    I think I come across a little less enthusiastic about the game in this video than I did in my playthrough video; but don't let that fool you -- I had a really great time playing it and highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of this genre.
    And don't be mislead by me saying this game doesn't have the "best" writing in the genre. My statement is meant quite literally -- there are some games in the genre whose writing, at least to my native English ears, is more impressive. But the writing in Vienna Connection is great.

    I like how you swap in similar games in the display row in back- you've got my favorites (this is my favorite sub-genre) well-represented there. I can't quite make out the box in orange and black- adler-something?

      Hi William.
      The game you are seeing is "Fire in Alderstein": boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/261145/detective-stories-case-1-fire-adlerstein
      It's originally a German mystery game, that makes some use of the internet and has lots of unique real-looking documents. I actually haven't played it yet, but I will soon. There are some videos of it on BGG and it looks like their may be others in the series but not yet translated into english.

    Just so you know, I tend to watch at 1.5 or 2x speed. I don't know if that says something about my attention span, or the length of the videos, but I'm glad TH-cam has the option!

      I actually have been speeding up some of the rules overviews to condense them.. And I try to add timestamps to most of our longer videos to help people who want to jump around. -jesse

      Let me know what you think of it Colby. Try to play at least the first 2 missions before you come to any strong opinions.

    I have seen some reviews that claim this is a 'dumbed down' version of Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game - would you say it is a less note keeping intensive game , for example?

      I would definitely not call it a dumbed-down version of Detective.. But my memory is that yes it might require less note taking. It's a very different experience. You might say that Detective Modern Crime felt more "difficult" but mostly in the sense of being unfairly difficult with unconvincing resolutions to some mysteries, whereas Vienna Connection feels a bit tighter. From my perspective if you like one of them, you have a high likelihood of liking the other. -jesse

    I understand that sherlock holmes baker street irregulars has more deduction, but Chronicle of Crimes? That gameis simply scanning everything until you found a clue and that's it. I feel like thre's very little deduction in it

      The mechanics of Chronicles of Crime are completely different -- some people prefer it and others don't. But there is some good satisfying deduction and mystery solving in Chronicles of Crime. -jesse

      @@COOPFORTWO There is a real time element in Chronicles of Crime that you don't get with static boardgames, i.e you need to be at a certain place at a certain time to be able to interrogate someone. Also you never find everything that is helpful in 30 seconds, unless you cheat of course - scanning everything just isn't possible if you play by the rules.

    • @COOPFORTWO
      @COOPFORTWO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Veaseify Yes and even though Chronicles of Crime is very generous in the amount of time it gives you, there is a nice feeling of pressure that you don't have unlimited time and have to manage your time a bit more carefully. In addition, there is a constant threat of unexpected events triggering and changing things. -jesse
