This explained why I didn't have the cool down I needed without the H Crest. I couldn't get over 9 conjurations and the damage was way less than my fireball with illuminator and endless rage! Thanks!

Just finished this build and I'm having a blast with it. Carried my buddies from 50 to 100 in a couple hours of running tier 7 hordes. Carried them through uber lilith and farmed a couple mythics. Some really good tips in this video, I'll make sure to implement next time I play.

Dont get tal Rasha, get a good ring with crit/critdmg/intel instead. roll spear cdr on the ring, and then more crit dmg. drop the gloves and use fist of fate with high lucky hit instead, use the aspect from the gloves on ur new ring.

I am so glad you are mentioning how gear heavy this spec is, I recently started playing sorc coming from a rogue main since the beginning. Most rogue specs seem to come online sooner and flourish more with high end gear but this sorc has me bashing my head how long it took to kill things. Fireball felt amazing early on, but seeing chain lightning, I wanted to give that a go, then I recently spotted this spec. Time to reroll back to Fire for now until I hit one hundred lol.
You can initialy play the version that focuses more on the frozen orb part of the build and slowly build up to the pure lightning spear variant over time. That being said, sorc has so many great builds this season it is ultiamtly up to personal taste. Seen fireball and like 3 other builds destroy tier 8s this season already, so there is no real 'I have to play this' pressure by the end of the day.
Yeah I would definitely stick with Fireball until you get some of the better gear, it helps a lot. Helps even more if you use the correct aspect on your staff, which I haven't been since I switched from Fireball, DOHHHHH!

Fire Hydra is a great build to go into this. Just buffing it on gear really destroys the early game. Made it to Tier 3 at level 29, and Tier 4 at level 44, after that you can switch to your lightning spear build or just do an all conjuration build that focuses on Fire Hydra and is almost as good as your build. Anyway, it's a really fast way to get into any Sorcerer build. Three Hydra's with eight heads each just bring the smoke! I'd love to see if you can break the Fire Hydra. I literally never have to even cast it, just always have three with frozen orb.
Chain lightning paired with crackling is a good contender too. Can also pump out Lightning strikes just as fast as you utilize crackling cool down rate of all lightning skills.
Most fun build I've played in a while. S4 flay barb was fun for the big numbers but the AOE on this makes you feel like a god. I got really lucky with my shako as it rolled GA on CDR. Still missing tyraels but will farm that up this week sometime. Only other thing I have to solve is crit chance, need some GA on gloves on ring. Its still clearing T8 and pit 101 very comfortably though.
Throw doom bringer on and get cooldown reduction on the focus and you can get 4x multiplier on tal rashas and with the boost to damage reduction on doom bringer it feels very good. Running through tear 8s no problem

