys react to Harvest Moon, Dancing in the Ruins, or Astronomy next!
Was M9nsters the 9nly time they added a sax to the mix? Also off of Cultasauros Erectus is the science fiction piece Black Blade written with Michael Moorcock
I don’t think I even know that one. Will have to check that out. Been digging their new stuff also. And the players in common with The Band Geeks backing up Jon “Yes” Anderson.
@RabbiSteve1 They've released it on three different albums. I think the consensus is that the Some Enchanted Evening version is best, but I prefer Imaginos.
You cannot go wrong with this fantastic album. For me the best they made. Every song a killer for various reasons. Thanks again guys. You can buy fashion, you can't buy style- get the bone necklace.
That was so fun. And I love Sam's description of the effect of the album art, laugh. Those were some really pithy couplets in the verses, and I think my favorite and it's almost kind of a pun, is in the second one where he's talking about time, and he slips in that line "Time to play B-sides"... know someone who grew up in the 70s, vinyl, including singles, was a huge part of my overall love for music. There was also a tip of the hat to an early Rolling Stones song in there as well. ❤
I think this song is about the band touring and being on the road and the fans are the ones they're burnin' for. In the first verse he says "Home on the highway" and then he says "Home I'll never be" basically describing what it's like being in a touring band and he's basically saying you fans are the reason we're doing this. We're "Burnin' For You"
You're probably right. I think some people at the time who didn't think much about the lyrics, though, may have just gotten a surface level -- the singer is attracted to whoever "you" is.
Great band and live. Revolution by night is actually a great album as well. Shooting shark is cool, take me away featuring Aldo Nova rips. This whole album is great too, veteran of physic wars, fire of unknown origin, sole survivor, heavy metal
Definitely some more BOC would rock the house! If you want to hear something even harder that was also one of their popular radio songs, I'd go with Godzilla; if you want something epic, I'd go for either Astronomy or Veteran of the Psychic Wars. Those are some of the better deep cuts. I also gave the links below. Veteran of the Psychic Wars was used in the cult classic animated movie, "Heavy Metal" from 1981. The guitar solo in the live version is nothing short of amazing, which is why I gave the live version for that one. Godzilla - th-cam.com/video/FE1BynevdUo/w-d-xo.html Astronomy - th-cam.com/video/U0t_wb0lUW0/w-d-xo.html Veteran of the Psychic Wars (live) - th-cam.com/video/7pFdkkjGiEs/w-d-xo.html
FYI: Lead guitarist Buck Dharma sings this and Don’t Fear the Reaper. However, everyone sang lead vocals, with guitarist Eric Bloom, original drummer Albert Bouchard (who was gone by the time Burnin’ for You came out) and Buck Dharma doing most of them.
Actually, Al was on this album (FOUO) but was fired during the tour for the album after he was late or failed to show up for a couple of shows in the UK.
Veteran of Psychic Wars off ETL live album...Astronomy off Some Enchanted Evening...I Love the Night....Dominance and Submission off ETL..Then Came the Last Days of Mat off On Your Feet or On Your Knees...Many many others...fantastic band...GREAT LIVE BAND! I have seen them many times..last in September 2024.
I was always a fan. Saw them with Uriah Heap at the Capitol Center in the Landover Md. in the late 70’s. Great show. They made a lot of great music but my favorite has always been ET. Just something about it that makes my head bob.
Leave Sam alone , I love the way she catches things on videos :) Great song , radio hit for sure. This is my young teen years and I love BOC ! Keep diving in guys :)
First concert I ever saw. My best friend made a big square banner with the BOC sign on it out of felt cloth. We were on the floor about ten rows back and he rolled it up and threw it onstage, and Buck Dharma picked it up and put it on like a cape for a minute or so. It was a friggen magical night! This album is excellent from the opening title track all the way to the end.
My favorites from this album are "Fires of Uknown Origin", "Joan Crawford", "Veterans of the Psychic Wars." They put out a great album "The Symbol Remains" in 2020 and another in 2024 "Ghost Stories" which I just ordered, no experience with. The "Symbol" is on the back cover of this album and on the front of Agents of Fortune where the magician is pointing to it.
Righteous bass and drums on this. 🔥 As for the Devil, that's usually a symbol for temptation. "Giving the Devil his due" would be acknowledging the power of temptation.
Great reaction to a great, underrated band!!! I remember seeing this video on MTV a lot in the early days. Loved them then and I love it now. You gotta check out the song Godzilla. CHEERS...🍻👏🤟🍀
For the first time, after hearing this song a number of times over the decades, I am discerning Rush-like bass and guitar work. This came out around the same time as Rush's Moving Pictures LP.
The cool thing about this song is different genres that follows like some amazing song like it's guitar stars with that 70s you know hard rock and it goes into that like reggae dub cleaned guitar then it goes into the hard Rock into a blues rif into a straight metal rif
If you guys liked Don't Fear the Reaper, you would definitely like BOC's 'I Love the Night.' It's about a guy who's bummed out about his girlfriend breaking up and he's out for a walk alone on a gloomy night and meets a female vampire along the way. Do a lyric video. 🎼🎶 The day is okay and the Sun can be fun but I live to those rays slip away🎶
Yes, Godzilla is a must!
Black Sabbath and BOC toured together... it was called the Black and Blue Tour. That was 1980.
I saw that show outdoors at Memorial Stadium in mid-July in Seattle, along with Molly Hatchet and Riot. Ronnie Dio was fronting Sabbath. It was a good day.
Riot, a band practically nobody has reacted to, unfortunately.
I have a fond memory of seeing that movie at a midnight showing at the tender age of 13. What an experience!
That makes sense. Sounds a thousand times better than most of the modern concerts.
My first concert,,,,,I was 15. 💥💥💥👍😎
I saw blue oyster cult just two years ago they still are great. Me and my wife had front row seats.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG OF THEIRS IT'S DEFINITELY ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME
"GODZILLA" for sure! Digging the reaction so far. ❤
Go go Godzilla!
@trishc3099 I played in a rock band in high school for a bit not long after that song came out, and we included it in our set and I was so happy the day I finally learned to play the guitar parts on that. It's such a fun song, and of course we would all shout that line! 😀
BOC-
1)"Cities on Flame" 🔥
2) " Godzilla"
Check out Cities On Flame with Rock n Roll.
I can picture Sam wearing that.. Hehe I remember that opening.. WOW. This song was all over the radio. I was still in High School Long Long time ago. Again Thanks for the memories.
There are so many great songs from BOC
I love this entire album!
“ Time to play B sides “ what a great lyric.

