      @dokaos924,
      Thank you for your comment and we are glad you enjoyed our video. I agree with you, movies from the 50's had such an appeal to them. It's interesting that the movies from this era get remade on a fairly consistent basis. My belief for that is because those movies had to rely on delivering a much stronger story than just delivering special effects that too many of the newer movies depend on. Again thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated, and stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day.

      Thank you for your comment. The Creature from the Black Lagoon is a fun movie in my opinion, and my wife, Mrs. Sci-Fi and More would agree with you that it is considered a comfort movie. The second film, Revenge of the Creature is pretty good as well. The third one, The Creature Walks Among us, thats a tough one. Let's just say it's an acquired taste. Not good, not bad, just different. Thank you again for your comment, it is a greatly appreciated. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day.

      Thank you for your comment. I have to say out of all the comments I have received over all three of these videos, you are the first one to point that out. And you are not wrong. When I did the first one, I knew 10 was going to be very light. But the idea with the first one was to just gauge interest, so I went with the top of mind favorites, or more specifically, titles that are easily recognizable. I had no empirical information to go on when generating the list, so it comes across as more of a personal opinion. After the first one, the comments came in with some really great suggestions and then I built the lists for the next two videos with the viewer and subscriber suggestions in mind. I totaled up how many times each individual movie were mentioned and based the lists on those numbers. I'm glad you enjoyed our video, and thank you for watching. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi on the way. Have a great day.

      @detroitdan8487,
      Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed our video, and I apologize for my late response to your comment. I had to be an "Adult" for a couple of months. I agree with you, "IT" is the 1950's Alien. I saw both those movies when I was a kid, but I saw them in reverse. I saw Alien first, then one good day on the local Detroit Creature Feature in the 70's I saw IT, and the kid version of me thought, I've seen this move...This is Alien. I have a draft I'm working one right now for an Alien vs IT side by side comparison video. I don't have a title yet, and my research is very limited at this point. But coming soon because this conversation has come up a few times throughout all the comments in our 1950's Sci-Fi movie videos we have done, so I thought it's time for a side by side comparison video. Anyway, thank you again for your comment it is greatly appreciated. And stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi on the way. Have a great day.

      @ThomasWLalor,
      Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. We are glad you enjoyed our video. I agree with you, these movies, even today are a great diversion. I have always felt like the best part of the 50's and 60's movies were the fact that the special effects were not what they are today, forcing a greater emphasis on a much stronger story. I've always appreciated that from all of these movies. Not all of them from this era have compelling stories, but a lot do. And thank you so much for subscribing. Once we get through the holidays, we will be right back to creating videos with more regularity, but until then, stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi to come. @scifiandmore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @randyflynn6402,
      Thank you for your comment. The old Monster Movies, are just special and just resonate. I was toying around with the idea of exploring the old monster movies a little closer with stand alone videos highlighting either the monster itself, or just one movie that features a specific monster. And, we do live in an interesting time with fresh movies continuing the classic monsters. There is a new Godzilla/Kong movie coming out in the American Monsterverse series, along with the Monarch series on Apple TV, which seems to be a direct sequel to the 2014 Godzilla movie that took place in San Francisco. And Japan has the new "Godzilla: Minus One" movie coming out soon. That Minus One movie looks fantastic. Lately, I've been wanted to check out Ishiro Honda's two 1950's Sci-Fi films, The Mysterians, and Battle in Outer Space back to back. Today might be a good day. It's Halloween, and it's raining. Perfect movie day. Thank you again for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. And, I'm glad you enjoyed all three of our 1950's Sci-Fi videos. Stay tuned, there is more Sci-Fi on the way. Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. I am actually a huge life-long fan of all things Sci-Fi, and I try to put in the proper time to make a good informative script, and I actually practice my delivery since radio or TV personality was never part of my professional resume. And since I'm a huge fan, and the genre brings me so much entertainment, I want to convey that level of excitement as I narrate the videos. I actually enjoy talking about all these movies, or on a smaller degree, the movies or shows I talk about in the "Short" videos I've done. But there is always room for improvement, and the goal is to keep making these videos, but make each one better than the other. Again, your comment is greatly appreciated. Thank you for that. @fredobot5298,
      Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. We hope you enjoyed our video. I included the Maze, because when I was making the list for this video, The Maze, along with the other movies that were represented in the video, came up a number of times in the comments. So based on the number of times each movie was mentioned in the comments, thats how they fell in the ranking. It's very difficult to respond to all the comments just due to the shear volume of comments. So I thought, we can make the comments have some real weight by taking the viewer and subscriber comments and suggestions, and preparing a video based on what the viewers suggestions were. For people that did comment that I couldn't respond to, I wanted them to feel heard. Again, we hope you enjoyed our video, and thank you again for your comment. It was only some time later that I learnt that the sounds I had heard were construction work going on in a new industrial estate near the suburb where I lived. 20 Million Miles to Earth is one of Harryhausen's best. Also, there is a subtle difference between it and other "Creature Features." The Ymir creature has been brought to Earth by accident, it is in an unfamiliar environment, and changes are happening to it that it cannot understand. Locations and Effects are top notch for the era, too.