Its unfortunate that the cooldown reduction from Ice blade enchantment only applies to the ones YOU SUMMON by pressing the button yourself, not by what is summoned with the amulet or such.
Not a jab at anyone really, although there are a lot of people that copy paste builds and change stuff, seemingly making it worse just for the sake of making it their own
Thanks for this, used a couple of other guides already and it's good to get a new perspective. I have pretty decent gear, but just didn't feel like it was clicking for me ... Of course if I hadn't been a total idiot and actually changed the aspect on my staff .... I'd left it on the creeping death aspect from my fireball build. Holy crap, now I'm deleting room fulls of 160 plus mobs, its crazy. And still have some gear optimising to do! The lesson here is don't be an idiot! 🤣
I was using axial conduit with lightning spear until I got a fractured winterglass. It was almost the same build except I dumped points into chain lightning and was using chain lightning tempers. But yes, you are right about the gear requirements.
I think Andariels+Fists of Fate with really high lucky hit chance might be stronger than the "base" version. Fates pushes the CDR from Amulet and procs from Andariels through the roof, and the amount of summons doubles, causing ridiculous amount of procs. You become limited by attack speed, which Andariels, Fate and Starless Skies ring all provide
Im so new to understanding builds. Ive always played diablo just for fun and used sorcerer and i enjoy all the fire power's. Now that im a 100, doing pits and trying to understand the game and seeing how deep this goes, i need to know where to start to actually understand what im doing. This video seems to be the most helpful, but some terms dont make sense 😢 where can i start as if im brand new to this?
While you’re gearing up for the Lightning Spear build you can also level and farm with the Fireball build. Especially if you find Staff of Endless Rage and Gloves of the Illuminator. I’ve been able to clear level 100 nightmare dungeons and level 60 pit so far with the Fireball build.
Yeah good tip. When you masterwork your gear in the right way you can get to pit 100 (comfortable farming pit 90) and can do T6 hordes with fireball sorc. At least thats what i have managed. Now that i can farm gormented bosses and got myself a shako i can switch. Excited to play the lightning spear build!
I followed the guide from Raxx and the only real difference I can see is he goes Elementalist on the first board instead of Control. He goes Unleash on the board that you went Elementalist. The other 6 glyphs are the same and the board is very similar just small changes on the 2 boards with glyph differences. Any comment on why one would be better than the other? Seems like these boards are getting really close to the same.
Nice build. I just transitioned into it and can do a lot harder content even without a Shako. Seems like you can get to endgame in a few days and I'll be done with the season.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but before the hotfix I did a lot more damage... and now I'm having weird problems with T7 Horde I got 70% crit chance and 1700 crit damage and only do 1m or 4m damage... thats all .. 😢
Does the Aspect of Splintering Energy scale off Intelligence at all? If I have 94% Lightning Spears to cast twice temper am I better off masterworking that to over 100% or taking more critical strike damage? The math with conjugation mastery seems to favor lightning spears cast twice doesn’t it? I would put the Aspect of the Orange Herald on your pants. It gives you permanent uptime on unstable currents when you need it most.
im level 80 with a want and focus am im doing amazing atm, just some tempering will do, once you got he 3 uniques your set to use the build. i yes ice blades for now
I don’t think you have to dodge all that much with this build. In town yes you’re able to get an idea of what your working with because of Esus but the conjuration mastery will bring you to the 200% movement speed cap without the dodge so you’re just messing up your lightning spear spamming.
You can clear T5 IH and NMD 100 easily with this build without mythics. Solo torme t bosses are possible, you'll kust need to play smart. Takes maybe a minute. Frozen Winterglass is the only requirement. You'll be spamming frozen orb a lot, but still very strong. Get a tal rasha from normal varshan, a frozen winterglass, and you'll be on your way.
I have the build but pushing the hordes past t4 or t5 has been a hassle, it feels squishy and boss damage takes a hell lot of time. Any Suggestions for increasing boss damage and increasing tankiness ?
@@NickTew I'm having the hardest time with bosses... I can clear a 120 pit in a minute but then can't do enough dmg to kill the boss. Same with tier 7/8 compass, can't kill the council (or rather, I can kill 2 of the 3 but once it's down to 1, the dmg falls off). Thoughts?
Great build, lucky me the Mother blessed me with a Sacred Fractured Winterglass at level 40 that have a 0.3 CDR that's why I manage to play the build early as of lvl 55, not that efficient but playable. But man I really miss Ball Lightning tho.
quick question nick: why lightning spear lucky hit chance on gloves & pants ? you have 90 % on amulet , does lucky hit chance bonus not count ? & 9 % LHC from lightning spear itself on skill tree ?? 90 + LHCB + lightning spear bonus + gloves & pants ?
If you want to get >50 stacks, I felt I need conjuration cooldown at around 0.6. But playing-wise, I felt even if I got less stacks (30-40), higher conjuration mastery feels like it clears faster maybe because of more damage per hit.
@@drshoe7803 Well, rob's video gave a good overview. Basically the main factors are - lightning spear CD (ideally at 0.7), good proc chance on frozen orb (on amulet), and attack speed >80% (with pot). I personally found the CD requirements out of reach for me (6.2s with triple masterwork on standard shako, tal rasha and lightning spear CD on ring). Need some GAs to get there, plus perfect temper on ring.
I have a form of this build sadly just trying to get a better fractured winterglass. The rolls weren't horrible but the main part of the unique rolled almost perfect just top part of it that weren't great
I’m running this almost exactly. For the first time I’ve got really good gear imo. The issue I’m having is that I can only maintain about 20-25 stacks. 76% crit chance (with another 15% from spear) 1300 crit dmg, 60% cooldown and a really good winterglass Do you have any advice? Someone was telling me to get fists of fate and jack up my lucky hit. Do you agree or have some other advice? I feel with the gear I have I should be getting 40 stacks or more Edit: just finished the video and you said no FoF. I’m kinda lost then, what am I missing?
20-25 stacks is fine, you'll only get more stacks when mobs are capable of living through all of your damage output and it's multi-target. See what your stacks get to when fighting the t8 infernal horde boss, or when you do high tiers of the pit.
thanks for the video ! The build is amazing in terms of damage, but I also find it extremely squishy. I don't have the shaco yet and i struggle so much with damage, i get one shot all the time, as there are no armor on any pieces of gear... My gear is currently MW at 4. Any i dea how could i improve that survavibility issue perharps? Or is just like that untill you reach full MW on all pieces of gear + shaco ? thanks !
I’ve no idea how you get 85% crit chance from this build, I’ve got a ga ring with both masterworks on crit chance and a non ga glove with both masterworks on crit chance and still only sit at 63% with an elixir.
honestly dont believe the lighting spear damage from itself isnt doing anything. if thats 30k BASE per hit multiplied x 250 from passive (and all other bonusses) x 30 lightning spears, that is millions of damage per second on a boss, as they keep flying around.
This if a fun build. Diablo might be the only game where ppl never give stats in their guides. It's super rare to hear someone say get like 20k hp and 15k damage with 3 20& dr so u can do things. But very good video.
Will keep this in mind for future videos, usually I let the stats speak for themselves and the gear recommendations I give will lead you to said stats.
I don't understand why his lightning spears start at only 3 sec cooldown in game, and 7 on the skill tree, like i don't see 7, 6 or 5 been reduced with fractured effect