@@CombinatorialImplosi It may also have been to distinguish it from saying "besides."
@@mayLibertyprevail1a That's another possibility. Whatever they did, I just get the feeling they had to clean up something from an earlier take
'I Love the Night' should be on your list.👍
ETI - Extra Terrestrial Intelligence is a great tune! Their catalog is just so good. Deep rabbit hole. Veteran of the Psychic Wars might be my favorite!
Would love to see u do “Joan Crawford” from the album😮!
@@micv5149 would be perfect for spooky season
BOC! The variety of subject matter they explored through the years is one reason this band has always been a favorite of mine. Pretty extensive catalog. You should do "Black Blade" or "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" . Thanks for this one!
Great choice! Just reminds me of how much fun it was growing up in the 60's & 70's. When music was real.
The Last Days of May
Phil’s “Nice.” following the transitions was spot on. The vocals kinda ‘chant’ the way in and then rise to a pointed finish. A very well constructed song.
This song was one of those songs that was not earth- shattering, but just so easy on the ears, you didn't mind how often it was on the radio back then.

Man, I love this whole album. BÖC totally fucking rock!
Last Days Of May….from the On Your Feet Or On Your Knees Album ✌️
BLUE OYSTER CULT - " Godzilla "/ " Veterans Of The Psychic Wars"/ " Joan Crawford "/ " Cities On Flame With Rock and Roll "/ " Golden Age Of Leather " 70's / 80's Classic Rock Jams these are more great ones 🤘🎸🎹📻
Blue Oyster Cult have a lot of great songs that are worth checking out they are great band
BOC!!! Love these guys, great job

GODZILLA !!!!!!! Sam is mesmerized by the cult . She is going to join

Veterans of the Psychic Wars - BOCs best
ETI for the win..!
Godzilla, Astronomy, I Love the Night, Death Valley Nights, Last Days of May, Cities on Flames, ME262...
The DVD version of "Long Day's Night" concert (summer solstice 2002, I believe) has an amazing version of Last Days of May.
Take Me Away, Dancing in The Ruins, Godzilla, Shooting Shark
Thanks!
Great Band. So many sounds to them.
I love the Night
Godzilla
Monsters
and many many more.
Godzilla is the best
I Love the Night is my favorite of theirs
Was M9nsters the 9nly time they added a sax to the mix? Also off of Cultasauros Erectus is the science fiction piece Black Blade written with Michael Moorcock
Astronomy is an underappreciated favorite that gets missed by reactors.
I don’t think I even know that one. Will have to check that out. Been digging their new stuff also. And the players in common with The Band Geeks backing up Jon “Yes” Anderson.

