I remember playing this game with the light side ending and when I saw how Revan used his love to bring Bastila back to the light side, it made me see that even though the Jedi are against love it was used for good
The fact that the Jedi are completely in line with suppressing their emotions, especially love, instead of dealing with them in a positive fashion is what leads to multiple Jedi Schisms and their destruction on more than one occasion through the lore. If anything, people should pick up that this was the 'worst' thing the Jedi taught and it was hammered home in multiple examples of it leading to their own destruction, again and again.
Yeah the jedi's rule on no love is dumb. It's been proven time and again how much good attachment can do for the Force
Uh . . . no, the Jedi allow love. Attachment is the greedy, possessive, selfish form of it. That’s what leads to the Dark Side.
George Lucas himself said this.
“The secret ultimately, like in Star Wars, is that you have to not be afraid. Fear is the enemy; fear is the Dark Side. If you afraid, you are going to the Dark Side. The Light Side is compassion. As long as you love other people and treat them kindly, you won’t be afraid. So, the secret is just to love everybody. I know that sounds very 60s but that’s when I grew up in, but it is fear that cause the problem. So you have to stop being afraid and be kind to everybody.”
“The thing with Anakin is that he started out a great kid, he was very compassionate. So the issue was, how did he turn bad. How did he go to the Dark Side? He went to the Dark Side, Jedi aren’t supposed to have attachments. They can love people, they can do that. But they can’t attach. That’s the problem in the world of fear, once you are attached to something, then you become afraid of losing it. And when you become afraid of losing it, then you turn to the Dark Side, and you want to hold onto it, and that was Anakin’s issue ultimately.”
And, in another interview:
“The Jedi are trained to let go. They’re trained from birth. They’re not supposed to form attachments. They can love people - in fact, they should love everybody. They should love their enemies; they should love the Sith. But they can’t form attachments. So what all these movies are about is: greed. Greed is a source of pain and suffering for everybody.”
“If you go to the side of the light, you will be happy because compassion, helping other people, not thinking about yourself (…) that gives you a joy that you can’t get any other way. Being selfish, following your pleasures, always entertaining yourself with pleasure, and buying things and doing stuff, you’re always going to be unhappy (…) You finally get everything you want and you’re miserable, because there’s nothing at the end of that road.”
The Jedi love, and they love deeply. It’s why Obi-Wan helps everyone he comes across despite his (frankly terrible) life, and why Plo Koon reached out his hand to save Boba Fett, someone who’d tried to murder his friends. It’s why Mace Windu fights to save the Zillo Beast, and Cham Syndulla’s Freedom Fighters. It’s why Depa Billaba fights, just out of a bacta tank after months in a catatonic state, to help a small initiate who she would later take under her wing. It’s why Cal Kestis forgives Merrin, who has sent enemy after enemy to try to kill him. It’s why Shaak Ti saves as many baby clones as she can, despite the Kaminoans interfering. Luminara Unduli, Kanan Jarrus, Aayla Secura, Ki-Adi Munda, Kit Fisto… we see these Jedi protect and nurture all innocent life they can find, regardless of status or sentience or enmity.
Because that’s what being a Jedi means.
The Jedi love.
Not against love, buy attachment.
In psychotherapy and pedagogy (Which i studied) its never mentioned and would be considered unprofessional still its the only thing that can truly help people.

Damn, I sure do miss playing this game a lot. Best romance is Bastila and Revan. Even after they go their separate ways, she still loves him and he kept on going to fight against the Emperor. I wish he would have stayed with her.
The writers committed a crime with how they treated Revan after this. Forget all that crap. In reality they settled down and started a bar.
"Revan knew he must leave all loves behind. Because such attachments are not the way of the Jedi, and they would do him no good in the Dark places where he now walks. It would have helped had he made Bastila understand, but she was always strong-willed, that one and did not understand war as Revan did. You must go where he did, into the Unknown Regions, where the Sith, the true Sith, wait for us in the Dark." -Kreia.
Technically its cannon the romance with revan they have a kid which carry on there bloodline eventually leading to star wars the old Republic with satele shan who also had a son with a commando named jace malcom there son is theron shan but he isn't a force sensitive

As horrible as the dark side ending is for the galaxy in this game, it is actually rather touching Bastila kept to her pledge of love for you at the end and going into the second game, no doubt the last pure and honest thing she'd do going from that point on but still sweet is sweet, even when it's the dark side.
Oh man, seeing this again after so many years takes me back. Makes me think of the hours I played this game.