I see you have around 20 conjuration stacks in hordes and mekuna usually has 25 to 30. But when im playing in hordes i get around 10 on average. I have ga shaco with tripple crit so i have 60cdr and 90crit chance. Why do you think im not getting many conjuration stacks
I have an amulet with the lowest roll on the conjuration, no mythic uniques, and nothing is fully masterworked, and most not at all. so about 10-15 conjurations normally, more on bosses. I have no problem killing tormented bosses, and race through pit tier 99, infernal horde tier 6 is easy. Haven’t tried higher. I am having a blast with my “poor” amount of conjurations. And as a sorc, I have never felt faster or more unkillable 🤣 I am using a slightly different build, but saying it won’t work, is just wrong
Dude have you tried the new and impoved Esam Staff, Greater Sparks build. With a couple of rings to reduce mana costs it is now a basic skill that can pump out sparks at a phenomenal rate. This Masterworked will be a contender for above build

I have a Fractured Winterglass with GA ranks, .3 cooldown but min roll on the unique power. Would you use this one or one with a max roll unique power and no GA and .2?
Question. I got the build going great, soloing t8's and ubers, but i want more CDR. I found a Tal Rashas witih GA CDR but the effect is low. Is that damage even relevant?

Great video. Just a side note that I noticed Mekuna’s paragon board is a bit different than yours. I’m sure both work great, just figured I’d mention.

Don’t discount his advice on waiting until you have gear for this build, if you try it below 100 with sub optimal gear it will suck.

Based on Robs video you do not need to press spacebar all the time . Your movement can be "maxed" without it

You should try the invocation glyph instead of tactician.
just an fyi, youll get a lot more crit dmg if you if you MW the TEMPER and not the GA affix

you didn't explain your choice for 1 into max res, and 2 into DR for tyreals? Why not 3 into DR or 2 into max res, 1 into DR? What's your reasoning?