I love everything about this song.
Great guitar work here.
Godzilla is a great guitar song! Probably there best imo!
You saved the best for last!
Oyster Bay , Long Island NY
Here's a few favorites ;
Cities on flame with Rock and Roll
Take me Away
I think this song is about the band touring and being on the road and the fans are the ones they're burnin' for. Blue Oyster Cult “On Tour Forever “
Next should be Then Came the Last Days of May (Live) or Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll
Nice job again. Harvest Moon is a haunting number that's also just a cool song.
Timeless classic! One of my fave 80s songs! dbl ♥
Time to play B-sides 📀
One of the best rock-metal band🤘
Saw them too, GREAT BAND🐐🎸🔥😍😁
Definitely some more BOC would rock the house! Yes! That live version is🔥! More people need to know who Buck Dharma is!
100% Vet is epic
The studio version of Veteran of the Psychic Wars was on the album Fire of Unknown Origin, which also had Burnin' For You.
Love song, bro. Godzilla is great. As is the whole fire of unknown origin album.
One of the best rock/pop songs ever!!!💯👍😎🏴
FYI: Lead guitarist Buck Dharma sings this and Don’t Fear the Reaper. However, everyone sang lead vocals, with guitarist Eric Bloom, original drummer Albert Bouchard (who was gone by the time Burnin’ for You came out) and Buck Dharma doing most of them.
Albert Bouchard is currently playing in the reconstituted Dictators.
Actually, Al was on this album (FOUO) but was fired during the tour for the album after he was late or failed to show up for a couple of shows in the UK.
This was such a great band in concert!! 🎵

The Great Sun Jester

Veteran of the Psychic Wars ...LIVE!!!!
And Dominance and Submission live also.
The live one From 1981
A likable cult just great tunes with no Kool Aid to drink
Ah high school days. My favorite BO C song 🔥 thanks
Love this song!!❤❤
Love your reactions!!❤❤
Leave Sam alone , I love the way she catches things on videos :) Great song , radio hit for sure. This is my young teen years and I love BOC ! Keep diving in guys :)
Love the reaction. Really great tune 🎵
I love the scratch of his fingers changing chords. Sounds great with the base riff
I always liked that too. And the way the 1st note soars into the leads.
DEFINITELY GODZILLA!!!!!!
Veteran of the Psychic Wars from the sound track Heavy Metal (movie 1981) also on this album.
"Cities A Flame With Rock & Roll", "Black Blade", "In Thee" or "Heavy Metal Black & Silver"
Have to see the video! Will give you a new meaning to the song.😉
One of the most clean rock songs ever.
this whole album is good, this was one of the albums that part of the soundtrack of my teen years.
The album cover IS the Blue Oyster Cult, if you listen to the song Subhuman it lays out the story .
The Great BOC!
Saw them in a bar in the 70's before they were famous. 😊
saw them at a small nightclub (the channel) in boston ...after they were famous
(it was one of those "secret shows")
My favorites from this album are "Fires of Uknown Origin", "Joan Crawford", "Veterans of the Psychic Wars." They put out a great album "The Symbol Remains" in 2020 and another in 2024 "Ghost Stories" which I just ordered, no experience with. Sam playing Air Guitar 🎸!!!😂😂😂😂
Godzilla is another good one by BOC
This is my favorite BOC album. All the songs are great. My favorite songs from this album are Vengeance, After Dark, and Veterans of the Psychic Wars
What about next topic is more on new wave song maam/ sir..we are here from the philippines...shout out maam❤❤❤
You should definitely check out Godzilla!
Nice video of this song
There is an actual video to this song ! It’s one of the first videos played on MTV
The cool thing about this song is different genres that follows like some amazing song like it's guitar stars with that 70s you know hard rock and it goes into that like reggae dub cleaned guitar then it goes into the hard Rock into a blues rif into a straight metal rif

🎼🎶 The day is okay and the Sun can be fun but I live to those rays slip away🎶
They also do Vampire love affairs with I Love The Night!!!!
Godzilla is a must as well.
You should review Veteran Of The Psychic Wars
Sam is a great air guitarist!
MONSTER groove.
This is my all-time favorite song and Phil you have a personality of a turnip , Godzilla is a great song from BOC
More like a rutabaga 😆
One of my favorite songs! I do think you'll dig their song Joan Crawford and also as mentioned Godzilla.
BOC rocks, glad you like them, for something from them real different try "last days of may !"
They used to tour a LOT and it was always a great show. They were first to use big industerial lasers on their guitars or the singers bracelet.
Dominance and Submission