@@NaughtyGaming- If we use a female Revan, the whole Canon part of Revan would not be feasible. But if Revan was a woman in Legends, it could make sense in the Lore of the Expanded Universe if those endings change.

One thing i never understood about the star wars universe is how black and white the dark/light side of the force is. If you are on the light side you can only do gooody good stuff. If you're on the dark side you kill everyone and are a bad guy.
If i somehow woke up and had insane amounts of power, i wouldnt exactly be evil but i wouldnt exactly be good either. Id be a self serving explorer or some shit.
the dark side of the force works differently from what your thinking its not per say fully evil but it will x100 enhance the bad emotions and not only supercharge your emotions but supercharge your powers to a degree depending on how much control you have of it also at the cost of your sanity and your looks.
thats why yodas jedi order feared the dark side so much. Any slip to the dark side is like being pulled by the hulk
Well, the EU was much more nuanced about the Force, especially with regards to the various RPG's, be it video game or table top...
Some of the RPG books actually delved into it and in much more detail than the movies and most of the comcis.
Of course Disney "officially" wiped that away and simply turned it into: "Space Magic we use to hand wave shit in the movies because we don't give a shit about consistency and fornicate the fans because this isn't made for you!"

The Darkside corrupts.
Anger makes people do horrible things even in the real world so in a way Star Wars relates to our world.
Fear makes people do stupid things fear leads to violence.
It takes a very strong willed Jedi to not turn to the Darkside when using force lightning.
Sure some Jedi tried to keep their emotions in check while using darkside powers but eventually turned.

It’s crazy that just her dialogue is two hours of content. What a great game I played this more times then I remember and it felt short I wish we could get a remake even if it was the Same story with modern graphics and updated fighting system.

But he failed to realise he was not alone, he formed a Dyad in the force with Bastilla
@@splashnskillz37 First, Revan never had a dyad in the Force with Bastila, as she couldn't sense where he was. In the Rise of Skywalker, Kylo Ren removed a necklace from Rey's neck, allowing him to sense where she was, but Bastilla didn't know where Revan was in KOTOR II. It was a different type of Force bond she used between them. Revan of course, was not alone, due to this connection, and he knew this. That is why he said to Malak: I still believe in the power of redemption.

Look, in her defense, while she may have been saying you're dangerous just to get out of talking about her attraction, she was right at least. Lmao

For those who don't know: You can reject Bastilla on the Star Forge and tell her you don't love her and she'll live and join the Jedi to use her battle meditation against the Sith fleet so you get the best ending as long as you completed her loyalty mission (reuniting her with her mother) and use the Light Side dialogue to convince her to reject the Dark Side.
If you did not complete her loyalty mission and try to convince her to turn and then tell her you don't love her she will lose control and attack you, forcing you to kill her.
On the Dark Side ending, you can simply choose to kill her which is the darkest of the Dark Side endings. You get to break her heart and then kill her while she's at her weakest, like a true Sith.
I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think there is also an ending where you can reject her and she'll still join your side but won't fight by your side when you confront Malak, she'll instead use her Battle Meditation to bolster the Sith Fleet so the Republic fleet can't attack the Star Forge while you fight Malak.
I've only done Light Side playthroughs myself though because I don't have the heart to kill someone as sweet as Mission and I have done the rejection good game plus ending a few times and found out after she died the first time I rejected her that her mother was located in a bar which I missed during that playthrough so I never completed her loyalty mission. In all my other playthroughs I did and she lived every time.
Yea killing mission was too tuff I literally deleted my save when I found out that was part of the dark ending

@@JabamiLain I have. Revan and Bastila defy the rules of the Jedi by marrying. Jedi break the rules all the time: Nomi and Adrian Sunrider, Satele Shan and Jace Malcom, Hero of Tython and Kira Carsen, Ki-Adi Mundi... and of course, Anakin and Padme. Yet the beauty of KotOR is that Revan remains true to the Light, rather than falling to the Dark Side like Anakin, so that's why the Light Side is canon. It's a subversion you don't see in Star Wars (especially not TLJ)

I remember getting the light side ending and after the ships flew by and the credits rolled, I was like "No! It's over?!" Knew it had to happen but that's how good this game is. Just wish KOTOR 2 didn't have that incomplete ending.