      Thank you for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. And I'm glad you enjoyed our video. Ray Harryhausen, during the 50's was ahead of his time. It makes me wonder if he were alive today what accomplishments we could be enjoying in modern science fiction films. It's movies like this, in my opinion, really pushed the envelope of what was possible in creating stunning creature and location settings. This one is one of my personal favorites from that era. Thank you again for your comment, and stay tuned, there is more sci-fi on the way. Have a great day.

    I've seen about a third of these and heard of another third. Really nice to be reminded of them and explore the ones I haven't heard of. 20 Million miles is an amazing movie. Harryhausen gave so many of his creatures a life of their own and personality. As well as creating fear he could just as effectively create empathy.

I put this list together based on the movies that commonly came up in the comments of the first two 1950’s sci-fi videos we did, so based on that count, that’s why 20 million miles fell where it did. But from a personal point of view, based on the movies I put in the video, 20 million miles would have been number one. Again, thank you so much for your comment, it is greatly appreciated. I've been enjoying the Sci-Fi movies that were made in the Soviet Union during this era. Growing up during the Cold War, anything Russian was portrayed as being bad and Evil, but now that we know a lot more about it, they made some really good science fiction movies. I guess the fact that they were government subsidized meant they had bigger budgets to do their special effects which led to some amazing movies. They're dedication to Scientific realism, or at least as much as they knew at the time, is amazing to watch.

    Most of these films were part of my youth. Usually viewed on WPIX NY channel 11's Chiller Theatre or WORTV NY channel 9's Fright Night. So much of my adult life would be shaped by my experience of these films. Modern films don’t take many risks (although short original independent films on TH-cam such as DUST now fill that gap) the way these films did. I just rewatched George Pal's classic When Worlds Collide. The powerful emotions rendered by the superb script, ground shaking effects, and enthusiastic performances by the actors make this film a great experience. When John Hoyt as the unpleasent Mr. Stanton is seen getting up out of his wheelchair as he stumbles to get on the departing spaceship he paid for, you can cut the tension with a knife! And I simply MUST site the absolutely NEVER-equaled scene where the surface of the earth is RIPPED away by the gravity Bellus. As a kid, this one scene left me with my jaw dropped every time i saw it!!!

    I always find it funny that movie makers underestimated the distance from Earth to the planets. The real distances are so much greater! Earth to Venus is over 90 million miles not 20 million and Mars is 140 million miles away. In the "Day the Earth Stood Still" Klatu says he came 400,000 miles which is a bit more then the distance to the moon! But back in 1950s everyone thought there was the possibility of life on the planets in our solar system. Today we know there is no life on Venus because it is so hot and Mars and the moon have no atmosphere. The other planets are just as empty and the nearest star with a planet is fifty years away at the speed of light.

    The Maze may not be the best 3D movie ever but the gorgeous monochrome photography means it's definitely one of the most beautiful. There were a number of 1950's movies that were broadcast on TV in the 70's in 3D, and you had to have the blue and red lens 3D glasses to properly appreciate the film on TV. The creature from the Black Lagoon is the one that comes to mind as being the one film that was consistently aired on TV in 3D. And it has been a number of years, but I don't really think I've ever seen the Maze in 3D. But now I want too.

      @@scifiandmore It's unfortunate that most people still think that red/cyan anaglyphs are the only way to view 3D. The 50s classics and, indeed, most other 3D movies were originally meant to be seen using Polaroid glasses, a vastly superior format. Although anaglyphs work OK with monochrome movies, they're not much use with color movies. Modern passive 3D TVs also used a form of polarisation.

    The Maze is an excellent movie until the end when they introduce the creature, to modern eyes a letdown. I'm a moderate fan of sci-fi movies, I like the very best, so I was surprised to see no mention of Red Planet Mars (1952). The recent MGM Blu-ray has excellent picture & sound quality. More of a thriller than sci-fi Seven Days To Noon (1950), with a nuclear angle that makes it futuristic & thought provoking. The Kino Blu-ray is excellent. Enjoy!

      Saw the maze in 3D . Not much 3d in that movie until the end.

    I worked at a chemical plant. Quatermass II (Enemy from Space) was always in the back of my mind. :)

      Thank you for your comment. I can completely see why Quatermass II would resonate in your mind working at a chemical plant. Stay tuned, we have more Sci-Fi to come. Have a great day.

    As a kid, I thought The Man from Planet X was pretty scary. The creature, looked like a clown and there is so much atmosphere in this film it still holds up to this day. Reminds me a little of the much later American Werewolf in London with a similar spooky atmosphere. Also, William Schallert made his film debut in Planet X and almost 400 IMDB entries later, he passed away in 2016.
    Also, It the Terror from Beyond Space is basically the plot of Alien (Ridley Scott's) many years later. It's also a very good film.

    I know it sounds silly, but, 6:46, that was a nifty landing gear- I say that because I've drawn landing gears of F-16s before.

    1957's 'Invisible Invaders'with legendary sci-fi and horror actor John Agar would be one of my picks.It's the first movie imo that depicts the current zombie genre.The premise is aliens revive the dead to fight for them so you get a two in one sci-fi/horror punch.

      Invisible Invaders has become a favorite of mine online. It's funny in all the right ways, and fairly clear in its influence on George Romero's Night Of The Living Dead.

    Fiend Without a Face is a superb film, did I miss it in your other two videos. Attack by Invisible aliens which makes effects easy & cheap but they become visible part way through and rather than being a disappointment the visible monsters are actually quite good