If you want to get >50 stacks, I felt I need conjuration cooldown at around 0.6. But playing-wise, I felt even if I got less stacks (30-40), higher conjuration mastery feels like it clears faster maybe because of more damage per hit.
I cant pass 24 stacks,i have a really good build tho, do you know why?
I am also interested how to reach higher stacks than 25? Have Conj. CD reduction at 0.7 and generally a high CDR.
@@drshoe7803 Well, rob's video gave a good overview. Basically the main factors are - lightning spear CD (ideally at 0.7), good proc chance on frozen orb (on amulet), and attack speed >80% (with pot). I personally found the CD requirements out of reach for me (6.2s with triple masterwork on standard shako, tal rasha and lightning spear CD on ring). Need some GAs to get there, plus perfect temper on ring.
I have a form of this build sadly just trying to get a better fractured winterglass. The rolls weren't horrible but the main part of the unique rolled almost perfect just top part of it that weren't great
I’m running this almost exactly. For the first time I’ve got really good gear imo.
The issue I’m having is that I can only maintain about 20-25 stacks. 76% crit chance (with another 15% from spear) 1300 crit dmg, 60% cooldown and a really good winterglass
Do you have any advice? Someone was telling me to get fists of fate and jack up my lucky hit. Do you agree or have some other advice?
I feel with the gear I have I should be getting 40 stacks or more

20-25 stacks is fine, you'll only get more stacks when mobs are capable of living through all of your damage output and it's multi-target. See what your stacks get to when fighting the t8 infernal horde boss, or when you do high tiers of the pit.
Did you try fireball? I think fb is much faster with massive fb explosions 2 screens away...
thanks for the video ! The build is amazing in terms of damage, but I also find it extremely squishy. I don't have the shaco yet and i struggle so much with damage, i get one shot all the time, as there are no armor on any pieces of gear... My gear is currently MW at 4. Any i dea how could i improve that survavibility issue perharps? Or is just like that untill you reach full MW on all pieces of gear + shaco ? thanks !
I’ve no idea how you get 85% crit chance from this build, I’ve got a ga ring with both masterworks on crit chance and a non ga glove with both masterworks on crit chance and still only sit at 63% with an elixir.
How are you keeping a full bar of crackling energy?! I'm not generating very much, so there's not a lot to pick up. :(

honestly dont believe the lighting spear damage from itself isnt doing anything. if thats 30k BASE per hit multiplied x 250 from passive (and all other bonusses) x 30 lightning spears, that is millions of damage per second on a boss, as they keep flying around.

This if a fun build. Diablo might be the only game where ppl never give stats in their guides. It's super rare to hear someone say get like 20k hp and 15k damage with 3 20& dr so u can do things. But very good video.
Will keep this in mind for future videos, usually I let the stats speak for themselves and the gear recommendations I give will lead you to said stats.
@NickTew video is still good would just be super helpful to have a general clue as to what tier I could do b4 I have everything fully maxed.
Im using fist of fate. Masterworked and I got 102% lucky hit chance. It' s pretty good.
Crit went from 57% to 78% hitting space bar... For those of us using controller, what is your space bar function? Did you use a skill?
I’m guessing that’s circle or dodge.
Dodging while wearing esu boots gives gives more crit chance as your movement speed is increased for a few seconds

I feel like streamers doesnt stress the ga on winterglass enough, seems to me to be the real hero to getting this to really fly?
I don't understand why his lightning spears start at only 3 sec cooldown in game, and 7 on the skill tree, like i don't see 7, 6 or 5 been reduced with fractured effect
my guy casually has a fractured winterglass with greater affix on reduced CDs be frozen orbs.. not too bad.. not too bad indeed

I see you have around 20 conjuration stacks in hordes and mekuna usually has 25 to 30. But when im playing in hordes i get around 10 on average. I have ga shaco with tripple crit so i have 60cdr and 90crit chance. Why do you think im not getting many conjuration stacks

I was lucky enough to get Harlyquin, tyrails chest piece and winterglass all in 2-3hrs
I have an amulet with the lowest roll on the conjuration, no mythic uniques, and nothing is fully masterworked, and most not at all. so about 10-15 conjurations normally, more on bosses.
I have no problem killing tormented bosses, and race through pit tier 99, infernal horde tier 6 is easy. Haven’t tried higher.
I am having a blast with my “poor” amount of conjurations.
And as a sorc, I have never felt faster or more unkillable 🤣

Dude have you tried the new and impoved Esam Staff, Greater Sparks build. With a couple of rings to reduce mana costs it is now a basic skill that can pump out sparks at a phenomenal rate. This Masterworked will be a contender for above build

Question. I got the build going great, soloing t8's and ubers, but i want more CDR. I found a Tal Rashas witih GA CDR but the effect is low. Is that damage even relevant?
